  1. I think the worst part is that our reality is shaped based on where we fall in the political spectrum. 30 years ago there were like 5 outlets for news and they were all basically the same. We could largely agree on some basic "facts" or "truths" even when they were wrong. Now we have algorithm dictated infotainment delivering a 24/7 feed of confirmation bias. Whatever you engage with the longest is the truth. Whether its deep fakes, rage bait, conspiracy theories, outright fabrications, mainstream fluff, it doesn't matter. Whatever keeps your eyeballs on the screen the longest determines what "news" you get and therefor your reality. If the news tells you the earth is round and that doesn't tickle your fancy, keep scrolling and you'll have no problem finding a community of flat earthers that will take you in. You are never alone no matter how far off the reservation you have wandered. Every viewpoint is now equal. All "facts" are equal. Very few people question their feed when its reinforcing their world view. Its increasingly difficult to find common ground and I don't see that getting better. Our political discourse is increasingly shaped by the raging debate between the lunatic fringes on either side. And now they have their own social media platforms. Which echo chamber do you prefer: every piece of art made in the past 1,000 years is a misogynistic, racist, transphobic microgression giving bad vibes OR 10 million Guatemalans have attacked the Lincoln Memorial and are eating dogs? Here's my conspiracy theory: Social media is the greatest psy op in recorded history. Soviet level cynicism incoming.
  2. They can point their nukes wherever they like, assuming they have one for this hypothetical. Just like Nathan Peterman could line up to throw the deep out route. Getting the package to the intended target is a completely different matter. An Iranian nuke pointed at the United States might hit Santorini? It sure as hell isn't landing anywhere close to an American territory. They have a long way to go with missile tech by all reports. The racists certainly do.
  3. They need to get tougher on trans rights. The American people have spoken and they demand to know where the Dems sit on trans rights! Sadly, this is likely an actual conversation happening at the DNC. Dems learned nothing over the last 8 years. If they had a candidate who would focus on jobs, prosperity, and boosting the standard of living for working class Americans they just might never lose again. Instead they're baited into debates on fringe social issues. They're more concerned about winning the supposed moral high ground than they are with winning elections and as a result they're broadly viewed as arrogant, humorless, and preachy. I think Trump and MAGA is more a repudiation of both political parties and our ruling elite. He promised to burn everything down. Ironically, the rejection of our political elitism is embodied by a rich Manhattan socialite who LARPs as a self made man but here we are. Trump's self aggrandizing travels too. Latinos and Black voters love the machismo, the under educated love the complete lack of decorum and decency. Trump is flame to the moth for everyone who has been cast aside as dumb, trashy, hairbrained, and generally undesirable. He brought them all in under the tent. He platformed their basest opinions and assured them they weren't alone.
  4. Congrats to the Panthers on a well deserved Stanley Cup win, but their celebration appears to be orders of magnitude smaller than the crowd that gathers at the same venue for every Bills away game in Miami. I saw a report that the Bandits game aired on CW had more local viewers in Buffalo than the Panthers cup finals had in Miami. Its criminal that we do not have a competent hockey team in such a rabid market.
  5. You are missing the point. My commentary is not about the likelihood of a world war. I am simply observing that we are not seeing the histrionics about WWIII from the usual suspects. Nor are we seeing the anti-interventionist, anti-world police, isolationist rhetoric that we have been subjected to since Putin invaded Ukraine. Now its our patriotic duty to walk back everything we might have said about Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Iraq over the last 8 years. Proxy war, regime change, and intervening in the middle east was always a good idea. Russian nuclear threats were always a joke. They were a joke 4 years ago and they're a joke today. People play along when its politically expedient. When you can throw mud at your opponents and call them all war mongers, you do it. When your guy gets involved in another foreign war, its our moral imperative to liberate the poor Iranian people and you're heartless to think otherwise.
  6. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/russia-warns-us-not-help-israel-militarily-against-iran-2025-06-18/ The entire middle east has been one long proxy war since the end of WWII. Every conflict involving Israel has been funded and armed by the United States on the Israeli side and the Russians arming everyone else. I never believed Ukraine had the makings of WWIII but that didnt stop most of this forum for assuring me nukes were about fall and it was all Biden's fault.
