You rarely see a pass over 15 yards....I agree we match up really bad against their secondary. -
The most worrying thing I saw today....

The answer to that is easy. The offense has been figured out - Gailey's spread offense. He ran the exact same offense as last year today (I didn't see anything new). It was something fresh at the beginning of last year. Teams know how to gameplan against this offense very easily now. Put pressure on Fitz and sit in the short zones because they can't beat you intermediately or down field and along in the sidelines. Neither the QB or WR's are capable downfield. The Cromartie pick 6 is a prime example of this. It's from watching film and knowing the offensive tendancies. A burner on that play would be a double move....but this offense doesn't attack down field...Rex Ryan knows this.. -

Exactly. Fitz mechanics were a mess today, his footwork is a huge problem which leads to poor accuracy and velocity. The first interception he threw to Revis is a great example of him taking too long to make a throw. The play was there...but a late delivery on his part... -

Yup. It all stops and starts with the QB. -

Nonsense. Watch the film on those interceptions...they were fitz fault...there were completions to be made on 2 of the 3. The pick 6 is just Fitz blowing reading the coverage. The Bills did nothing they normall don't do offensively and with the same personnel. Perhaps the scheme is the problem and teams have figured it out...sort of like Cromatie sitting in the short zone. Fitz thought Cromartie was playing man with a saftey overtop. But what happened was Cromartie was actually playing the short zone and the saftey playing man or zone overtop. Makes sense since the Bills down't throw deep passes even intermediate ones for that matter. Great gameplanning on the Jets part. Fitz threw it right into that zone. If it was a long pass play, it would be one on one coverage against the saftey...but Nelson wouldn't be doing that anyway. -

Which interception are you referring to - the short crossing route or the pick 6 with Cromartie? There is the Revis pick with Johnson..I forget is there another one? There were so many and all happened fairly quickly. -
BIgger Disappointment: Defense or Fitz
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz struggling and turning the ball over is not a big surprise. He did lead the league in interceptions last year. The defense however...from the lack of pressure, horrible defense scheme on part of the coordinator...yeah I'm dissapointed. -

The turnovers were bad decisions on the quarterback. In each case there was no fault on the WR's. It was either a late throw, innacurate throw or a quarterback that threw a pass thinking it was man but was zone and cutoff the WR underneath. Don't take it the wrong way...the offense needs a lot of polish. But mainly the offense won't improve unless you improve the QB. Our problems or success starts with the QB. -

I agree but the turnovers is what killed us today, mainly the interceptions and they were all on Fitz. Johnson was open on the out route to the sideline on the first interception but Fitz threw it WAY TO LATE. That ball needs to be thrown when he breaks or not at all espeically if Revis is on him. There was another one in the flat on a crossing route and it was either the TE or WR and Fitz threw it behind him into the CB. There was another one for pick 6 to Nelson that was just a total collapse on Fitz part in reading the coverage - CB who ended up playing the short zone (Fitz thought he was man). What killed us the most was turnovers and for the most part Fitz fault. I did think Chandler however was a bright spot. I like him being flanked out as a WR (sort of what the Pats do). -
Is Plaxico Burress available? One thing we do need to do if Nelson is done for the year is sign a WR. I think a VET signining signing is the way to go rather than activate some WR fodder. Though NOT a vet guy like Owens or Johnson. What are your thoughts? One thing we DO NEED is sign someone. So what are some viable options?

Dave Wannstedt 2012-2013 Thread
BuffaloBillsForever replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Basically what you did was take something out of context, wannsteedt and the fact he was hired because of experience and took that and made a rediculous extreme general statement on it as your point of contention. Remember the "general stance" I took was USUALLY AND NOT THE ONLY REASON (what YOU made up) . Do you see what you did there? This is the kind of tricky stuff the media does. Taking stuff out of context and twisting things. Is this too hard for you to understand? -

During the game I thought the same thing. I said to myself "this might be even worse than the worst we saw with a George Edwards coached defense". Re-read my statement. Wansteedt WAS hired because of his past experience as a defensive coordinator. This is just fact and irefutable. And don't confuse the word USUALLY with THE ONLY REASON (which are the words you made up). Basic english class tells us they have two different meanings. Re-read this carefully below! Gailey said flat out it was George Edwards scheme, Wansteedt being involved with the LB's. Whether you believe him or not, I don't really care. Wannstedt was promoted simply because of his past experience (this is a factual statement). Usually the reason why people get jobs or even promotions. Now where did I say the only reason. Stop twisting things to the extreme and putting words in my mouth. -

No. You treat it an absolute. My statement is not interpreted as such an extreme which you interpret it to be. . -
Gailey has a putrid overall win/loss record, went "all in" in his defence of Ryan Fitzpatrick which might have caused us not take chances in the draft on a QB. Our defence with him as headcoach has been at an all-time low. Today, the team didn't look prepared. At the very least he might not get a contract extension. I can't see him extending him if we have another losing record.

I think Gailey hinted at that last year. So I think that is correct. -

A lot of Edwards problems was personnel. Wannstedt has MUCH BETTER personnel this year which should cut down on mismatches. A saftey playing one on one against a teams #1 WR SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. Some of the mismatches we saw today were inexusable. Wannstedt performance today was as bad as it gets. -

I can't understand under any circumstance how Byrd is lined up against Holmes on 3rd down or leaving McKelvin on an island with nobody overtop.
