Getting blown up by tight ends in the run game. Taking the wrong gaps, getting just eatin up in the gap, horrific in coverage. He has been a major dissapointment this year. I thought he had played very well last year but man he has been bad almost every game.

He tried maybe once or twice today and they looked liked severly wounded ducks. We all knew he suffers in this category but this is by far his worst year in passing down field. You can't have success in the NFL if you can't take advantage of stacked boxes and defenses taking advantage of short zone coverages. Even Trent Edwards was able to complete a long pass down the sideline once in a while and he was TERRIBLE!

Buffalo Is Going To Beat Houston

Utter incompetence on behalf of our beloved defensive guru Dave Wannsted. Dave Wannstedt has Gilmore playing 8 yards off the line of scrimmage against Johnson and stepping back at the snap of the ball. Wannstedt is just giving the game away. This is the NFL! You can't make it that easy for your opponnets. Wannstedt's scheme is a major part of the defensive woes on this team. Yes we have talent problems but Wannstedt has compounded these issues. He has to go. Worst defensive coordinator the Buffalo Bills ever had! Gailey didn't have his best game either. Why is he kicking field goals instead of going for it on 4th downs? With this defense and your opponnent, the only chance you have to win is to score touchdowns. Major mistep in this game. Another thing is CJ spiller has to get a minimum of 25 touches per game (running and receiving).

Newspaper article: Bocce's Pizza

Just thinking about looking at a Bocces cheese and pepp pizza is making me salivate. Thinking about the smell is making me more hungry. Bocces pizza has a wonderful ripe tomato aroma to it that is unlike any other pizza out there. Has wonderful flavor too. All you need to get from there is a cheese and pep or just a cheese pizza. -
Hire Eric Mangini now ...
BuffaloBillsForever replied to merlin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I said this exact thing after the Jets or Patriots game. Love this idea but this should have been done weeks ago. A little late now but if we somehow manage to beat the texans, this idea makes a lot of sense. It would be a waste to bring him in as a consultant if we have no shot at making the playoffs. If we lose this week, were done, seasons over! -
A Wanny blitz consitss of rushing a single linebacker or a safety. I think the only blitz we saw today was a couple LB blitzes. The majority of the time we are just rushing 4 defenders ALL GAME LONG. There is no complicated blitz schemes at all to confuse the defense. Wannstedt has implemented the most vanilla scheme with no adjustments that teams just dominate week after week.

This defense is totally inexecusable. Perhaps historically on the trend for the worst defense of all time. His scheme is partially part of the problem. On the last touchdown you have to bring pressure. This is the most uninspiring defensive scheme I have ever witnessed. A guy like Mangini, even though historically is a 3-4 guy I believe can tighten this defense in a couple of weeks. Hire Mangini. He can fix scheme problems.

My real problem is not the playcall itself to throw out of the wildcat but more of the fact there was no attempt at misdirection. Wildcat relies heavily on misdirection and creating mismatches. I'd rather see some motion with spiller/fred, playaction or Brad Smith rolling out on the play with the option of passing. Having smith roll out has some benefits such as being able to throw the ball away or run if nothing is available. More chances at someone blowing assignment as well. You are not going to fool anyone with Smith taking the snap out of shotgun and immediately throwing deep. This can be an effective play but just the wrong wildcat package to throw out of.