  7. Florida looked overwhelmed in the first period of game 1 and parts of game 2 but they adapted to Edmonton's speed and got stronger the longer the series went. They completely neutralized McDavid's speed, kept him to the outside, and minimized the rush opportunities. Edmonton was forced to simplify their game. Florida turned a fast pace, finesse offense into one which had no other option but take shots from the point and get traffic in the crease. By game 6 Edmonton was a less gritty form of the Hurricanes. It was an incredible team performance on defense. And their offense was lethal. Every mistake Edmonton made last night resulted in a quality scoring chance or goal. Watching these teams play is a grim reminder of how far away the Sabres are from competing.
  8. Trump declares "We" have total control of Iranian airspace and no one bats an eye. Trump declares unconditional surrender is the only solution. Ted Cruz all but declares that the U.S. is heavily involved in the war in Iran and no one bats an eye. No concerns about WWIII kicking off. No concerns about the money spent on a foreign war in the Middle East. No concerns about America world police. Proxy war good now.
  9. If you had any balls you'd have 72 virgins by now. Where's your initiative?
  10. https://www.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-accidentally-insults-himself-142955248.html I thought NAFTA was the worst deal ever? I'm getting the impression that he says this a lot.
  11. I really don't know what to expect from the Trump obsessed. How will the people who have adorned their homes and cars with cheap Trump merch adapt in a post Trump world? And the businesses slinging Trump merch, what will they do? There are three Trump Burger locations in the houston area. Are they going to become De Santis Burger's or Marjorie Taylor Green Burgers? And then theres the scammers with their Trump NFTs and Trump Coin and Melania Coin. You cannot rebrand a crpyto currency. The Trump obsessed have based their entire personality on the guy. They do not care about issues its all a cult of personality. Can they just re-attach to the next MAGA heir apparent and deify a pretender? I expect they will completely remove themselves from politics and mainstream society at large. I don't see how they reintegrate. Its a truly strange and embarrassing condition.
  12. OMG THEY'RE TRYING TO START WWIIII!!!11!!!
  13. Expansion beyond 32 teams would be a mistake.
  14. You guys have been cheering on the extra judicial detainment and deportation of supposed illegals and American citizens without due process. I think due process means due process. Don't tread on me but tread all over them, fine patriot.
  15. Rights like due process? You want some freedoms unfettered and other freedoms trampled by force. You're a good authoritarian and its been clear as day.
  16. Thats a tough answer. Also the question is open to interpretation. Should I be thinking about this in terms of: $$$$ and never see a Super Bowl victory in my lifetime? OR $$$$ there will be no Super Bowl Victory this season? 1. Its in the millions. Its gotta be life changing money for me to basically give up on football and betray my friends, family, and hometown. 2. I could live with trading one year of Allen's prime for money and no championship. I've been doing it for free for years. This year is one of our best chances to win it all in the Allen era. I would take a $500k and convince myself it wasn't their year anyway.
  17. There's no shortage of "don't tread on me" patriots cheering and laughing as the military rolls over their fellow Americans. Funny when the green haired kid gets pepper sprayed but its tyranny and a banana republic when the guy in the "We the People" T-shirt catches charges. Plenty of hypocrisy to go around.
  18. Some of the recent nostalgia sequels have been pretty good. The new Beverly Hills Cop: Axle F, Top Gun: Maverick, Ghostbusters: Afterlife were all entertaining. Maverick might be better than the original. Nothing gets made today without attaching the movie to proven IP. As long as Mel Brooks is involved, I think it will be decent.
  19. The only thing we know for certain is that he handed a baggie containing a pink powder to some scantily clad sluts on a boat. I did a keyword search through the NFL bylaws for sluts, pink, powder, baggie, and boats and came up with nothing. I really do not see what rules he could have violated.
  20. Its remarkable how much of an effect that December injury had on his performance in weeks 1 through 15.
  21. It is ridiculous that Houston does not have a team. 4th or 5th biggest city in the country, the old IHL team had some of the highest attendances in the league, theres a lot of canadian transplants here via the Calgary-Houston oil and gas exchange and a ton of Northeast transplants here, and you have the 3rd most Fortune 500 companies of any city in the country. The demographics, the money, the population all make Houston an obvious choice. The only thing stopping this plainly obvious move is red tape around the arena's lease and the I believe the NHL is leery about sharing time and profit with the Rockets. https://www.houstonpress.com/news/four-reasons-the-nhl-in-houston-is-complicated-15717672#google_vignette https://www.chron.com/sports/article/tilman-fertitta-nhl-team-houston-19789684.php
