NFL Week 8: Packers at Bills - post game thread
TheBrownBear replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's an idiot with a flamethrower. I admit to listening to him occasionally, but you have to accept that he's going to just spout off asinine things from time to time. -
Allen’s QBR last night was 83.6
TheBrownBear replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
The picks were head scratchers for sure, but we know he was trying to throw that one away and the other he got greedy trying to make a play. The more concerning moments were the overthrows to Diggs and Kumerow. Those were 2018 oof-worthy throws. -
I think Frazier and McDermott were happy to allow the GB offense to run the game clock out 6 yards at a time. The bigger nit to pick is with Dorsey. I know Singletary had a couple of runs in the second that put us behind the sticks, but it still seemed that we were having Josh drop back far more often than was needed.

Are Bills fans expectations too high????
TheBrownBear replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
I sort of agree with that, but do they lose focus and play like crap in the second half last night against a truly good team? I think the big early lead and GB's mind numbing gameplan and general ineptitude sort of lulled the Bills to sleep. I think we only possessed the ball once the entire 3rd quarter. I've seen enough of this team that I feel comfortable writing the 4th quarter off as a one off. This^^^^ The 1990-91 Bills team was the best I've ever seen in person and they had some ugly halves (and entire games). There's a reason teams basically never finish undefeated (or even with just 1 loss). It's next to impossible to be at your very best for 16/17 weeks straight. And let's not forget that the opposing team is filled with hardworking, prideful professionals as well. -
They've already named Zac Wilson the starter for Sunday. They have no chance against Buffalo's defense with that guy under center. Just an average Josh Allen day on Sunday should see us leave town with an easy 14 point win.

Neal makes a lot of sense to me. Fast and strong. I wonder if he just hasn't shown well when given safety reps in practice over the years, or if it's just that the Bills are pretty strict about keeping him as the backup slot guy.

Great night game experience! However....
TheBrownBear replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall
Possibly, but there were still drunken fools swearing, fighting and pissing all over themselves when I started going to games in the 80s. I remember a freezing December night game 20 years ago where I walked by a guy with his pants and underwear around his ankles, sleeping under someone's car (full disclosure - i tried to help him, but he waved me off and said "no thanks, I'm fine!"...LOL) . It's just the human condition once alcohol is involved. -
Poyer elbow injury (update: “day-to-day”)
TheBrownBear replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course, age will become an issue with Poyer, but this elbow thing is more of a fluky injury where it just got caught the wrong way. It's going to be an issue until he can fully rest it in the offseason. I'm guessing he takes a 4-5 week rest now like he did in the preseason. We just have to hope we can get through this softer part of our schedule without him. -

She's just reporting what Poyer said. -

I agree. We dominated that first half. The final boxscore was surprising is all. -

I mean, I guess, but expecting perfection for 60 minutes every single game is asking a lot. A season has ebbs and flows. I'm happy that we could play a pretty bad half of football and still manage to walk away with a 27-17 win. Sign of a good team. -

Weird game. Outgained by 30 yards. Lost the turnover battle. GB won TOP 33:30-26:30. Hard to believe we won by 10 points. -

Playing to not get blown out it seems. -
Eagles keep wrecking the bums put in front of them. They look fantastic, but want to see how they fare against a real team or when facing adversity. But, man, AJ Brown is such a freaking stud, Sanders is finally fulfilling his potential and Hurts appears to have taken a huge leap. They look like they belong in the top-3 discussion with Buffalo and KC right now.

Hurts threw some jump balls too. Not sure why Bills fans are so damn defensive when it comes to Tua. He was 3rd in QBR and 4th in quarterback rating heading into today's game. Those will obviously improve after today. He'll never have a rocket arm or be in Josh or Mahomes stratosphere, and yes, he benefits from having great weapons, but he's become damn good given his limitations.
