Rick Dennison interview on WGR
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about a little play action?! The shotgun "play-action" is always so easily read. Never seen peterman play. Don't really want to at this point... maybe next year or if people are injured. -
Tyrod will not be handed starting Job
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Tyrod didn't take a paycut ---- We cut him. Draft may play out differently but maybe we still end up with watson or mahomes. And if (when) they stink - the new regime blames whaley. Now at least the new guys pick their guy - and are married to him. That way if (when) they stink - we can blame them! -
Ryan Fitzpatrick Signing with the Bucs
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man were the Jets smart to low-ball him. Unfortunately the GM/coach who made that smart move, and set the team up for a shot at getting a top QB in the draft, are both very likely fired after this year. -

I'm interested to see what the sack rate looks like in a new offense. And just generally how we intend to use Tyrod's unique skills. He was sacked a lot last year, but the average yards lost weren't particularly high, and the turnovers were very low. We had a lot of half field high-low concepts... if neither guy is open you're coached to hold the ball and take off. Anything but a turnover basically. If we had taken the ball away more last year (like the niners did under harbaugh), and held teams to fewer yards (specifically on the ground) - we would've made the playoffs. -

I look at it like this - Tyrod is the hardest working player on the entire team. I want him to succeed. If he doesn't, he'll have done everything he could to be great. I don't think everyone on this board does - they'd rather be right about him. -

From what I recall in that article, the under center numbers were better than shotgun. Could be a case of small sample size - cuz we ran 90% of plays from shotgun/pistol... -

I want to be less predictable... Deep drops and stuff on first downs and 2nd and shorts. I'd also like plays designed to get the ball out of his hands quicker. We ran 17 screens in 2016. The patriots ran probably 20 against buffalo in 2016. -

All true - never seemed liek we gameplanned to throw the ball. I'm sure a lot of that is Tyrod. A lot of it was also who our receivers are... and our identity as an offense. The lack of screens, bubbles, swings, and just creative ways to get athletes the ball was telling. Barely ran plays from under center, which takes bootlegs and PA out of the game. -

4th in team sacks. EJ and Cardale's sacks in the finale counted in the total. -

That I can agree on. Team needs to get their YPA up. I think some of it is on Taylor, and some of its on the receivers and O-line. If the YPA doesn't go up - then we need to be a LOT better on defense. Example: Dallas passed only 9 more times than us. The also gained about 600 additional yards passing, and completed 7% more. They were sacked less, and had a similarly efficient run game. -

By a single player... the browns were sacked 66 times. We were 4th in sacks allowed, 18th in yards lost from sacks. Also 27th in INTs... if you're talking drive-killers -

Roman offense facts - Top 12 in points scored 5/6 years. 8th or better in giveaways in 5/6 years. Top 8 in rushing yards 5/6 years. Bottom 5 passing yards 5/6 years. Teams usually near the bottom of the league in sacks. 3 playoff teams in 4 years with SF. Almost won a superbowl, and almost got to a 2nd. What is the main takeaway? The niners defense was awesome, and top 5 in yards all 4 years under harbaugh. Ours was bottom half in yards, and worse at getting takeaways and short fields. And one of the worst rush defenses in football. -

Sacks are a bit of a function of the Greg Roman offense. Alex Smith was sacked 44 times in SF when they won 13 games. Combine Smiths and Kaepernick and you get 40. Kaepernick was sacked 39 and 52 times in his 2 full years under roman. Tyrod was sacked 36 and 42 times at a sack rate of 8.7/8.8%. Pretty much in line with what Smith and Kaep did in their years under Roman. -

By DVOA we were rated 26th. This put us above powerhouses like Detroit, SF, Cleveland, Indy, and NO. -

Like yes - he needs to be better especially in crunch time situations. He could hold the ball less, keep his eyes downfield, use the middle of the field. But the defense needs to be better at like - every position. We struggled with play calling, we struggled in coverage, penalties, tackling... what didn't we struggle with on defense? What was our identity on defense? 3 200+ rushers!! -

New LA Stadium Won't Be Ready Until 2020
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were in a tough spot. Either commit to SD, and play in a dump... or move right then and there and eventually get to make more money. Til 2020 though... oof. Leasing a soccer stadium? 27000 Seats? Yikes. Only prayer that they have right now is that they're very likely to be much better than the rams. Gives them a shot to poach some fans. Also - its a 2 hour drive from SD, so i think as much as those fans are POed, a lot will still go to the games. When i lived in rochester i still went to games, and i know season ticket holders who live there too. -
Predictions for Next Year's Super Bowl?

Better yet - Alex smith will be a perfect 21/21 for 300 yards and 4 td's prior to his benching. -

Patriots over... i guess the packers? I like their offense to actually be able to run the ball a bit this year. Bold prediction? I think the raiders miss the playoffs this year. -
Bills Roster 2017: Categorising the players
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Colton Schmidt's got to go. Lowest Average punt distance. 2nd lowest average net. There's definite room for an upgrade there. Actually really cost us in the Seattle game, and the oakland game. -
I think it depends on what you see in practice. There's a degree of "readiness" that needs to be there. Can he call the play after its relayed in? Will he know the checks? The Audibles? The snap count? Formation? Has he developed a cadence? If the answer to any of the questions is no... then you should probably have him focusing on that stuff. Those things need to be natural - takes some guys longer than others. Like - i wouldn't want to get him killed by a Pro bowl DE because he tips the snap count or something stupid like that.

AFC East Report Cards
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to BillsMedia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I absolutely regret everything I did in college from an academic perspective. I had no clue what I wanted to do, and made decisions based on thinking I was too smart to go in a different direction. I'd seriously encourage any of you younger fellas to look at community college. Not only do you save a ton of money, but the adviser's are honestly probably better than what you'll get at a big-time University. It truly did feel like I was just a number at UB. I know you can get a great education from a big-time university, but it's also easy to skate by and not really get much out of it other than a monthly student-loan bill. The job i have now (which I like) requires nothing of which I went to school for, and I'd advance much faster if I'd gone to school for business or IT. -
Does anyone have Jordan Poyer All 22?

All I know is he isn't Duke Williams. For that we can all be grateful.
