  1. True, but he won't be any worse either. I'm sure if you asked any Bengals fan they'll tell you that they don't miss having Fitz on their rostergiven Dalton's potential (and Fitz's lack thereof). The fact is there's only one sure-fire QB in the draft this year, and the Bills would never consider making a play to get him, so get used to being subpar. MIA and NYJ don't always make the best moves, but at least they take chances to improve their team and close the gap with NE. They may land Flynn and Manning, respectively, and we'll go to bat with the Cornish Gunslinger. The good news is that we will eventually suck bad enough to draft someone of Luck's potential and possibly end the drought. Maybe the L.A. Bills will be competitive later this decade (under new management).
  2. ... and worse than half of the QBs in the league. And we're about as good as any 8-8 team. Unfortunately, we don't play in the NFC, so 8-8 won't cut it. Over the last 20 years, I can name two teams that won the SB that didn't have a franchise QB at the helm. Why wouldn't you give up a lot to get Luck who everyone seems to think is the 2nd coming and will likely be a top tier QB in the league for years to come. The Colts put Peyton Manning on a crappy team and he helped turn that organization around. As a FA, would you come to Buffalo to play with Luck or Fitz? Not to mention the fact that he'll single-handedly sell out the Ralph. Sure, you can say we have other holes to fill, but who doesn't. NE's defense has been abysmal this year, but they have a franchise QB and are playing in the SB (again). I'd be willing to wait another year or two for the turnaround if I felt like there was a light at the tunnel. With FItz, the only light is a train coming the other way with every other team on board - we're still headed in the wrong direction (as evidenced by the number of playoff appearances this century).
  3. Any chance we'll have a Franchise QB in the next 3-5 years (and please don't say that Fitz is it). Growing very tired of mediocrity. Tired of seeing top tier QBs guide their respective teams to the playoffs year in and year out while the Bills sit at home. Say what you want about the Bills other team needs, but they will never be better than average until they have a true Franchise QB.
  4. I don't disagree, but they never stretch to get one either. Rothlesberger went a couple picks before the Bills picked. The point is not that they ever passed one up, but they never make a bold move to try and get one, either (painful exception - JP Losman). There are some QBs that will likely have long successful careers in this draft, and they'll watch them go to other teams and live with what they have. The difference between the Bills and the perennial playoff teams are that the Bills haven't had a franchise QB since Kelly. The teams with franchise QBs are in the playoffs year in and year out. It's a QB league - just look at the teams that are successful. Sure, we might have to take a small step backwards if we gave up picks to move up, but how much farther back can we really go? I say find one and go for it. If not this year, next year, but soon! Fitz is not the long term answer. He's not even the short term answer. Unfortunately, they overpaid for him, so he will be the next in a long line of Bills QB busts. Can't wait until next season. :-|
  5. ... which is why the Bills should NEVER pass on a potential franchise QB, even if they have to stretch to get him. I guarantee you the Colts will make the playoffs more often than not with Luck at the helm just like they have with Manning. Why can't we pick up a Franchise QB (not Fitz) that can do the same. All of the elite QBs are in the playoffs and usually make it year in and year out. And where are the Bills come January year in and year out - watching the playoffs with their 2nd tier QBs.
  6. ... if they don't, then they're stupid, cuz Fitz ain't the long term answer as he clearly demonstrated. There are some talented 2nd and 3rd round QBs that could make it big in the pro's and some latter round talents like Keenum and Moore. The Bills NEED to pick a QB in this draft - if for no other reason than for depth and to develop a future starting QB prospect.
  7. Trade Jackson - we're just going to lose him next season, anyway. Pool Jackson with our 1st round pick (and maybe a late rounder) and move up to take FRANCHISE QB. We are not going anywhere without a franchise QB. Sure we'll be competitive some weeks, but we're never really going to be in contention. Look at the teams that have top-tier QBs - NE, NO, GB, Ind, Pit - when their QBs are healthy, they're always making the playoffs and oftentimes playing in the SB. Few teams with average QBs are making late season pushes. If you're happy with mediocrity, stay the course. I like Fitz, but he's not the long term answer - that is obvious. Do something in free agency and move up to take a QB that will make us competitive for the next decade (or longer). Enough is enough.
  8. The teams that are making the playoffs (and winning the SB) year in and year out have ELITE quarterbacks on their roster (See Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Roth, etc.). Anyone who doesn't think this is a quarterback's league needs a CAT Scan. Fitz is a middle tier QB ON HIS BEST DAY - we will not win a SB with him. Period. Why we wouldn't give up picks/players NOW to secure the team for the next decade is beyond me. Draft one of the most highly touted QBs in recent memory, generate some buzz (translation: sell some tickets Ralphie), and let's put a competitive product on the field. Enough with the 20-year plan to turn the Bad News Bills into a 9-7 team. If Ralph wants a shot at winning the big game while he's still on the sunny side of the turf, he should do everything necessary to secure a top QB in THIS draft - even if it takes us another year or two to put the right pieces around him. Of course, there are plenty of you who will want to draft a DE, LB, WR, or OT. For you, I'll point out that there are plenty of teams with excellent position players that never play in the post season. If that's what you want, be prepared for another decade of hoping that we might put together a team that can squeak into the playoffs as a wild card only to get pounded by a team with a FRANCHISE QB.
