  1. The people who do these lists take way too much account of past performance. Rex had his day and has been living off his success for years. He hasn't done anything of note lately and seems unable or unwilling to change his scheme. I would put him in the bottom third at best. agreed. too true. and boy they panned him, too
  2. can we claim Sterling Archer off waivers? Sploosh!
  3. what was the methodology? Was this created by a couple sports writers to sell ancestry.com subscriptions? And I can tell you why OJ isn't on the list. Editor said "we are not exposing ourselves to that debate."
  4. The NFL does nothing for free. Nothing. Do not expect many military tributes this year. No, its advertising. Big difference. You don't have to buy into it. As well we should. I agree, but that's not the point. NFL is a business, they do not do things for free. Military has a budget for this. I'm sure 273k is a small part of the subsection of the subsection of the small part of the overall DoD budget it came from.
  5. $723k is not even loose change to either the Govt or the NFL. Im glad the NFL came up short but the whole thing is overblown. It is advertising like any other product placement deal.
  6. Patriots fans have their Robbie right now. It can be done. It starts with management that wants to win more than make money. I think we have that now...I think. Then you need a HC who wins by quietly studying the game and making adjustments to his system as needed. We dont have that yet. Then an elite qb and some supporting elite players. Good management gets the elite players and good HC does the most with whats left. It can be done.
  7. This is not funny, because two of the three points are legitimate.
  8. the problem with keeping EJ is Whaley has too much man-love for him. Whaley has done everything he can to eliminate threats to EJ's progression to Bills starting QB and he may or may not have given up after the London debacle. Just get him out of the stable so we can move on. Pretty sure Rex wants nothing to do with him.
  9. Hard to judge Wade because he worked for two of the most infamously meddlesome FOs in the NFL, Buffalo and Dallas. No sense dredging up past issues but wonder how he would have done in 99 if given the kind of free reign Kraft gives his HC. I get it, maybe Wade was never going to be the guy for us but Rex clearly suffers the same flaw.
  10. Bill Belichick is probably really mad someone found all the bootleg playbooks that "disappeared" in the aftermath of the spygate investigation... anyway, as far as Wade vs. Rex, has everyone forgot Wade was the last HC to take us to the playoffs? Wade 1, Rex 0. I would switch coaches in a second. Edit: I'm sorry, Wade took us to the playoffs TWICE ... Wade 2, Rex 0.
  11. The best part od that article is the link to "cat and pigeon battle it out in garden".
  12. "Winning is hard in the NFL" Or... "It's a trap!"
  13. So sick of salivating over other teams' potential castoffs. Maybe with better coaching we could discover our own talent?
  14. As much as I want to think Rex has learned some lessons, the hiring of his brother indicates to me that nothing has changed for either Rex or ownership. The time for no more excuses has already expired. I fully expect we will miss the playoffs again, Rex will finally be fired (maybe), and we will start rebuiding again. Hopefully by that time Pegs has learned to hire a proven HC not a self-promoting snakeoil salesman. Till then, my avatar stays.
  15. You all have this wrong. The big changewas hiring his brother as the Asst. HC/defense., i.e. uber-DC. Hip hip hurray. Bills have now officially jumped the shark.
  16. The only person we should sit for the game is Rex Ryan.
  17. Maybe we could trade him to Cleveland for Pettine and a 3rd? lol
  18. very good read, but too soft on Dinosaurus Rex. If he hasn't "evolved" at this point in his career, he never will. Dump him now, Pegs!
  19. wow, Rex's list of vocal supporters grows thin.
  20. I hate that to root for Freddie to get a ring, I have to root for Marshawn.
  21. I stopped renewing ST after Chan's second year. The Skins game was on local TV and I didn't even watch it. I'll start watching again when they fire Rex, which is inevitable (though probably not soon enough), or when they can string more than 2 victories in a row. Why is he your avatar? I argued this early in the season, but now its apparent that Rex cannot HC regardless what is happening on defense. He is just a terrible coach all around. If we're hiring sons of famous NFL coaches, Wade Philips can be brought back from Denver. 56% winning percentage as HC. I'm sure there are others. I think the Jets current playoff standing proves Rex is not a very good HC.
  22. BS. All teams have injuries, all teams have underachievers, all teams have blowhards. Good coaches mitigate all these factors and turn weaknesses into strengths. Bad coaches do ... whatever it is Rex does. Failure to hold players accountable, failure to game plan, failure to adapt and adjust.
