Andy Reid next HC? (update: may go to Cardinals)
ganesh replied to Mini Max Anderson Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
:wallbash: Good coaches are hard to find in the NFL. I would rather than an Andy Reid than a retread like Chan Gailey any day. -
Thought processes by people here I don't understand

The main issue with Nix (on this board) is that he did not pick and groom a QB in his three seasons and that is a big mistake considering that the QB position is the most important piece of the puzzle. Posters simply point out that Nix had the chance to pick a good QB to be groomed and missed at each point (Kaepernick for Aaron Williams, Wilson for TJ, Cousins etc). Without a young QB in waiting, Nix put all his eggs in the Fitzpatrick basket and it backfired on him. Gems at other positions are good (all teams find those gems in the later rounds), but unlike successful GMs around the league, he did not address the QB situation in three years. -
The offense was OK in the 1st half of the season and stunk up the joint in the 2nd half with horrible plays against Ten/Indy/St. Louis/Miami games that we could have won with better offense. The defense adjusted in the 2nd half of the season, tightening up the run before giving up in the last three games again. The Special Teams was good in the 1st half, but pedestrian in the 2nd half. Overall, the team could not put together a game where all units were good at the same time on a consistent basis. And that solely reflects on the weakness of the HC and his coordinators. The Bills gave up 23 Rushing TDs, worst in the league.

Greg Williams ??? Because they had a horrible offense. Some of the defensive stats that I picked off from NFL Arizona The Cardinals lead the NFL with 58 sacks in 2012. (Bills had 30 sacks, 23rd in the league) The cardinals lead the NFL with 21 Interceptions in 2012 (Bills had 17 INTs) The cardinals were 8th in Forced Fumbles with 17 in 2012 (Bills had 19 FF) The cardinals were 16th in total points allowed (357) in 2012 (Bills allowed 437 points and were 25th in the league) Both teams had horrible RUN Defenses. The Cardinals finished 28th and the Bills 31st, though the cards gave up only 4.3 yards per rush while the Bills were a generous 5 yards/rush Overall the Cards defense was much better than the Bills.

Buffalo obsession with Steeler retreads
ganesh replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't believe the bills ever considered him for a HC position. Mularkey offered him the DC position, but Lebeau had the choice of the same position with the Steelers and he took that. My point was that the Bills did not lock him up earlier by giving him the DC role. If they had done that, when Mularkey came on, he would have had his DC of choice. The Bills by failing to lock him up allowed him to walk away and take an equivalent position as the DC of the Steelers. -
Lovie as HC with Norv Turner as the OC would be good. Norv will get the best out of Spiller and Jackson like he did with Tomlinson, Gore, Emmit Smith, (and even the scrub RB in Miami for two seasons). The question is: Does Lovie have an experience coordinator to run this piss-poor defense.
-
One thing I remembered from almost a decade ago...The Steelers were very happy to let Mike Mularkey go as the OC (to become the HC in Buffalo) along with his QB coach Tom Clements and replaced him with Ken Wishenhunt. At that point there were several articles as to whether the Bills made the error of hiring the wrong coach. Of course, the Bills also did not have LeBeau under contract and hence could not hire him as their DC. LeBeau went to run a top-5 defense in Pittsburgh for the past 8 years.

Dehaven sucked and played scared...like his HC. He is done in the NFL and I am glad they let go of him.

Buffalo obsession with Steeler retreads
ganesh replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And the one guy who was very good and could have turned around this defense..Dick Lebeau...They let him walk by not making him the DC at the right time. He went on to coordinate a top-5 defense for an entire decade. -
Agreed. The only reason I pointed to Decastro was the previous message mentioned that DeCastro is playing excellent and that is simply not true. Sure they do. Just that they do not reduce their expectation levels so low as the Bills.
-
Hey, I see progression there...First a Unit Coach, Second a Coordinator Job and finally the HC Job...Are the Buffalo Bills in for a 0-16 season in 2013, their worst regular season record.....

Who is the QB? If Chan runs that offense with Fitz as the QB, we are not going anywhere even if the defense improves. Chan and Fitz must go.

Kyle Shanahan and Geno Smith = The perfect combo
ganesh replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, Bruce Airans has coached a very similar QB in Ben Rothelisberger. Big Ben does not run with the ball, but moves around to let his WRs open so that he can make plays. They may be a better team. -
Nix Doesn't Deserve To Pick A New Coach
ganesh replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had the choice to retain Perry Fewell as the HC. He had motivated this team far better at the end of the 2009 season than what Chan has done in 3 years. He also could have considered Bobby April for the position. -

And Dungy took over from Jim Mora and inherited a golden team in Indy and won ONE superbowl with the best QB to have played the game. What is your point. -
I saw DCastro's name called multiple times against the Bengals and you could see that he was pushed so far back towards Big Ben. I don't believe DeCastro is having a good rookie season. Pouncey is a pro-bowl center who provides them stability at the center. Rest of their OL is garbage at this point. The Steelers play in a different zone than the Bills. They can effectively re-load and be back in the playoff hunt as long as they have Big Ben.

We know Chan's a goner. Here's Ralph's list.

Perry Fewell as HC Chan as HC (along with Fitz as his QB)  My personal choice for HC, who will be tough and get the best out of this under-utilized team - Bobby April -
Kyle Shanahan and Geno Smith = The perfect combo
ganesh replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The chance of us getting Geno Smith is pretty slim. Two QB needy teams are ahead of us and with slotted salaries, the Jaguars are not going to let him get past them. And without a sure fire QB, HC candidates like Shanahan and Arians will stay away from Buffalo. THey know that they have no chance to win with Fitz. We are going to be stuck with another run-of-the mill coaches. That is why I would like the Bills to make a play for Bobby April. Not many teams are going to give him a chance. He is a fiery coach who has his unit @ the top in Seattle, Buffalo and Philadelphia. He can go ahead and bring in some up coming QB/WR coach to be the OC. The key will to be able to get a good DC. Are any of the HC that are likely to be fired be a good DC candidate and will run a 4-3. -
The problem is that there are always 4-5 QB hungry teams and will make him a 1st round pick like we did with Losman and the Jaguars did with Gabbert. This will be even more true with the success of the rookie QBs this season
-
Chandler is solid, but he has been a no-show for most of the 2nd half of the season (Just like last year). And Fitz stops finding him when he needs him.
-
And add the fact that he (with Mike Brown) showed 30 other owners that they were asinine to sign that CBA in 2006 only for them to reject it a few years later. That vision (or stating a simple fact that the owners haven't had a chance to look through the deal) differentiated him from the rest.

Gailey's Stubborness - "Fitz Gives Us Best Chance"
ganesh replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
\ Wrong. Jackson is much better than Thigpen. At the worst case, wouldn't you want Jackson to back up Fitz, in case he is hurt in the game. Chan, Fitz, Thigpen, Jackson all must go this off season -
Bills vets on "CJ gets winded" (from twitter)
ganesh replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan has screwed up in every single QB decision: Trent Edwards Vs Fitzpatrick Thigpen, Vince Young, Jackson. And chose three drafts to not draft a single QB in any round except for the token 7th rounder in year 1. Chan Must Go. I would rather have Munchak if he is fired in Tennessee.
