  1. 3 touches. A reverse that toney would've scored on. A free release on a drag route. He got some yac, good play. A busted coverage. Hall of fame?
  2. They've had some foresight in bringing in LBs and corners to try and acclimate. Need to have that same level of foresight across the roster - which i think to some extent they have. Van demark has looked... altogether fine and unnoticeable when i saw him on the field. So you have a ready made player to compete at RT if Spencer Brown has unrealistic extension demands. Throw in a late rounder for Grable this year and I think you'd have to say they're in OK shape. VPG gets a year to learn the offense, and you can make decisions next season at LG. Williams gets a shot to replace Milano - I don't dislike milano but thats a fair amount of cap space tied up in a player whos 30 and never seems to be on the field. Ulofoshio was another late round dart. 2 linemen in Carter and Solomon. This team rotates heavily and these players are cheaper than the 2nd tier free agents buffalo has traditionally filled the roster with. The volatile situation with Diggs, and an expiring gabe davis contract that everyone knew buffalo wouldn't be interested in just created such a gaping hole at the position without cap space or draft capital to properly address it.
  3. Puka's a lot like Shakir though (Nacua's bigger, Shakir's faster - both were gadgety players who projected as slot WRs), where i think they were looking for more of a boundary style player to potentially replace Gabe. I do think they both "got that dog" in them that they are hard to tackle though. Nacua's a fun player to watch.
  4. Real question... Is Buffalo's combined WR # total the lowest all time? 0 - Coleman 1 - Samuel 10 - Shakir 13 - Hollins 15 - MVS
  5. One could argue they kept some of their releases this year a year too long because they hadn't adequately replaced them - Hyde, Poyer, Morse come to mind. They did add rapp and get him a year in the system, but center and safety were drafted this year specifically to fill in the depth chart. Diggs was probably a year too early because of the cap challenges it created. End of the day, he didn't want to be here and he is a noisy player when he's unhappy. Team has some gaps this year for sure, and players either step up and become NFL players (Shakir, Williams, Hamlin), or you fail and get back to the drawing board in the draft and FA. There's a balance to how long to commit to some of these players as they get up there in age - and you have decisions next season in guys like Milano (injured again), Douglas (FA - 31), and Miller (would need another serious restructure to even consider bringing him back - or he needs to tear it up).
  6. I think the issue is most of the time the players blocking the gunners aren't looking for the ball. Doesn't matter how fast you are if you never look for the ball because it's not your job to catch the punt. The returner is likely too deep to get there, and if he doesn't see the throw - he's going to wave it off and tell everyone not to touch it because... if you touch a punt its a live ball. I just don't see it working because I'm not sure who's eligible, and I'm not sure how far you throw it to find a player. Just feels likely to hit the ground in most scenarios. Kinda has to be a check style play - I saw X number of players on the LOS which is different from their normal alignment. Maybe they go for a block and you can trickle someone out.
  7. No, probably not - and wildcat has become more irrelevant as more QBs coming out now are athletic enough to run draws, RPOs, and options if you need to. Why sub out the QB and give away what I'm trying to do? Taysom Hill is a good example of someone fitting some creative offensive play design around a player taking snaps instead of their QB. Maybe we'll see it more as more athletic QBs are drafted and potentially resulting in more position switches.
  8. It's a trick play though. The idea is that the other team doesn't know that its coming.
  9. I think part of the problem with the wildcat was that it became insanely predictable in the majority of scenarios. If a team with a traditional pocket QB chose to run it, you have to have some variety to it. Like if miami had a jet motion tyreek come across, that becomes a possible misdirection, you can also have the "quarterback" have a 2nd back as an option pitch. When you just shotgun it and run into a wall you may as well just do a QB sneak.
  10. Moving on from players - Hyde, Poyer, Morse, White, and Diggs are all on the books. Moving Diggs was also just.. terrible from a cap ramifications standpoint. Then you have void year contracts for players on expiring deals last year in Floyd, Settle, Daquan. Most teams only have one big-time player cut, and a couple of void cuts. We had a pretty similar roster construction for the last 5 seasons, won 0 super bowls, and it became apparent that the team needed to go in a different direction. There is still void money for next season - Douglas is the only big one at 4.125M, but i'd expect von to be released unless he has a good year this year. That would add a pretty substantial dead money hit, but at least there would be associated savings on the cap vs. diggs who's cap hit actually went up when we traded him. Next season there are a bunch of opportunities to extend and restructure players to create space - Josh being the big one. But they'll likely need... a CB, maybe a S, OLB if milano is released, WR is still a need, TE2 if they move on from knox, Pass rush, RT, etc.
