Beane gained 124 spots in draft position to give up 5. The Bills now have two 2nds, a 3rd, and four (!!!) 4ths. That’s a win. Who gives a @#$% what the Chefs do?

My overly simplistic analysis of Beane’s moves is that he moved down 5 spots to pick up 124. Seems like a pretty good deal if he wasn’t sold on picking in the 1st round. If the Bills keep their picks we’re getting two in the 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th, and then four in the 5th. (edited to correct remaining picks)

Dave beat me to it, but the truth is that Beane has never drafted a receiver higher than the 4th round so how can anyone say he can't evaluate them! That Shakir kid looks ok...

Fans tend to be more "afraid" of giving up draft capital than good GMs. I think Beane strikes the right balance between being aggressive to go get the guy you believe in early, but then letting the later rounds come to him based upon his scouts and board.

I'm sure they will sort that out once Lindy analyzes the roster and tells Adams what he needs...

No, they're not. They should have been in the playoffs this season; the roster is loaded with young talent and the farm system is excellent. They need structure, discipline, and the experienced leadership of someone who knows how to get them where they want to go. If you know Brindamour isn't leaving Carolina you are hard pressed to find a better hire for this team at this time...

Interesting. I think the ONLY time it makes sense to make that kind of a move for a WR is if you already have a franchise QB...which of course the Bills do. You get the stud receiver "on the cheap" for at least three years...then rinse, wash, repeat. I think I'd be down with it.

I dunno…you can make an argument the Sabres could/should have won two Cups with Lindy, and his overall playoff record is over .500. Is he an “exciting” hire around the league? Probably not. But I really do think he’s the perfect guy for this job at this time, and I absolutely believe players will buy in to his message.

Which should be the number one goal. They desperately needed a coach with legitimate NHL experience to instill the structure and discipline required to compete over a full 82-game season and not just in spurts. There is no excuse for a team with this talent to miss the playoffs. Under Granato they were undisciplined defensively and horrendous on special teams. And judging by Mittelstadt’s comments after leaving practices were a breeze. I don’t know if Ruff is more than a one-year answer but I doubt there is a guy out there who wants to win in Buffalo more than he does.

When you post your opinion as "fact" you're going to get some eyerolls.

Fans don't want to hear it or admit it, but the truth of the matter is that it takes a tremendous amount of luck to be consistently good in the NFL. You can have the best organization in place and have a mediocre team, or a bunch of jokers in the front office and luck out with your QB. The teams that stay consistently relevant have a combination of good luck with key draft picks and the ability to pivot and fix things that are going wrong through trades and free agency.

Bring back Lindy! Perfect coach for this team. He'd kick their asses and give some structure.
