Micah Hyde's San Diego wife loves Buffalo
Mango replied to WhoTom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I lived in Boston for a while, and there’s 5 different events/activities/things going on for each of the 10 things you’re into every week. In Buffalo there are less options. Depth is a little lacking if you will. Ive lived a bunch of places. I love Buffalo, it’s always been home, and is now too. It definitely gets a bad rap, it’s not the worst place, it has a ton going for it, I dig it, but it’s also not the absolute best, like some homers like to say it is. -
Honest answer.... not yet, but right now I think they’re on the fence. If they blow net offseason and they’re terrible again next year, they probably become part of that conversation. Ive been highly critical of some of their moves, but also understand what they’re trying to do. For me they have the 2019 season. But the more they lose the deeper hole they are digging themselves.

It isn't a pie, right? So if they line is a huge problem, it doesn't make Allen less of one. Let's just remember that our QB was sacked on a handoff. Let the one sink in. The OL is a huge issue, so is QB play.

The cap situation McBeane inhereted
Mango replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So 3x more cap space than your original response (2mil) . Or just Star’s money? We wouldn’t have needed to replace DT immediately and could have used Stars money on another position of need. Dareus’ dead cap after his season drops to -

I just checked. He’s 13.5 mil in dead cap in Buffalo this year, and 10.1 mil in cap space in Jax. Star is 6.7 mil against the cap. Were spending 20 million in dead cap and a lesser replacement in Star, where we could have just kept Marcel at 10.1? Based on those number we could have Marcel and 10 mil more in cap space.... We would be better in defense and have more money to spend in that scenario.... -

I guess that’s the second point I’m trying to make. Based on the above numbers, if they’re correct. We wouldn’t need to spend 10 mil on Star. Wouldn’t need 4 mil on Davis. We’d have more money and less holes. More currency to spend on things like OL. -

I guess that’s the point (I didn’t hate the Sammy trade) but if we’re talking pure cap, Sammy’s 5th year option is a conversation on if it is the best way to spend available money, not just assume it’s continued. Take it off the board. So whats the cap situation this year with a few moves...or not making moves? Dareus without Star? Does that bring the cap number to 20? No Sammy? 33? Darby without Vontae? 35? Glenn is one I’m not sure on in 2018. If my numbers are close, were we in cap hell, or did we create it? I havent been able to dig up the “what if numbers”. Honest question because I’m curious. -

I am a little unclear on this. what was our cap situation in the offseason leading to 2018? Is it the 24 mil you cited? What would our cap situation be sans controllable factors/dead cap space this year if we hadn’t traded Dareus, Darby, or Watkins last year (not including the 5th year option)? What was our cap space thus year minus Murphy and Star? -
Yeah...I’m not. You do some stuff pretty average, maybe slightly above. Maybe you were MLB in the 1984 Monsignor Martin championship game? Woulda gone to state, and gotten big time scholarship if it weren’t for the ref blowing that call, and you twisting your ankle in the 3rd quarter. Elite talent, specifically in athletics, that you don’t get even a little bit. Mark it down.

Youre aware that the previous GM you hate so much wanted to draft Mahomes and Watson and move on from EJ. We currently pay Dimarco 2 mil per year to play 5 snaps in 2 games, Ducasse keeps starting, and Peterman has started 3 times now/still on the roster/we traded 2 vets who were ahead of him on the depth chart. Your reasoning isn’t linear, it’s baselessly preferential. This regime is officially hot garbage.

Did Vontae Davis retire at halftime? Yes, yes he did!

Stuff like this is how people lose their jobs. McCoach is probably not long for buffalo. -
Im actually the opposite currently. I see most of these roster moves as Beane’s doing. I have little trust currently in his talent evaluation (pro or college). I don’t think we were in cap hell, but we are now. I do thibk if youre a good coach, you’re a better team than the day you showed up. If you’re a good GM, you have more talent than the day you showed up. Currently we are neither, and that’s concerning. It’s risky to tear down, because if you can’t replace, you’ve decimated a roster/franchise for 3-5 years minimum. He’s gotta be the best GM in the NFL next year in FA and the draft for this to pan out, because we released most of our top talent. I agree. If Allen pans out, Beane is fine for a while. He’s directly tied to his success at this point.
