  1. I was a huge Cruz fan before he broke out with the Giants (much to the benefit of my fantasy team). There are certainly some similarities in their styles, however Cruz is a little smaller, certainly faster and more agile. He also has better hands than SJ. I am not knocking SJ at all, it's imperative that we keep him. Cruz is just a legitimate top talent at WR. While it doesn't hurt to have Nicks and Manning playing with him, Cruz is just flat out good. He is one of those "uncoverable" guys in the NFL. Like Welker and Steve Smith (Car), this guy has so much speed and agility that double teams don't work on him. Manningham played next to Nicks for a while without looking like anything more than a mediocre WR IMO. Cruz comes in and instantly is a star....He is going to be good for a long time
  2. What really concerns me is, who are our 2nd and 3rd string long snappers? This is really a position of need and we should draft one early for depth... If they are really good we could even put them both on the field at the same time to confuse the other team...We have to find a way to get all of the talent on the field together... They say the inability to recognize sarcasm is an early sign of alzheimer's....Might want to get yourselves checked...
  3. #1 Mediocre RB coming off injury with attitude problems #2 HOF quality punter #3 Truly "special" teams gunner/4th string CB #4 DOMINANT long snapper
  4. You do understand how a 4-3 works right? 2 DT's two pass rushing DE's... A 4-3 formation would not have Soliai lining up next to Dareus and Williams, at least not the base package... As good as those guys are, none of them are 4-3 DE's. 1 of those 3 would be wasted high salary talent...
  5. While that may be a "dream line". I just don't see it as being realistic. KW has never played DE Soliai is probably going to be a top FA among dlinemen, he wouldn't come cheap, on top of the recently signed KW contract, and Dareus's #3 overall rookie contract. Signing him would most certainly mean not getting high level pass rushing and WR FA's...Those positions are far in a way more needing of top FA talent. While Soliai is a top NT, the fact remains that we already have 2 pretty good NT's signed, Dareus and KW. Just doesn't make sense. Especially considering the other major needs this team has.
  6. Welker plays with Brady. I am by no means saying he is not a talented receiver, but if he plays for the Bills he would be lucky to put up half the numbers he did with NE. I never said that small receivers can't be good, but let's be honest, they rarely make anywhere near the impact that the big guys do... The bigger receivers can compensate for bad QB'ing to some extent, and make plays even when covered. Yes, I know, Maze would likely be a late round pick so there is not much risk. I wouldn't be pissed if we took him in the 6th. My point was simply that I want to see the Bills get quality, big receivers.
  7. I guess I just don't get it. We have Kyle Williams, who went to the pro bowl last year. We have Dareus, the 3rd overall pick and 340 lbs. He had a tremendous season playing both DE and NT IMO. He was just a rookie to top it off... We even have decent depth at DT with Heard (340 lbs), Spencer Johnson, and Troup if he is ever healthy again. Soliai is good, but I don't think he is necessarily better than KW or Dareus. He may be better as a 3-4 NT than Williams, but not as a 4-3 DT. Either way Williams is signed to a long contract, and will be the guy. More importantly we DON'T have good DE's, or OLB's...a MUCH bigger concern for this team. Why sign the top FA at a position which we are already set at? Put that money towards Williams, Avril, Bowe, or someone that would actually fill a need. If the Bills go 4-3 (significant chance that they will), how do you get Soliai, KW, and Dareus all on the field at the same time? You don't. Just because Soliai is a good player, doesn't mean it would make sense for the Bills to sign him...
  8. That description sounds like EXACTLY what the Bills need. Combination of size, speed, and rushing moves, plus the ability to play either DE or OLB. If the Bills think he can live up to that description, that pick would be just fine by me... Playing next to KW and Dareus would give him plenty of opportunity as well.. I didn't watch a ton of Ingram live though, so I have to rely on other's descriptions and opinions.
  9. So you would prefer a dominating pass rusher like Ryan Denny at 6-7 or Aaron Maybin at 6-4...as opposed to those bums like Dummerville and Harrison who are under 6 foot... Upshaw is great, and if the Bills plan to use a 3-4 I'm all for him...If they go 4-3 he probably isn't the guy...
  10. Agree. I do think he will be a great LB, and could rush the passer just fine out of the 3-4, but the Bills may not use that scheme. It's unknown how he would fare as a DE. Personally I don't think this is a very impressive class of pass rushers overall, unfortunately for the Bills. Hopefully the Bills FO will do their homework and pick the guy that can help us the most. Whether that is Upshaw or someone else. Maze is a less proven version of Roscoe Parrish...Pass....
  11. Umm, no. Why would you get rid of a top notch RB, in favor of a mediocre one? Not to mention wasting a high draft pick on one of the few positions we are set at. Most importantly this just simply isn't going to happen. Jackson is signed through this upcoming season. Either they reach an extension or they don't.
