Mort: Browns rebooting coach search
ganesh replied to Sisyphean Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a little out of the blue. Why would he take the DC job of the Bills, but spurn the HC job of the Cleveland browns. Both have similar talent levels and the Browns have a "less" of a issue at QB than the Bills (especially in a weak QB draft). IMHO, from a coaching perspective, both the Browns and Bills are on par with regards to everything. In fact, the one strong thing going in favor of the Browns is the stability at the ownership position. If you are the HC of the Browns you have a shot at a 3-year program to resurrect them. If you come to the Bills, who know what happens, if RW passes away. That uncertainty will always hang over the Bills. -
He sucked as our starting QB and he sucked as our QB coach and he sucked as the interim OC. Pass.

Who really thinks Nix is in charge with this hire?
ganesh replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Nix's stint as GM has been average. He has added some good talent and depth to the roster, but has also made some critical blunders especially at the QB position. The only think a good GM would have done is to look at the 2013 QB class and realize that there is nothing there and made a conscious effort to pick one of the QBs in a QB rich draft in 2012. Some of the other failures on Nix's part is bringing in Merriman and paying him all that money, signing a washed up RG in Green. Finally, to this day, the signing of Brad Smith has been a big bust. -
Realistic Supporting Staff
ganesh replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No to Greg Williams and DeHaven. The game has gone past DeHaven. He is a average to poor ST coach. I hope the Bills can get Bobby April back after he was purged in Phildaelphia. Gregg Williams should never coach in the NFL for what he attempted to do with the players. -
Kyle Williams and calling out Bills effort
ganesh replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure who these players are. The only one that is wild is Barnett, who free-lances on plays. Sheppard and whoever is the other LB are simply not good. Dareus will probably go through a tough conditioning and off season and may be Maronne will be able to motivate him. -

A quote from another article on TBD front page: "The Bronx native immediately set out to change the culture of the Orange program — instituting a discipline and dress code that was an abrupt departure from the previous coaching staff. More than 20 players left the SU program during Marrone’s first 15 months on the job." I think this will be really good for the Bills. The Bills teams in the past have had really soft HCs in Jauron and Gailey. Some amount of discipline (especially when taking off plays or free lancing for others) will help mold this team. This has been one of the biggest areas of concern for the Bills. I hope Doug can turn this around and have them focused to play full 60 minutes.

Please don't tell that to the two teams. Every team cherishes playing in a post-season game. It means national recognition for their program.

Brandon moore could replace Levitre
ganesh replied to jcbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
:wallbash: Levitre is young and in the prime of his career. We need to re-sign our best. Our weakest list is our QB. It would be interesting to see how the Doug's are going to resolve that position. I just hope they do not think Fitzpatrick is the answer. You need consistency from the QB position to win and the only consistency that Fitz has given is that he has started for close to three seasons with 15 wins. It is insane to assume that we can easily replace Levitre, our best OL player. We need to re-sign both Byrd and Levitre and the Bills have the money and cap space to get it done. The real question is whether Byrd and Levitre want to be a Buffalo Bills football player. -
Mort: Browns rebooting coach search

I don't think the Browns would have made a "Splash" if they had hired Morronne. I don't think the Browns are in any bad shape. There are still some excellent Head Coaches available. -

Last year, they lost out to Washington on RGIII and this year Kelly turns them down. I feel bad for the Browns. -
Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach
ganesh replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think you need your HC to be a Offensive or Defensive genius. Your HC should be able to develop the team in all three phases. He should be able to motivate the team and bring a sense of direction. In fact, I would prefer that our HC not call any plays and focus on the game as a whole. -
Actually doing the WC offense with Spiller will be awesome, especially if they can get an accurate QB like Alex Smith. This may actually work especially if they can get Levitre and Byrd signed up. Then they can focus on the 2nd WR and the LB Corps in the draft. Lovie, Testman adn Marinelli Get Er Done

And Andy Dalton - 2 seasons - 2 playoff appearances (0-2). Fitz Patrick - Almost 3 full season of QB play - playoff appearances (ZERO). The Texans Defense was pretty stifling today. Wade Phillips called an awesome game today.
-
I don't know if Norv Turner is connected with Lovie to become his OC. I saw a ESPN article where they suggested that Norv Turner could become the OC of the Jets replacing Sporanos. That would be a big blow to the Bills. I hope the Bills can snatch Norv Turner as the OC.

Who will be the Defensive Coordinator. I do not want the HC to also be coordinating the offense or defense.
-
Special Teams Coach: Ronnie (Freaking) Jones And No one should forget our very own Chuck Lester!!!! (Longest Tenured Coach in Buffalo Bills History)
-
The guy came to work just a day after his son had committed suicide. While I respect his choice, I think he (Andy) needs help. You can't hide from your problems behind your work. The more he does it, he is going to get worse. Tony Dungy did the right thing and I think it was easier for him to move on in life. I hope Andy finds his groove too.

Andy Reid next HC? (update: may go to Cardinals)
ganesh replied to Mini Max Anderson Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can we get rid of Nix and sign Pioli to run this program. That will also put Russ back in the Shadows (Where he belongs). -
Fitz is owed a 3M Roster bonus if he is on the team on March 1st. Fitz is owed a salary of 8M if he is on the roster on opening day (and it is guaranteed for the season, if he makes it to the opening day) Not sure what is the Salary cap hit, if we were to cut him before March 1st (to save the 3M cash). It is also possible that Fitz may take a decent pay cut to stay back as a starter for one more year (while the Bills draft their QB in the draft) as his chance to start for another team in the league is almost zero. Of course, I don't like the idea of Fitz starting for us next season, but it is a reasonable possibility, as the difference between a Fitz Vs Smith or Fitz Vs Vick or Fitz Vs Flynn (who is an unknown) is almost negligible. Also, both Alex Smith and Vick's contract demands will be more than Fitz. The only other alternative is for the Bills to go with the rookie QB right from training camp (Like Dalton and Ponder for the Bengals and Minnesota last season and like the 4 rookie QBs this season).
-
If Horton is really that hot candidate, then I just don't see Arizona letting him go especially considering that Reid (their first choice) will sign with the Chiefs. That leaves Lovie, Wisenhunt or McCoy to the Bills (Assuming Kelly goes to Philadelphia). Will Chicago make a run for an offensive minded coach like McCoy or Wisenhunt. Where do the Browns stand in all this. Is Maronne their first choice?

 A HC must perform his responsibility of being the coach of the entire team. When he takes on additional play calling duties, then it is overwhelming (at least for most of the coaches).

Darrell Bevell and Mike McCoy for HC!
ganesh replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And also be just HC. I would like them also to give up calling the plays on the Offense. One of the failings of Chan was that with the OC duties, he simply did not have the time to be the HC of the Buffalo bills. It appeared that there were no chemistry between the HC and the Defensive and ST players. I rarely saw Chan congratulating and patting the Defensive players when they came off the field.
