  1. They had a chance with Ponder. No chance caught in Charlottes Webb.
  2. Nick Barnett is as relevant as disco music.
  3. Did Wannstedt get hired to run the Vikings D...gosh...what a horrible scheme against GB
  4. My picks. Texans Vikings (Rogers gets hurt in the game) Ravens Redskins
  5. I'd rather have McCoy over Big Love and The Whiz.
  6. I'm thinking EXACTLY the same way. I'd add to a lesser extent of the traits you mentioned above another candidate Mike McCoy. But I prefer Kelly or Bevell.
  7. Lovie is the most overrated candidate out there right now that the Chiefs unwisely signed Reid.
  8. If I was a chiefs fan I would be PISSED!
  9. He has had success at each level in the NFL Green Bay - Assistant Green Bay - Quarterbacks Coach Minnesota - Offensive Coordinator - Playoffs with two different QB's that have two different styles - Tavaris Jackson and Brett Favre Seahawks - Offensive coordinator - Success with Russell Wilson. A radical shift of offensive philosophy. A 3rd round pick turning into a star. Seahawks a playoff team. Bevell has all the tools. He can adapt to personnel, he can create all different types of schemes to that personnel from the opposite sides of the spectrum to boot. From Tavaris Jackson (who the Bills can't even activate), to Brett Favre and ONTO Russell Wilson. What he has done with QB's is most impressive. He's NOT a coach like Lovie Smith that is married to a single scheme. Of all the coaches he would be the guy I would want mentoring a young QB going forward. This is the most important task for the next coaching staff to undertake and get correct. This is a QB league. We need a progressive football mind that can adapt.
  10. No, "moneyball" in football would be delving into more advanced stats. Beyond that of sacks, QBRating (which is flawed to begin with), total passing/rushing yards etc....
  11. I'm also VERY SKEPTICAL of Polians scouting of player personnel in the modern NFL. He is even a dinosaur in his own game (scouting) these days. I doubt he has any knowledge about statistics and player evaluation.
  12. Flip flopping and stubborness give equally bad results. Think of Wannstedt and to a lesser extent Gailey on the opposite side of the spectrum.
  13. In terms of "smaller names" I have no real issues with Marrone and McCoy. I'm the only one that has ever mentioned Bevell. He will be a competent head coach in this league some day. NFL is behind the curve on him.
  14. Lovie Smith - Coach that is in love with a specific scheme (think of Wannstedt) because he has had success with it in the past. Concerns with his ability to adapt to personnel and scheme with his "area of expertise". On the offensive side with the scheme, personnel and hiring offensive assistant coaches. In game management I am not impressed with at all from watching Chicago games. In game management you mine as well have Jauron, Mularkey, Gailey etc. as the head coach. Ken Whisenhunt - Not impressed with his conservative in game management. Concerned about his ability to hire competent assistant coaches and groom a young quarterback. Apparently in Arizona he had issues with judging player personnel. Grimm - This won't happen. Ray Horton - I can't see this happening as well.
  15. Landing Chip Kelly would be a wet dream!
  16. The question for me is: What teams that I don't like, would never want to win the superbowl. Saints Patriots Jets Dolphins Cowboys Packers But...if I had to choose a team that I want to win it would be the Vikings this year.
  17. For NFL assistant/positonal coaches I like the idea of Mike McCoy and Darrell Bevell the most (Bevell is a guy that is totally underrated and deserves an interview). Cowher and Gruden are not gonna happen. I'm also concerned about Gruden and Cowher being analog players in the digital world and their ability to adapt. I want a guy that can adapt, not be stuck in a scheme. Aka Lovie Smith, Andy Reidd etc. Lovie and Reid are guys that would concern me A LOT IF they were hired. I want fresh way of thinking. McCoy and Bevell might be able to do this as well as a guy like Chip Kelly.
  18. Lovie Smith is in the lead.....EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
  19. These are two interesting candidates IMO. I think they are two offensive coordinators that have proven that they are progressive and able to adapt to multiple schemes to fit their personne and have excellent success. Also going forward the Bills main priority is to draft and groom a young quarterback. Brevell especially has shown he can do it. The only thing I am concerned about is their connections in the NFL and if they would be able to attract quality assistant coaches. In game management will always be wait and see.
  20. As fans, from the outside looking in, we have no way to evaluate or give an objective opinion on Whaley. There's just no way for fans to definitely determine if he would be a good GM or even one that is qualified or not. It's really the people in the front offices that would have any indication on the guy. He is a wildcard.
  21. Would you re-hire an employee that sued you? Also Wade is the classic example of the cliche, excellent co-oridnator, poor head coach. His in-game management is as atrocious as they come (time management, timeouts, conservative decisions). Also he is not a leader among men. That's one intangible quality we need in our next head coach.
  22. Lovie Smith and Andy Reid are AWFUL choices for the Bills going forward. However, Reid is even a worse choice considering the personal baggage he has around his family. Reid just needs to retire.
  23. Chip Kelly is one of the very few suggestions on this board today that I would consider investing the next 3-4 years in.