  11. Why are we trading Elam? Why not just move a late pick in 2025? They're also projected for 2 comp picks from Davis/Floyd.
  12. I wanted him too. But as of 2024's season, MVS is probably a better pro.
  13. I feel like most of the bulldozer tackle breaking guys fumble more. Fumbles often occur when you're already wrapped up, and they're trying to keep going. The other thing is they're usually slower and when you get tackled from behind ball security becomes more of a challenge. I'll believe it when they call it in the playoffs.
  14. Very true. Also, even with Washington eating his bonus, shakir is still a cheaper cap hit.
  15. Yeah, but he's also in the less envious position of being an afterthought in that offense. Shakir is likely to get tougher coverage looks, but a lot more targets this year while Dotson likely is 5th on his team in targets behind Brown, Smith, Barkley and Goedert.
  16. It's tough - a lot of the tickets available on stubhub are likely owned by a couple of brokers who set the market. So you aren't likely to catch anything super low until far closer to gametime.
  17. Tre and Milano were hurt on one of the worst surfaces in the league - a lovely grass field covered with 3 inch plastic tray turf. Miller at ford field. Honestly highmarks a pretty lousy playing surface too. 2 more years til they unleash the pit! Whenever i've ever played on a turf field, i find that my ankles roll a little, and my knees and hips are considerably more sore than on grass.
  18. I was definitely open to a 2nd WR in this draft, with how thin we were at the position. Samuel and Shakir were at the time the only surefire starters - then adding coleman. I'm not sure a 2nd WR in the 3rd or 4th round makes that much of an impact this season, but it does give you another shot at finding that st. brown, nico collins type of player. Adding MVS post-draft was a consolation prize for what a depth WR drafted there could have contributed this season, but next season they'll be back in the market for another WR most likely and in a scenario where they need to continue to draft there.
  19. It really isn't just the board. I'm at a game and people are criticizing players, everyone sucks, mcdermott sucks. My friend literally turned around and was like... do you want me to buy you a patriots jersey?
  20. Running the table and stealing the division from Miami was pretty fun tho ngl..
  21. 2 tight ends in rounds 1-3... traded a 1 for Diggs. Signed... Brown, Bease, Sanders, now Samuel. There are seasons where as many as 6 or 7 WRs are off the board by the time buffalo drafts. After that there are gems of course, but there is a lot more trash to sift through. Who knows, maybe Coleman or Shakir is one of those gems!
  22. If you are having a QB competition, the QBs must play. We should know that being bills fans.
  23. The Bills options the last 2 years were to begin to rebuild, or double down. They thought that group could get over the top, so they doubled down on the roster and they didn't win. Now the rebuild has begun, and the cap situation is very challenging in year 1 because of the contract structures to add to the roster the last 2 seasons. And now our star player on defense just got hurt, which really sucks. The team needs some emerging players to become stars (Oliver, Bernard, Rousseau) or re-find their star power (Von). On offense, you have one of the best players in the league, behind an underrated offensive line. I see no reason that they won't be a top 10 offense for that reason alone. They should be able to run the ball pretty effectively, and even with Samuel's toe setback - Shakir, Kincaid, Knox, Cook, Coleman are going to be just fine. It's just a weird feeling knowing they probably aren't really going to be in the mix for the "top offense" in the league. Chiefs were 10-6 in games started by Mahomes last season, and it was his worst season of his career statistically. They were 9th in total yards offensively, 15th in points. They had the #2 defense in yards and points - i don't think buffalo will get there. So how do the bills punch a ticket this season? What could flip things buffalos direction? Turnovers. If buffalo can continue to create turnovers on defense as they have under Mcdermott, while also playing more of a ball control offense and avoid turning it over as much - they can make the playoffs. Once you're in - its anyone's game, and you want to be playing ur best ball come January.
  24. I've also been really disinterested this offseason. I don't know that its necessarily that i don't think the team will do well though. Moreso i just think offseason content has little pops of interesting things happen, and for the most part its just people blabbing about camp and preseason. We all know... none of this translates to the regular season. We were absolutely carved up by pittsburgh last year, and their offense was atrocious.
  25. basically 2 seasons.
