Rub dirt on it and take a lap... Part 2
rockpile replied to rockpile's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If you are comfortable financially with the job that would make you happier, is there really a debate? -
Is there a better 1970s band than the Ramones?
rockpile replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I kind of like John Entwhistle's "I Feel Better" When I'm feeling blue, I stick a pin in the picture of you beside my bed, and I feel better, When I'm feeling sad, I remember that you were the worst lay I ever had, and I feel better! -

Quality Systems Engineer: Make sure processes exist, are used, are adequate, and controlled and maintained on a master electronic library. Plan, schedule, perform ISO 9000 audits. Conduct training classes. Track defects and find out why a product was returned. Lead product and process teams. Project management. Someone else does the engineering part, I just bring people on board the "crazy train". The nice thing is that I get to start over with a clean slate at an entirely new company. I start at the "old" company on April 6, 1980, taking warehouse orders, and worked into professional responsibilities. Some of the "teeny little minds" who were managers, could never get past the image of "that long haired guy unloading trucks" out of their heads, when I was putting multi-million dollar proposals for service logistics on the table a decade later. -

Life Is a Carnival (two bits a shot) Up On Cripple Creek (a drunkard's dream if I ever did see one) Rag Mama Rag (we could be relaxing in my sleeping bag) Lookout Cleveland (Bye-bye, baby, don't cha lie so still) WS Wolcott's Medicine Show (I'd rather die happy than not die at all) I think it was probably Richard Manuel's haunting falsetto that probably scratched your ears! The "folkies" booed them for playing rock and roll. It could be argued that "folk-rock" was invented by Bob Dylan and The Band. Remind me to bring a few CDs and a bullet to the tailgate. BTW: I liked the Ramones too! -
Don't tell Bob you bumped me!

Well then scratch Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd off the list. -

I think the 'shrooms would be better for Tull. I think they give you locomotive breath. EARLY Allman Brother (Live at the Fillmore) was just good blues/rock. No additives needed. -

Thanks, "Mahk". I was an actor too! Before every interview, I took a deep breath and said, "It's show time!" They said I interview well. -

No. I took two! One was already prepaid - a week in Puerto Vallarta, MX. The other was a weekend trip to CT, and we stayed with my daughter, Babyrock. The nice thing is that I banked all my unemployment, and did not use all my severance! -
A summary from January (edited only for brevity): Well..... I have been very busy since January 15th: created a resume revised it 25 times sent it to friends to rip it apart and return with friendly advice revised it 25 more times created a web page never felt sorry for myself attended one job fair signed up with three recruiters tried to keep a positive attitude (sometimes wore an eminence front) read everything I could get my hands on (looking for work has changed a bit since 1980) networked blogged kept the negative vibes at bay signed up for unemployment practiced living on an austerity budget got one interview with a globally recognized corporation got called back for a second interview asked the right questions gave the right answers left the interview knowing if it was right they would call they did received an offer today accepted the offer verbally pending documentation took a reasonable pay cut (I was WAY overpaid at the old job) On April 9th, I start my career over. It is exciting. I am a professional again. I am scared shitless! (drum roll please) Rockpile: Quality Systems Engineer for "a diversified technology company that concentrates its efforts on high-impact growth opportunities" woo bring it!

How Would A Bills Superbowl Win.....
rockpile replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would tip a cold one and smoke a big stogie in memory of my Dad. He was there in 1960, and brought me along for the ride. I would not have to trash talk anyone - the Lombardi Trophy says it all. I have simlar but not as intense feelings about the Stanley Cup. Hockey is not my game, but I love the Sabres. -
IF the Bills first home game is the first Sunday after Labor Day, that is official. I have a counter on my Google home page.

MS WALK "Lottery" results - 3/23/2007 This week's winner is Golden Wheels ! You can choose a signed Bills Sports card featuring either Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed or Darryl Talley. Pick one and send me your snail mail address, GW. There will be more prizes and THREE more lotteries next week, so keep checking back. Current donations are $760 and I really need your help to make or beat my goal of $1500! All you need to do is donate at least $10 to be eligible for the lottery. If you already donated, and have not won, you are still eligible for a Bills related prize.
-
Hopefully, in walking - as in fine Boosters dining - the last shall be first! (inside joke) Thanks Art!

We are at 42% That is $635 with a goal of $1500 - Woo-Hoo! A list of bribes will be posted tonight. FIRST lottery drawing will be tomorrow night, so get your bribes in now - it is for a good cause! Prize example: Thurman Thomas 1990 Score "Ground Force" card - AUTOGRAPHED

How much are tickets? I especially like his "Duke Elegant" CD. It is AMAZING that he did "Such a Night" on The Last Waltz with the Band 30+ years ago, and he seemed a bit old then! -
Those stickers aren't for the car? I was told I could get a sticker, but I will walk for as long as I can and leave the spots for people who really need them. A word of caution - some handicaps are not visibly obvious - be careful not to judge!
-
Current donation total is $385 since Monday. The event is May 6th - SEVEN more weeks to reach our goal before the walk. (tick, tock, tick, tock) MY THANKS TO SOME VERY GENEROUS HUMANS ! We are off to a good start but a long way from last year's $1,000 and farther from this year's goal of $1,500. I am putting some prizes up "lottery" style next week. Some will be by MY choice, some by drawing, some by size of donation. The prizes will include those who already sponsored me, to be fair. Some examples: Signed cards by Thurman, Bruce, Darryl and many more. Signed copies of hardcovers by Marv and Steve Tasker. Unsigned hardcovers by Jim Kelly, or Bills related. Various magazines, yearbooks, media guides.. some signed. A specially designed thank you note from the "Rockpile" with a very cool logo. There will be more as I look over my "stash". OK, I am bribing you now. What do I have to do, FART? Rock

If you ever thought your kid was a PITA
rockpile replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Babyrock's favorite musical! I have spanked (lightly) but never beat my kids. They are now between the ages of 20 and 30 and are four fine adults and friends, and still my children. Everyone should be so lucky and so blessed! When I was a kid, I was never beaten, but when I was spanked I ASKED for it. There was never any doubt in my mind. -
But, does it have a hemi?
