What I think people are missing in the “league wouldn’t be that stupid” crowd is that this was not a case of a clean league suddenly becoming crooked. You’ll understand how deep gambling and organized crime runs in the NFL from the absolute highest levels (commissioners and owners). These are not far fetched conspiracies but well documented. They are just “kept out of sight”. Most of your favorite players from the 70s and 80s have been involved in gambling/fixing scandals.

I think about this a lot. Why not fix it for the Bills today? What I’ve come to learn is that it’s not always obvious who they choose and why. I think there are a few different flavors of fixing. 1. A certain team MUST win. Think tuck rule. 2. They prefer a team to win but if the other team is too good, just let the blowout happen. Not worth the obvious phony calls. I think that was what happened today in the 1st half. 3. Affecting the gambling line. 4. They don’t care who wins, just keep it close and let the game come down to a late drive. This is most of them. Very common in the NBA too (extending series to 7 games).

Here’s the key on Mahomes vs Allen. Next time you watch a Chiefs game watch how all the pieces around Mahomes work in his favor. Things always go his way like a symphony. That’s why the drops during the Eagles game were such a Greek Tragedy in the media. These things tend to go his way. Allen on the other hand plays with the inertia of the universe pushing against him. Everything is overcoming the adversity with Allen. With Mahomes it’s playing conductor in an all world philharmonic. The truth is that Allen plays MLB baseball while swinging two bats. I’d argue he’s a lot better than Mahomes if both are placed in equal situations.

You lost me on Allen. It’s those around him that are the problem.
