Not to discredit this, it is very meaningful and still rings true, but in perspective this was started in 2001 shortly after 9/11. click here

Unless he is on fluids only now, it is not Mark IV it is Mark VI (Village Idiot)

I just bought a retro 64-65 AFL Champions flag. I loved the SB era. I just want to see a return to the glory and to finally nail a Ring. Is that too much to ask after 43 years of fandom? Oh yeah... white collar, middle of the Boomers, not disgruntled. The "Man" does not deal you cards you cannot play.

I named him in training camp, and hope someday he will get enough attention for the name to catch on.

Looking for something to do on

Never been here but it sounds great. Rochester has a nice New Year's Eve Fireworks show. You can catch an independent film at the Little Theatre on East Avenue. The Little also has a small but very casual cafe, often with live jazz. Check other links on page. Location is central to everything. At least this is tasteful a place to start. I am sure they can help with the full experience you are seeking. Let me know what you find out. Inn On Broadway In 1929, the University Club of Rochester was erected to promote social commerce among its members throughout the Rochester area. Now, over 70 years later, in conjunction with the start of the 21st century, the building has been beautifully restored into The Inn on Broadway, a luxury urban inn. With a combination of deluxe rooms and suites, the Inn has something for even the most discriminating of travelers. Whether for business or pleasure, guests will find all their wants and needs well addressed. With its ideal location in the heart of Rochester's downtown East-End Theatre District, travelers will find a variety of restaurants, shops and museums all within a short stroll. In other events, RB Lionel (ZigZag) Gates was activated when the spot was opened by Sam Adams being deactivated.

Really. In about 1965, I watched a guy cheer for the Jets as he drank the contents of a juice container. He got more and more slurred and blurred and then threw up on a lady in the row in front of him. It is nothing new. What about GOOD stories of the Bills fans? I went to a game about 5 years ago, alone with no tickets in the snow, figuring to run into the Lot One crowd. Bob Lamb had a ticket for me, BadOl gave me a brew. I was introduced to an older gent who was delighted someone took the nickname Rockpile and even remembered the place, so he fed me, gave me a Corona and a Swisher Sweet! Another fan lets me camp on his lawn so I don't have to drive home on a Saturday night. I went over to Kenny's Pinto and had no brews and I was handed three. I went to McFadden's in New York City and was made to feel at home by mostly complete strangers. I can go on and on about fun times, strangers becoming friends, people going out of their way to share blankets, parkas, charcoal, tarps, a free ticket, a free ride, first aid, or just bring "Rockpile" coffee at his tent before the sun had come up! A fan asked me out of the "blue" to write his web site's Bills History column. Over the past three years Bills fans have sponsored me in the MS Walk for over $1600 total. Or I can dwell on the drunken fool who urges people to do the wave (when the Bills have the ball). There are bad experiences, I do not deny it. I guess I am just a "fortunate son". SEE YOU AT THE NEW ENGLAND GAME! I would like to know how fans are in other cities? Good and bad stories.

The Rockpile was the nickname of the antiquated War Memorial Stadium, that was the downtown original home of the AFL Buffalo Bills. The "Rockpile" is a 2005 marketing ploy to package cheaper seats that did not always sell out. Rockpile is my internet nickname I chose around 1996, in homage to the simple AFL roots and games I attended with my Dad. I wanted to sue the Bills but they have more seed money for lawyers.

I have heard fans in other areas are not exactly poster boys for their city's reputation too, but I could be mistaken.

I was thoroughly disappointed that the section they decided to call the Rockpile was really the white trash section. I hope some other TBDers can direct you to a relatively inexpensive but friendlier place. Two suggestions: 1. Next time report the heckler(s) to security - do NOT argue with them - they are already past reasoning. You were unfortunately guilty only by association (from what you describe). The ones cheering as your friends were escorted out may have been on the same bus trip. 2. Are you close to the field? I remember one of the wildest games I went to, in terms of total loss of control, was in a low row in the center of that end zone. Fights all around us, but I have a knack for avoiding trouble and have not been directly "attacked". One other time I had seats in the lower end zone visitor's side. I was with a Jets fan friend who wore their colors but behaved. The Jets won that day, and no one bothered him. Go figure. It is a crying shame that this goes on in ANY venue, but happening at a Bills game makes it feel personal.

Agreed but as Coach Tuesday pointed out, that is what the OBD spin machine sold us, and I was dumb enough to want it so bad that I believed it. On the positive, I also like what I see in JP, ESPECIALLY with the no-huddle, and improvising some of his own plays. As far as Ralph Wilson, I have to tip my hat to you for keeping the team alive, the AFL alive, and the Bills in Buffalo, but respectfully - it is time to sell the team to a WNY owner (like Golisano) and walk away. It is either that or open the wallet and spend every penny now if you want a Ring, because you (and me) are TOO OLD to keep saying wait until next year! This is Super Bowl FORTY fer chrissakes.

Agreed. Right now, at best, he is a Ronnie Harmon or Greg Bell.

I am not old. I started my second half century 2.5 years ago.

I probably went to ten games at the Rockpile total. Am I old?

Babyrock and her boyfriend already have tickets to New England. With luck I will be there too! Look forward to meeting you.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to live in the "now" and not take things for granted. My prayers are with you and your family.

All I know is that I tailgated with Petrino, and he was all right. I stay out of politics and religion if I can.

We were told we could leave at 3:00, but someone needed to stay to cover the help / order desk until 5:00. The other folks on my team are a great crew, so I told them all to go home. So I am at work goofing off (legitimately). Happy Thanksgiving to all!
