  1. Classic -- and I haven't even started drinking yet. Glad you're around when I need a good laugh.
  2. Here are a couple of stats to ponder: As good as the Sabres have been coming from behind -- 5-6-1 when trailing after two periods, which is sick -- that also means they are 8-0-1 when tied or leading after two. This is a team that plays its best hockey when it matters most, although I do wish they'd start just a little faster...
  3. And UB has basically the team that throttled Arizona in the tourney last year, and has one of the best wins of this young season. I can't wait for that UB/Cuse game.
  4. Sabres and Leafs are the two hottest teams in hockey. It's a damn shame we don't play each other for a while still.
  5. Oh really? Marrone and McD have the same number of playoff appearances. One could actually argue Marrone was handed one of the most talented rosters in football and has "led" them to a 15-14 record over two seasons.
  6. Yes, Friday 1/11 and Saturday 3/16. I definitely plan to go to both. And yes, I'm social -- just discerning in my pre-game festivities!
  7. The lingering BBFS in me expects the Sabres to lay an egg tonight in Pittsburgh...prove me wrong, boys!
  8. You're kidding, right? Their roster is stocked with talent on both sides of the ball and they have a HOF QB. By the way, Lynn completely butchered the end of the game yesterday, allowing a crappy Denver team time to drive the length of the field and beat them on a last-second FG.
  9. Facking Chargers!!! Unbelievable way for me to be knocked out. Pool is down to 12 as (besides me) 10 others picked Atlanta, Arizona, or Carolina. The five who picked Pittsburgh should purchase lottery tickets.
  10. The challenge with Karlos, though, was determining whether he was exhibiting concussion symptoms or just acting like his usual self.
  11. Common man! Row to hoe. This is turning into a pretty fun season...nearly a quarter in and I think we can start to believe a little bit. Good enough goaltending to steal Ws when not playing great, and a lot of skill to finish chances. And Dahlin hasn't even played 20 games as a pro yet! I really hope Housley and his coaches are looking at the advanced analytics so they can make the adjustments warranted as the season progresses. Speaking of which -- if you have a subscription to The Athletic you need to read the article about their video coach Mat Myers. Great story.
  12. I read an article on the Athletic a few days ago that looked at teams who have started quickly, trying to predict which ones will backslide...thankfully they didn't think the Sabres are one of them!
  13. Sabres haven't won 4 in a row since 2014...come on, boys! FYI, they're currently on pace for 100 pts., which would have netted them the #1 WC last season.
  14. I expect the Jets, Broncos, Cowboys, and Bucs to fire their coaches. Still not buying that Harbaugh is out in BAL or that GB will move on from McCarthy. Of course, CLE won't keep Greggggggo. Absolutely foolish for any team with a 1st year coach to make a change (ARI/DET).
  15. I'm still alive in a 565 entry pool that is down to 23. I'm one of only two players left who can take the Chargers (at home vs. Denver) so that's where I'm leaning while I hope for a lot of upsets elsewhere. Lots of risky games out there -- even though Oakland has been awful I can't imagine picking Zona. Jacksonville is due for a bounce back and they destroyed PIT twice last year. Philly's backs are against the wall at NO. Really tough week.
  16. Iowa pretty much manhandled Oregon. Will be interesting to see how both they and the Cuse come out after similarly disappointing outings.
  17. The expected matchup, but not the expected time...whoops.
  18. Yep. Beane said it himself -- they could have done some "tricked up" things to try and win immediately but made the decision to bite the dead cap bullet now so they can start fresh. They aren't "intentionally losing" -- i.e., tanking -- but they are making decisions pertaining to the future rather than 2018. And I'm ok with it. The team plays hard for McD and the culture has been established. With an influx of talent the building blocks are in place.
