  1. But... you did so well, why should I google?! I only hope they can repeat in 2006 (thanks for the link). They neglected to mention Irondequoit as one of the towns with girls on the team; west-siders are snobbish sometimes. This year at least 6 -8 starters are formerly from Eastridge High. They were only doing an exhibition today. Nov 17-20 they will be in Tom's River NJ, but I am staying home. Me and the boy are stag! I am doing Myrtle Beach in March though. Also, I avoid photo links to cheelreaders when my daughter is on the squad, but your link was quite tasteful.
  2. There was an all day cheerleading competion and youngest daughter, "pebbles" is a member of the Dynamic Silver Bullets. The teams ranged from 4-5 year olds, learning synchronicity and tumbling, to early 20 somethings who still enjoy the competition. Some was amatuerish, some was borderline ESPN competition. The daughter is on a team trying to get polished for the CanAms in Myrtle Beach in March. They are good but will need to be great to compete in NC. Spent some time talking to alumni Lou Piccone and Charlie Ferguson. The latter was on the 64 & 65 AFL champions. I was just getting into a nice conversation wth him when his lunch arrived. I tactfully excused myself so he could eat in peace. They were selling Hunter's Hope Bears and wristbands. I picked up a very nice retro 64-65 AFL Champions flag with the classic red Buffalo from Piccone. A portion of the Alumni Club sales was going to charity, and I got a great souvenir! Hope there is a bills game on next time I go to RWS.
  3. Yes, you do have a choice. You always have a choice. It takes a few minutes to type a reply and it takes a conscious decision to click on the "add reply" key. You can respond to the individual who made the comments that offended you or you can attack the fat americans who haven't said one nasty thing about you. Your choice.
  4. No argument. I stand corrected. The small slice of the Syracuse broadcast radius was just North of Naples on Rte 21 (Woodville?). I think it had a population of 5 people and several hundred dairy cows. Did that coincide with AFC games going to NBC and NFC games going to Fox? I know it came down to Buffalo getting out the map and a compass and drawing a circle on a map - AND enforcing the policies. A friend up the hill from me used to get Syracuse stations on his 2nd floor. We used to watch some of the games there.
  5. He didn't mean it. My Retrackshun: by T. Diddy Owens Loud mouthed SOB just did not want to get suspended.
  6. I would never try to gauge who is more or less a fan. I also would never try to stop folks from trying to identify the team's current shortcomings. I guess what I do not like is when people are throwing in the towel after 8 games, ignoring the next 8, and already speculating on what to do in the off season. I prefer to doing that in the OFF season. My ref to the comeback game was only to remind everyone that stranger things have happened.
  7. Jim Marshall HOF Player, but could not seem to find his direction on this play. The 2005 Bils have heart but lack direction. credit: Jim Marshall HOF profile
  8. Good to finally hear some FANS speaking here. I am only guaranteed 16 regular season Bills games a year and I will be DAMNED if I start looking to next season until this one is finished. Read the thread on the comeback game - it is not over til it's over! GREAT article!
  9. <ahem> I have 5 grandchildren and was only 16 when Woodstock happened (I saw the movie). Have we ever met?
  10. Kind if like the number of people that attended the FIRST (and only real) Woodstock!
  11. This is more of a scene setup than a game account. You will get plenty of those! Having been destroyed by the Oilers the previous week, the non-sellout game was televised via satellite in Rochester (this was before they changed the blackout rules). Jim Kelly was out with an injury, and it was bitchin cold, so my buddy and me decided to go to a local pub to watch the Bills play the Oilers for the 2nd consecutive week. Standing Room Only on the second floor of Hitchcock's, we each had a pitcher of draft in one hand, a glass of beer in the other, and our legs were really starting to ache, while the Bills fell behind 28-3 at half time. As the half-timers cleared out, seats opened up and we grabed a couple nice ones by the big screen. My buddy asked "What do you want to do?" I replied, "The beer is cold, the game is on, we got good seats, and if we go home the wives will probably want us to go shopping." "Good point" he said. So we stayed put as the second half opened, to an immediate interception that was returned for a TD making it 35-3. My buddy asked "What do you want to do?" I replied, "The beer is still cold, I'm staying" "Good point" he said. Ever build a really nice sand castle only to realize you placed it in low tide? That is what the Oilers must have felt like as everything bounced Buffalo's way for the rest of the game. By the 4th quarter, the bar was rocking - the floor was actually moving as the fans danced and sang the SHOUT! song over and over. There was a long line of people waiting to get in, but the pub's legal capacity limit was already over the line. On TV we saw fans climbing the fences to get back into Rich Stadium. What an unbelievable game. Afterwards, I approached two Oilers fans who stayed right to the end. I shook their hands and said it was good to see true team fans. All they could do is mumble and give me that vacant, incomprehensible, wide-right look as they wandered out of the pub.......... I understood their pain.
