ques CHAN able play calls
BuffaloBillsForever replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only bad playcall I seen from Gailey today was the reverse to Dickerson on the 2 yardline. There is nothing wrong with using the wildcat on the 20 yard line. -
Kyle Williams was AMAZING today!

Not really, 2nd string vs 1st string in a blow out.... -
Mr $100 million was much better today

Yes, Mario Williams had a good game, exactly what this teams needs. The D-Line as a whole played VERY WELL! -

They had replacments in a lot of the positions in the 4th quarter especially on the D-line. 4th quarter doesn't mean ANYTHING. -

I can't argue that point. I'd put him in the best DT tackles in the game. -
Kyle Williams literally pushed an offensive lineman 3-5 yards on initial contact right into the running back for a loss early in the game. One of the most dominating plays I have ever seen. He dominted the interior all game. Amazing performance, its up there with the Pittsburg game, perhaps even better.

Against a good team, close game, that would be the difference maker. -

Yeah. I would take the Dolphins winning and the Pats losing any week. The Jets game isn't a gimmee either. I could see the Steelers taking that one. -

...If you have an elite safety like Troy Polomalu and you have a defensive scheme that uses complex blitzes. It's an exception to the rule, with the right personnel. Unfortunately we don't have that personnel. For Byrd to be man to man on 3rd and 3 and playing off 10 yards is a mismatch plain and simple. It's the job of the D-Coordinator to call the right plays to minimize mismatches and put his players in the best position for success. That's not it. -

For one NOT lining up a safety (Byrd) 8-10 yards off the #1 WR (Holmes) of the opposing team on 3rd and short. -
Where was Brad Smith Week #1?
BuffaloBillsForever replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Chandler played very well. He might end up being Fitzpatricks most useful target this year. -
I had The Howard and Simon show in the background while making breakfast and they were talking about Mario Williams complaining to the media after the game. It was somwhere around 9:30 in the show. I thought I heard one of the radio hosts say something like (not quoted word for word) "I went to Two Bills Drive and saw two pitcures regarding the Mario Williams hands to the face." Was I just imagining that?

Was he injured? I don't recall ever seeing him on the field?

I didn't have a problem with the replacements. Yes, mistakes are made but mistakes are also made on a weekly basis by the regular refs as well. The calls we seen are no more agregious than what we see from our "regular" refeeres. I believe they will only get better as time goes on. I wonder how this effects their bargaining power in negotiations? The NFL lives and dies with its players, not refeeres. The quality of the game is the same.

No! Cromartie was playing the short zone. Basically that zone Cromartie was present in is exactly where Nelson route was. Cromartie can commit and be aggresive because Nelson is present in that zone coverage he is occupying AND HAS SAFETY HELP behind him. If Fitz can read that as zone he doesn't throw the ball that way! The reason why he can undercut that route. Based on the Jets defense that play, say Nelson would do a double move or runs an intermediate/deep pattern, coverage is then passed off to the safety who was present on that play. The coverage than would be one on one, Nelson Vs the Safety.

Here are some gems of that article "It was big for us. Our coverage that we played, I was the squatting corner," Cromartie said of the play. "The guy [bills receiver David Nelson] released outside, then I knew what kind of route we were going to end up getting. It just played into our hands well. It was a great call by coach [Rex] Ryan and coach [Mike] Pettine." "Some of the things they ran, they kept it true. When you're studying film and everyone gets a beat on it, and you know the things that you need each other need to do, it makes things a lot easier," Cromartie said." http://www.buffalone...two-bills-drive

Bills gave the Jets 31 points
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitzpatrick is also partially to blame for the CJ fumble. It put him in a vulnerable position with a underthrown ball. CJ was wide open and if Fitzpatrick would have led the ball to him in stride it would have been an easy touchdown with Spillers breakaway speed on the outside. -
[closed]How many blitz packages did we run?
BuffaloBillsForever replied to jnr472003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We ran some blitzes yesterday but to no avail. We even sent a safety on one blitz. I even recall on a 3rd and 3 Jarius Byrd lined up in one on one coverage against Santonio Holmes playing off about 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. So there must have been a blitz on that play but just an awful playcall on Wannstedt's part and a total mismatch. Coverage schemes was a huge issue as well not just the pass rush. -
I'm sure his segment will be in the audiovault soon. For people who are interested he was asked directly about the interceptions and he said the first one was late which Revis picked off. The second was a bad pass, "I didn't step into the throw". The third he just explained it and I quote "it was just a bad decision on my part" (the pick 6).

When a wrong route is ran by a WR the ball will be nowhere close to the WR (or they will be crossed up). In this case the ball was thrown right to nelson. Nelson ran underneath and Fitz threw it right there. The problem was Cromartie disguised man (where he would play behind) but it was zone (he can undercut the route where he is responsible in zone). There is also safety help. Cromartie broke before the ball was even the air. Fitz was confused by the route/coverage of Cromartie. That interception is just due to good gameplaning on the Jets part and the Bills being very predictable in their passing shcemes in the spread offense.
-
Gailey wasn't specific on that one interception. He said "he" took the wrong route. Thought he was going out but went in (thats what Cromatie did). But the WR went underneath and Fits threw it in that spot exactly where he was (Fits just has to recognize this and not throw the ball there). I'm pretty sure he was referring to the CB. It was a misread on Fitz. The other two he referred to as late and the other behind the WR.
