I was about 18, and I was walking through the living room. All of a sudden I hear this rough voice on the TV say something about the coloreds and the kikes. I stopped dead in my tracks to see what show this was! You could not say anything remotely like this on the air around 1970. That was surely a show that really pushed the limits.

Translation: Two negatives almost sounds like a positive, doesn't it? Translation: We made some very bad selections in both free agency and the draft, but we knew we had to do SOMETHING. I was in 5th grade. I remember teachers crying as we all filed to the auditorium and the principal announced the sad news. Then we went home early. No grief counselors were needed; we just went home and talked aout it to parents and each other! I also saw Oswald shot "live". It was kind of surreal. Say what you want about politics. When somebody assassinates your President, it makes everyone a bit somber and insecure.

US Troops Shoot Dead Iraqi Civilians (Reuters) If they were dead, why did the troops shoot them ?

I thought the Bills had a really good shot at the beginning of the season to make the playoffs. I will still root for them every week, but my level of expectations has dropped considerably. I do expect they will win a couple more games, and I hope some of the younger players grow into the game. I will even try to make it to one more game. The tailgating at the Ralph coninues to exceed my expectations.

Per a request by 1billsfan, I have now seen WOTW (daughter gets DVDs early where she works) and have an opinion based on viewing the movie. This is some of the worst acting I have ever seen. The underlying story (family problems) is lame. Although it did cover some of the original concepts that H.G. Wells put forth in his novels, that were ignored by the 1953 Gene Barry version, it still missed the boat. The buried space ships was the dumbest part. I liked the tripods and the special effects. Other than that the movie was not worth the time it took to watch. Original thread

After today I did not think I would smile for a while. Thanks, Darin. I turned the game off at the end of the third quarter. I cannot remember the last time I gave up on them like that. This was NOT going to be the comeback game.

Seriously, what do you think our chances are at San Diego? I think the BIGGEST weakness the Bills have had this year is letting other teams stay in the game. Best example is the loss at the Pats, but even against the Dolphins, Jets and Chiefs, they did not put it away. In the Miami game they did everything that they possibly could to toss the game! The Bills need to decisively put the game in the bag when they take a lead. I am hoping they can learn the sports "killer instinct".

We haven't had enough road plates to set a real trend.

Gotta remember, it was with OTHER people's kids. A couple of them are not being raised very well. I almost took two of them to Nick's Friday (there was a portion of the day when I only had two kids), but I did not want to upset their parents. I was just watching the "business" so I did have to be professional. Back to why I was alone.. Mrs Rock just called from NJ and I listened to Pebbles perform with the Dynamic Silver Bullets. I have seen the competition enough that I knew what stunts they were doing just by listening. I actually got misty eyed! Waiting now to hear how they placed. Tonight I am finishing that magnum of Merlot I started yesterday.

Speaking of being wrecked... This thread reminds me of a time when I lived on the shores of Lake Erie (Wanakah to be exact) and the conversations we had when I was wrecked on THC one evening (I found out what that was by taking it ). Everyone was talking at the same time, and only a word or so was heard, before the conversation bounced in another direction. Be proud, my longest thread started with a plugged toilet. Yours at least STARTED above toilet level.

A friend had a habit of starting a conversation with a girl and sliding his hand into her rear jeans pocket. One girl stopped, looked him in the eye, and said "Excuse me, I already have one !@#$ in my jeans."

I also like a good CabSav or Shiraz. I lean towards the Aussie wines (not the aussie whines) but I have to say the fruit of the vines from Argentina and Chile is getting better every day. Red wine is the choice to compliment a cheeseburger Garbage Plate.