  12. My kids were of the "Ice Ice Baby" era, but I was not of the "Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow and Anne Murray" crowd. I almost got into a fight in a bar playing BeeGees, with hair over my shoulders and my DISCO SUCKS shirt on.
  13. You're a man?! I thought that was a vibrator in your jeans!
  14. Mark Knopfler Bob Dylan Jimmie Cliff Van Morrison Grateful Dead Tim McGraw Carlos Santana Lee Ann Womack Harry Connick Jr Bela Fleck ...that is just off the top of my head (ain't nothin else up there.) Quick anecdote. The wife is a city girl. Born and raised in Rochacha. I was trying to tell her that Tim McGraw was "country" not just pop. She could not accept that she loved his music if he was country. I tried to argue my point, but obviously the dummer sex was wrong so I shut up. I just dropped it - no sense arguing over dinner, as his music played in the background. After one song I asked her if city folk used phases like "permanent hitch in my git-a-long" and ducked a spoonful of lasagna hurled at my head. Now at least I have her convinced the music they play at "The Roost" is country disco, not country. I miss watching them dance the Tennesse Two Step. Another quick anecdote: I can't remember people's names to save my life, because my mind is filled with trivia. Case in point. A friend and me are listening to 3Wk - underground classic streaming audio. This song comes on and he asks who it is. My reply: John Entwhistle, former bassist for the Who, deceased, song is Ten Little Friends off Whistle Rhymes, his second solo LP. At least I think it was his second because he did Smash your Head Against the Wall. Whistle Rhymes and THEN Mad Dog (I think) So the next time I see you at a tailgate and do not remember your name, remind yourself that somebody has to retain this kind of stuff for posterity! Simpson will go the route of Hansen and NKOTB, as even (gasp): ? and the Mysterians and Bubble Puppy.
  15. Cheers theme by Nilson Schmilson
  16. Gene Pitney's voice and Ronnie Montrose's guitar both made that song "cry"; they squeezed every note out. In Goldfinger I loved the muted horns.
  17. ...but apparently positive news does not make him sponge worthy to the doom and gloom hate clubs.
  18. I would amend this to say "until TD recognizes that OL is a skill position and fills the position with skilled players".
  19. <cough> blowjob <cough>
  20. Boy, you are old! p.s as a kid I watched his weekly show too.
  21. How many did YOU eat?
  22. When my kids were little we really enjoyed walking with them, often in costumes ourselves! We got a lot of city kids, driven in by their parents. Hell, when I lived in the city, I drove to the burbs, too! It is a LOT safer. I had lots of lights on so the kids could see where they were walking. I observed MOST of the kids had adults with them or at "viewing distance" allowing the older kids a little freedom while making sure they were OK. Yes, we had the ignorant hood mobiles too, carrying little fat kids from driveway to driveway, but some people DO suck. In general the kids were well behaved, said thanks, and were dressed in cool costumes. I figure I had about 75 kids or more. When it got to be about 8:30 and things slowed down, I just turned out the lights and kids by passed us. Yeah there were a few obligatory smashed pumpkins in the street, but it would not be Halloween without SOME mischief. Mild weather is what brought so many out. p.s. when I was a kid, The Birds scared the stevestojan out of me!
  23. I wonder where the flag was on this blatant illegal tackle? Bruschi horse-collars Parrish
