Yeah - when they played KC they had edmunds play the pass on almost every run play. It resulted in getting shredded in the run game since reid just trusted mahomes to run RPOs and make the right call. Denver and NE had good running games, but athletic QBs factored into both of those totals - same with titans and cardinals. I think the defense is a tad different than it was early in the year. Edmunds and Milano are healthy, klein has been bringing that edge. As a unit the entire group has started to come together in the back half of the year. The thing with a run heavy offense is - if you get blown up once, or get one holding penalty... you are now forced to pass and play action becomes less effective. If you aren't good enough to do these things you will struggle.

Barnwell's Entire Playoff Prediction
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Ayjent's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Should buffalo get past Indy, I think they're going to blitz the hell out of buffalo and go for turnovers. Buffalo seems to have improved against it, but they'll have some weird man zone stuff to try and bait allen into throws. It'll be interesting. -
Why do people take 538 NFL predictions seriously?

Tough schedule made it seem like 9 or 10 would be enough to win the division pre-season. -
Here is the definition of Failing UP. In Denver

So far he signed a HOF QB and squeezed all he could out of him. So I'm surprised he didn't go after rivers/brady (or maybe they felt there wasn't enough there to win it in a year or two). If Rivers retires, it makes too much sense for Reich to go after Wentz - but that could be an option. They may also consider Jimmy G, or Darnold. There's also veteran wildcards like Ryan and Stafford where everyones like... noooo they wouldnt do that. But new coach/GMs might see it as teardown time. GM might want a young QB, but Elway seems to always be a win now guy. -

Skipped over Allen for Chubb - but even this offseason too. Couldn't or didn't make an offer work with brady. Winston and Dalton got paid pennies and they showed no interest. You just gave the keys to Lock without letting him earn anything. -

His drafting resume at QB: Osweiler in the 2nd Dysert in the 7th Siemien in the 7th Lynch in the 1st Kelly in the 7th Lock in the 2nd Free agent QB resume: Manning for 4 years Case Keenum for 2 years 36M - Traded with a 7th for a 6th after 1 year. Was an overpay for sure, but he may have been the 2nd best QB to suit up for denver in Elways tenure. Flacco - Traded a 4th for Flacco, paid him like 20 million, and he was totally washed. So about 40 million over 2 years for keenum and flacco... -

Basically - I'm the new owner. -
Sure - but the offense was 9th in yards and 18th in scoring. They couldn't run the ball (Bottom 5 in YPC), so they'd pass as an extension of the run. They also were a full yard per play behind KC. Even with mahomes contract I'd take him over Herbert every time. He elevates the players around him, Herbert's numbers suggest the opposite.

Just going the ozzie newsome route and doing less day to day. But like newsome, i expect elway to continue to be involved in football decisions in some capacity. -
Air yards isn't indicative of success as an offense - look at ben and brees this year, they were both very low and had successful offenses. Just saying - he threw a ton behind the LOS and within 5-10 yards. A lot of teams do this, he did it more than most. You won't put up Mahomes numbers playing that way either.

I was a big mckenzie proponent all offseason and everyone expected him to be cut, so its nice to see someone else notice him 😄. He showed some talent with the gadget plays, but he's a lot tougher and generally a better WR than people give him credit for. TD pass, 5 TD catches, and a PR TD on like 40 total touches. I like roberts as a returner, but if I can only keep one I'd roll with Mckenzie.

Bills 17th game next season vs. Washington

Seems like a way to prevent the cap from collapsing too. -
I'd say considerably better. Mahomes career YPA is over a yard higher than Herbert. Same with Mahomes NY/A and ANY/A. Sure - he has Kelce and Hill (occaisionally watkins too). But Herbert has Allen (best slot WR in the NFL), Hunter Henry (top 5 TE), and one of the best receiving backs in the NFL in Ekeler. Mahomes is an MVP winner, Super bowl MVP, and Super bowl winner. The guy slings it all over the field, has a cannon, and plays his best football in crunch time. Herbert had moments this year, however his top 3 targets (henry, allen, ekeler) all had aDOTs under 8 yards. He also had about 150 RB targets where they all had a sub 0 aDOT. Thats basically if 2/3 targets went to cole beasley and singletary. Not to say that he can't make downfield throws, because he did - just trying to say that he did not attack down field as much, or as often.

Anthony Lynn fired by Chargers
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean - LA... Good relationship with GM... Solid QB... Good pieces sprinkled across the roster. Ingram, Henry, Pouncey come off the books so there's some cap space there as well. Could continue to build along the oline, get some young talent there. Could also see them invest in cornerbacks this offseason. -

Ingame management issues were definitely there. Twitter called him out on the end of the bills game when herbert ran a sneak - I don't think Lynn called that or would've told him that it was smart to do so. Bad timeouts, etc. Those are hallmarks of a new coach, and he isn't a new coach so thats fair to say.