  12. I've kind of lost my appetite for extremely undersized WR's...
  13. Of all of the needs on the Bills, this is probably the position we need to worry about the least. We have two monster NT's/DT's already. Put that money towards a top notch DE or OLB...
  14. The patriots had nothing to do with this, any assertion otherwise is just conspiracy theory BS. Every single fan watching at home knew what down it was, the coaches knew what down it was, Billy Cundiff must have been too busy listening to Hanson on his iPod to pay attention to the actual game. Besides, shouldn't the ST coach be making sure his players are ready for the most important play of the game? The worst part about this whole thing is that Baltimore had a time out...If there was ANY confusion on the most important play of the game why not use it? Instead the game ended with it still on the board. The blame for this play can be split equally between Harbaugh (and the ST's coach) and Cundiff...
  15. You are right about OLB being a weak spot for the Bills...But comparing him to Maybin probably isn't a great way to present your case...
  16. Didn't he play OLB? Keith Ellison did well for himself, considering he was an undersized backup type of LB...But he still is what he is. If the Bills every truly want to be good again, they need to start looking for top quality players, not just mediocre guys that can hold their own...In my opinion anyway.. Edit: I'll answer my own question. He played almost entirely OLB for the Bills, but started 2 games at ILB in 2010. Poz/John Digorgio played MLB during those years.
  17. I wish I could argue against your logic, but I can't... The only comfort I have is that I do believe Nix has more of a clue than any of his recent predecessors, and I believe he will have the ability to spend most of that cap space. So while I do think we can get a few pretty good FA's here, attracting the top talent may be difficult at best...
  18. Harbaugh deserves as much credit for the loss as any player. Especially when you factor in that he didn't use a time out before the missed field goal. He rushed the kicking unit on, it looked like they barely got set to kick.
  19. I agree with that. Williams definitely SHOULD be in a 4-3, and I'm sure wants to be in a 4-3. But do we know what the Bills are doing yet? What if Wanny tells Williams that they will be going to a 4-3?
  20. I'd love either of those guys. Williams would give us one of the strongest 4-3 dlines in football. Avril was probably the most underrated DE this season, and might be a better pure pass rusher than Williams. Every time I watched him he was all over the opposing backfield, this guy has star talent...
  21. You make a good point. Give me a full season of Fitz with a consistent roster, then we should have a good idea of the "real" Fitz. Personally I think it's too much of a coincidence that Fitz's play went down, at the same time the Bills suffered an assortment of major injuries. I don't know he will every be the guy you give a "franchise" label to, but I think he can get you to the playoffs with a good team around him. And yes, for now I would "settle" for just making the playoffs after over a decade of not...
  22. I certainly wasn't expecting everyone to agree with me on that statement, but those vague and relatively equal stats were the best argument you could come up with? Flacco is on a team absolutely loaded with talent. Good Defense, good oline, good WR's, good RB's (bad kicker). Flacco has never been anything more than mediocre, even with all of that talent. Even his own players have called him out. He holds onto the ball forever, and half of the time he tries to run ends up with him being sacked or losing yards. He long throws aren't much more accurate than Fitz's. He reminds me of the Bills QB's of the last decade, athletic, have the tools, but don't have the brains. Too many sacks, not enough good decisions. Fitz may not be anything special either, but he has done more with far less in his 1 full season as a starter. Obviously opinions on this could easily go either way. As far as Alex smith goes, he was this years Trent Dilfer. A below average QB, just asked to manage the game while the defense and RB's do the rest... IMO, you shouldn't base opinions on players by looking at their stats, you should instead form opinions based on watching them play. Especially obscure stats like YPA. JP Losman put up over 7.1 YPA in 2006, an awful season. Bottom line, if Flacco and Fitz switched teams, I think the Ravens would have more success, and the Bills less. Also any stat can be used to try and make a point, regardless whether it matches up with play on the field or not. You could look at Fitz' 62% completion rate and 24 TD's this year, on a team with virtually no WR's, compared to Flaccos 57% and 20 TD's...
  23. But didn't you hear? Elvis and 2-pac are alive, and 9-11 didn't really happen...
  24. Brady does get his share of helpful calls from the referee's on occasion, but this wasn't one of them. Most of his ref help comes if a player gets to close to him, or accidentally breathes on him, let alone make contact. A good example of a "Brady call", was during the Bills game when Florence nudged him during a completely legal block on an INT return. Brady flopped to the ground, and the ref called it "Driving the QB into the ground"... See for yourself http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-fantasy/09000d5d8259a7a5/Bills-defense-INT Even Jets fans thought so... http://www.jetsinsider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=239359
