  1. Spotrac isn't up to date yet, but I think we get something like $5-10M back in cap space next year. I believe there is still some dead money, but ultimately we get some relief. I thought the Bills would have waited until after June 1. I remember that in that scenario the Bills would have gotten $19M in 2024 relief and $5M in 2025.
  2. I am not your buddy pal. It isn't a high horse. I merely pointed out that nearly an entire year went by where dozens of posters explained that Diggs contract is actually very movable if the Bills wanted to. Some posters just plugged their ears.
  3. Using round numbers it is $28M on the roster $31M off the roster. Effectively trading Diggs only costs us an additional $3M compared to keeping him.
  4. I don't think Spotrac is fully up to date yet some of the numbers still look wonky. Stef is listed as a Texan but on the Bills roster still and his dead cap number is blank, but they have some pre/post June 1 numbers that don't make a ton of sense. But effectively trading Stef will add an additional $3M to our cap number this year. I forget next years number, but I think this free's up between $5-10M. Because of the restructure Houston is basically only on the hook for Diggs base salary in terms of cap dollars. In general base salaries aren't guaranteed unless you are on the roster, so Houston should be able to move on fairly cheaply if they don't want to pay Diggs $18M anymore.
  5. Gregg over at Cover 1 must be in shambles. He parrotted all year that Diggs was a must or likely restructure this year.
  6. Sorry, that was sarcasm. Diggs was definitely always tradable. And not just tradable, advantageous for the receiving team. Diggs contract going forward for Houston is middle of the pack for WR1 across the league and there is next to zero cap implication for them to move on from him at any point because of the restructure. And the delta for the Bills is $3M this year. That is it. Now they have some more cap freedom going forward. Not to be a blowhard or specifically kick you in the shins, but this was explained over and over and over again by a lot of posters.
  7. Despite an entire year of saying "Diggs costs $3M more off the roster than he does on" it is hard to believe that there were still people going "tHirTy OnE MiLliOn DoLlArS". He was always tradable, the restructure put the cap risk on Buffalo. If Diggs is "meh" and not worth $18M AAV after this year (or any year) they can move on with basically zero cap implication.
  8. Guys, can't be real. His contract is not tradable. EDIT: Sarcasm.
  9. You sold 6/8 games and Terry didn’t come after you for a resellers license?
  10. Just to add on, I hope they go 9-8 with 6 of their wins against Cleveland, Baltimore, and Cincinnati.
  11. Pegulas leash with Buffalo fans is shortening. I’m on another hockey forum in addition to Sabrespace that’s generally pretty dry and straightforward hockey talk by comparison. It is becoming highly volatile and very anti-Pegula. He needs the Bills in the SB and he needs them there soon. Otherwise I think the city is ready to flip on him entirely.
  12. On the other hand you have: - The Bills trying to get over the hump. Roster getting younger. Possible coach on the hot seat. - Rodgers come back season at 40 and possible run for VP. - McDaniels is a bit of a media darling across the league. Then add in a possible Tua extension. Plus Poyer moves in the division. - Then the Patriots first season without Belichick for literally an entire generation of humanity. A lot of pretty quality storylines in the AFCE even if this doesn't turn out to be a super competitive year.
  13. A free market prohibits public subsidy because its influence no longer allows it to operate freely.
  14. Unsure if this is a joke or not. The Buffalo Bills are not playing in a free market economy. They took nearly a billion dollars in public subsidy. Christ.
  15. The cost of having kids now is astronomical. Even without kids I feel like me and the Mrs. can't go to the grocery store for any reason and not spend $100 even if it is just filling in some gaps in ingredients we already have. I think about being/having a teenager now and the cost of vehicles in a town like Buffalo. Say you have a fairly outgoing kid. Plays a couple of sports, maybe a club, and a part time job a few days per week. Gone are the days of getting a part time job, saving birthday money, mowing some lawns, etc. and saving for a jalopy to get yourself where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there. Are parents expected to drop $400-$600 per month (plus down payment) on a lease? $10-$15k on a "junker"? Or as money gets tighter and bosses start to clamp back down to "in person" for less money are parents supposed to leave work to take their kid everywhere?
  16. I don't know if you have been paying attention lately, but a lot of people are really struggling with the cost of living all over the country. Buffalo included.
  17. Curious if the Dolphins are expecting some sort of punishment for Tyreek? His kid burned down his house, he broke a women’s leg at a charity flag football event, and now has what feels like his 13th domestic abuse/disturbance.
  18. Piggy backing on the COO thread this is likely where the football side and business side part ways. You’d have to ask Terry.
  19. Im pro making the game safer. But I don’t get how this is even enforceable.
  20. I am not the greatest advanced metrics guy on the hockey side, but people smarter than me have used them to point out that UPL is carrying the load of this team by himself, the defense hasn’t been any better, and they’ve been attempting to go all in on offense like last year since December. Certainly take that with a grain of salt. But the eye test says the team this year has been consistently worse at just about everything other than one goaltender. Mitts commenting twice about how hard/fast Colorado practices, Maurice mentioning that they “do things differently” and can get some my physiology out of Okposo, with Tuch saying “if you watch the games we play hard” is a very bad and embarrassing look.
  21. I don't know why this is hard to believe. It was a huge story in the sports world. Outside of Buffalo and outside of the NHL. Look at the Sabres, Terry Pegula is literally the worst owner the NHL has ever seen. EVER! There is not another franchise under any ownership that has been as dismal as a Terry Pegula lead hockey team for the last 10 years+. Not one. Terry saved the Bills from Toronto. But he also ruined the Sabres and has had 2 high level hires walk out on him in very short order. I know Lafontaine and Marrone or ash holes. But there are only a couple dozen HC/POH roles in the world, you almost never hear of anybody quitting, let alone 2. If Pegula ever moves on from Brandon Bean in the post Josh Allen era he will ruin the Bills too. https://theathletic.com/1758235/2020/04/20/as-pegulas-face-business-challenges-employees-describe-a-toxic-culture-at-pse/
  22. What does this mean? They’ll make the playoffs, or miss a 5th year in a row? Also didn’t Adams already “extend their tenure” a season or two ago for no real reason? They shared a building with Labatt for a while, I’d start kicking around there if you’re curious. Have you read the Athletic article? Tim Graham quoted a few people, albeit anonymously. There is zero good context for that slide. It’s baffling.
  23. It was Kirby in the COO thread. I don’t think he didn’t say they were bad. I believe it was something along the lines of “not known for being well run on the business side”. I am paraphrasing.
  24. This is a good reminder that the Pegulas shared a slide to all PSE employees that read “family lifestyle and taxes” as their expectations for their investments.
