  1. On a sunny day, many of us stand in his shadow.
  2. They were recently featured on VH-1 or MTV. Great song!
  3. "96 Tears" by ? and the Mysterians or maybe "Hot Smoke and Sassafrass" by Bubble Puppy
  4. This is a bump with a twist. As a small incentive to get some more sponsors before May 4th, I am going to do a drawing this weekend for Bills team yearbooks - the oldest is 1989. The way it works is this: ANYONE who donates at least $10 to the MS Walk on my page (see my sig) by midnight Saturday will be eligible for one of four prizes. Names will be pulled from a hat, and winners announced Sunday April 20th. Next week there will be more prizes and more winners. Some will be autographed items. There will also be a grand prize announced the day of the walk, but I am not saying what it is yet! A full list of all items will be announced later this week. Thanks to all! With some pledges made off line that will be posted on my MS Walk page, the total is over $1,200.
  5. Usuallly you have to throw the first punch for it to be vicious. Welcome to the Monkey House, 'cuse!
  6. When the Bengals were an expansion team, I remember watching them play at the Rockpile, with Greg Cook as QB. It was played during one of the worst snowstorms I have ever experienced while AT a game!
  7. Maybe he was a minimum wage telemarketer trying to sell a product, not speculate on draft picks, debate marketing strategies, or question the owner's commitment to Buffalo. I am sure it was a struggle to seem enthused after repeatedly debating NFL marketing and politics, especially with people who were not buying anyway! Walk in HIS shoes for a day! Good argument perhaps - but aimed at the wrong target.
  8. Me too. Since 1967 (Lost AFL Championship at home to KC): "Wait until next year!"
  9. How can you be a Bills fan and not slit your wrists?
  10. I do think we need a lot more in a TE than another blocker, but otherwise I hope your optimism is prophetic to the 2008 season and beyond!
  11. I will take a bump from Annie than a sticky from Clump anyday!
  12. 0 for 4 was too difficult for words. I loved those playoff seasons from the late 80's until the late 90's, but man - what a rollercoaster!
  13. We refaced ours a couple years back. It was about a third the cost of new cabinets, and more to our liking than paint. I am satisfied, but I am not happy with them for a long period. I think refacing is a five year fix. My 2 cents. The basic refacing project consists of installing new cabinet door and drawer fronts and covering the exposed face frames of the cabinets with a matching wood or plastic veneer. Most jobs take two to four days, depending on kitchen size and extras like replacing counters or adding an extra cabinet. The work itself is a standardized progression of tasks, generally handled by one or two craftsmen. They begin by removing doors and drawer fronts from cabinets and roughing up the old finish on face frames and side panels to prepare them for the new covering. They then glue and sometimes nail the new finish over the old, the nail holes filled and the seams and edges trimmed to make them unobtrusive. New panels or molding are used to trim out the exposed undersides of the upper cabinets to give them a finished look, and the base cabinet toekick is replaced. Finally, new cabinet doors and drawer fronts are attached, and new hardware is mounted on each of them.
  14. I waited two years. Explanation: After my divorce and several months after they separated, I started dating my best friend's Ex. When I knew there was something between us that was more than just banging, I called him and said "Just so you hear this from me and not some rumor mill, I am dating..." He knew I did not fool around with her when they were married. I did think she was quite the fox though. Basically his reaction was good, because they had a son and he figured I would do a good job being a second Dad to his son. That was almost thirty years ago. We are still friends, and my son still has two Dads.
  15. Nutritionally speaking, a bottle of wine daily is 75% useless calories. When being social, more is "jest fine".
  16. That was me. Cutting down on the alcohol alone saves me close to 800 useless calories a day. A few weeks ago I decided not to drink at all for a while to see if it "bothered" me. After a week, the only thing I missed was the taste. I wanted to make sure I was not getting into that gray area of a "problem drinker", since I was drinking a couple beers and a couple glasses of wine EVERY day. So I pretty much just cut down to one small glass of wine or one beer (or none) if I am just home.
  17. Some favorites: Tom Hanks: A League of Their Own Peter Sellers (three characters): Dr. Strangelove Roy Sheider: 2010 Jeff Bridges: Starman
  18. Is it the entire cabinet or just the door? It would be nice if you could replace the door. IF the door is a mess, take it off and take it to Lowes or Home Depot or (if you are very fortunate) a local "old time" hardware store. If the person at the larger places does not know, do not waste your time - talk to somebody else at the store for advice. Problem is if you make this cabinet look clean and new, how does that affect the rest of the kitchen cabinets? There are some good Min Wax stains that can be rubbed on with a clean rag, to make everything look the same. This could be done to the facing of all the cabinets. Old English makes some products to "hide" stains, but I have not tried them. Most likely it is veneer so forget sanding them to "bare wood". These are only possible EASY tips. There are a lot better ones that are not easy. It depends on your goal and budget.
  19. 100% agree, but as I said earlier: "Since I am on the go a lot, if I do not grab some quick healthy food, I will eat quick crappy food. A good fruit/yogurt shake or two daily is a great way to do this." I try to cook some chicken ahead of time. I have taken to grazing a lot. Three to five servings of fruit, granola bars, whole grain bread, unsalted nuts, a couple salads, peanut butter...
  20. This is the stuff that gags me. I will have to see if it is flavored. If you make a shake the night before, it is like splackle.
  21. Yes, that is the question! I am starting to exercise and do basic work with free weights, to burn fat and get stronger. I am using Getting Stonger by Bill Pearl as a guide. I am probably 20 pounds overweight, according to most BMI charts for an average build person of my height. I am in no hurry to lose it - I want to lose it and keep it off. So we are talking a change in habits. My goal is to feel better (and look better). I will never have six pack abs and I really do not care. I just don't want to lie on the beach and have kids try to roll me back into the sea. I am not a vegan, but I also do not eat a lot of meat. I will occasionally rip into a Garbage Plate or rare slab of cow. Since I am on the go a lot if I do not grab some quick healthy food, I will eat quick crappy food. A good fruit/yogurt shake or two daily is a great way to do this. Example: Today I had an apple, banana, fruit/yogurt , a handful of almonds, strawberries, and some chicken salad. (edit: and a granola bar) Supper will be a large salad, whole grain bread, sauce and a couple meatballs, and cheese. One glass of wine. (I was drinking a couple glasses of wine and a couple beers every day) I rarely have chicken and beef in the same day, so I need to make sure I get enough protein. I have not found a powder that did not taste like I should be sprinking in my shoes, not adding it to my drinking glass! (edit: but I have only tried a couple)
  22. Moderators, can this stay here? It is not a weght loss question, just general health. I have been making "shakes" with yogurt, milk, and various fruits. I tried adding vitamin supplement or whey protein powder and it really spoils the shake for me. They do not overpower the flavor, but you know can taste it and it screws up the "texture" of the drink. Does anyone know of a way to add nutirion to a healthy shake like this, without ruining the taste? I am drinking these a lot, more and more in place of a meal, and I am generally feeling much better overall AND losing weight. As I increase my regular exercise program and add free weights, I want to make sure I am getting enough nutrition. Suggestions?
