We got a 5th round pick in 2017 for losing him this year, instead of... probably a 5th round pick in 2019. For better or worse, Jonathan Williams is the guy with Tolbert as the likely insurance. He can block on 3rd downs much more effectively than McCoy. Has pretty good hands for a guy his size. He hasn't fumbled since 2011. He can break through an arm tackle on 3rd and inches, while McCoy cant.

You can't have the 2nd highest paid RB in the NFL (the highest is on the tag), AND the highest paid backup in the NFL at RB.

2.6 million would have made him the 13th highest cap hit on the team, for our backup running back. It makes contract negotiations much more difficult as the agent starts at 2.6 per year if not more. So u end up with him for a high cap hit for 1 year then he walks to start somewhere else. You might get a comp pick in 2019. It's also a ton to pay a backup running back when u have the 2nd highest paid back in the NFL. Unfortunately you have to go young and cheap when u carry a contract like mccoys.

Somewhere around 3-6 wins. Decker missed pretty much all of 2016 - so his loss is negligible too. O-line is still alright. Should be able to keep McCown on his feet, and run the ball. Bowles seems like a solid coach, at least defensively.

Pryor sucked. Revis was massively overpaid, and sucked. Harris was also overpaid.

I don't look at us as a tanking team. We're returning much of a 7-9 team from a year ago, that lost a couple tight games to playoff bound teams in Miami and Seattle. We were without our top WR most of the season, and a ton of other people missed time (safeties, shady missed a game or two, woods). Our franchise DT missed 4 games with suspension, as well as several more due to injury. Our 1st round pick missed camp and barely played, and our 2nd round pick didn't play a down. How are we significantly worse than we were a year ago under our idiotic previous HC?

Bottom this year is between cleveland, SF probably, and the NYJ. I throw the Rams in there too - new coach and still a lousy offense. With injuries and if we lose tons of close games - 5-11/6-10 is probably worst case scenario. Only chance we finish close to the bottom is a tyrod injury

Smith should be the starter all year assuming he's healthy. They'd be in a great position to move on in 2018. 3.6 mil cap hit to cut him outright (by the 3rd league day), or they can trade him and someone can absorb the 14.5 million base salary for a solid starting QB. He should still fetch a decent asset.

He needs to take another job and do well. Then he will get more chances.

Def hard to crack into that top group. Need to win an MVP, few first team all-pros, and have absurd longevity for this era. Demarco murray had a better year behind the same O-line... why isn't he on the list?!

Shedding salary to roll over into 2018 and tanking for a top pick in 2018. They'll have a ton of free space from fronting some cap charges into 2017, and will roll over another big chunk. They'll remake the team in FA, and/or trade Richardson for something. They do have a ton of needs though... QB - assume this is covered with the tank RB - probably plug another vet in here WR - should be a good crop of free agent WRs, and one of theirs might turn out to be something TE - Nothing at this position at the moment CB - Nothing at this position really S - Adams.. and not much else OLB - more of the same... They add a top 3-5 pick and they get their QB. I would see

For the most part I agree. I also think he was a victim of circumstances with Oakland. They brought in their rookie QB, and whats the best way to improve one - oline and WRs. They used a ton of money to build the line, and then signed crabtree and Cooper fell right to them. If they don't sign Crabtree - he probably starts the last 2 years. If they don't draft cooper - same thing. Worked out well for us - in any case. He's super cheap. If hes good - great. If hes not - hes gone.

Seeing the tackling of our defense a year ago, i can safely say we need Ragland on the field quite badly. For that reason, I don't think that Preston Brown is "good". He's alright.

Boldin - chasing a ring.... won't come here. Barnidge - chasing the big pay day. He'll take the top dollar he can get guaranteed, or he goes somewhere where he can maximize his numbers and try again for the big pay day. Byrd - was cleared by team doctors, but refused to play in his last year here. Also a pretty lousy tackler in a defense that requires you to tackle well. I think we're going to carry the cap space over. Maybe make a move or two in the beginning stages of free agency instead of waiting for scraps. We could also use the space if we're forced to franchise watkins. 2017 was like 15 million. Carrying over an extra 10 (i assume 2+ gets taken up with roster moves) will help us field a roster when we have to tag someone.

Streater had 60 and 888 with 4 TDs in 2013. Holmes had 47 and 693 and 4 TDs in 2014. Bottom line - quicks stats resemble streater and holmes. If he is cut - he will have missed OTAs, TC, Preseason, and a ton of time with the Tyrod. To me - it wouldn't make sense to bring him in unless he looked like a major upgrade

I just don't get why people like Quick over a Holmes/Streater. What has he done that they didn't do? If he was good - they wouldn't have spent 34 million on Bob Woods. Right now it looks like Jones is taking over the Woods spot of #2, probably moving over to the slot in 3 WR formations. I don't think he's an upgrade there, but Woods always seemed to have a sore something... and he fell over a lot. Holmes is #3, and Brown is #4. Last year that was goodwin/hunter. Goodwin has speed, but he isn't a red zone threat, and is a poor route runner. He didn't seem to have a good football sense/toughness either. Hunter was added mid-season so it's tough to evaluate him. Streater may provide some depth, and tate probably returns kicks. Watkins needs to healthy, and then we're better than a year ago. 1 Healthy watkins is a big upgrade over the 1/2 watkins we had a year ago.

Isn't it just a matter of faking a cut (which he's good at) and getting the defender on their heels... then taking it either inside or outside?

Or just.... every bills dolphins game where they throw little passes to landry over and over again. It's not particularly effective but they definitely do it.

Have you watched a steelers or dolphins game recently? Brown and landry each get like 5 a game....

We averaged like 1 ypc on 1st down. Set up our limited QB to fail with the #4/#5 WRs starting.
