Report: Mario Could Be Gone- NFL.com
Wayne Cubed replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea pouting to the media, which he's done a couples times this season, isn't a good look. -
Of course it will depend on the decisions made by this guy. But what makes this guy qualified? Are we talking dinosaurs like Casserly or Polian? I don't mind the idea of consultants. The Pegulas should have used ta consultant in the coach hiring process instead they went with their gut. I just think if you are going to hire a Czar he might as well be your GM, if he knows so much about football.
-
I think a Czar and GM is too many cooks. And what "Czar" is out there that has a proven track record of turning around NFL Franchises? What talented GM is out there that wants to play second fiddle to a Football Czar? Surely a good GM wouldn't want to have to answer to some other football guy and have him second guessing his decisions.
-
Ugh. I honestly don't know if I like the idea of a #Czar but I understand that things need changing. And I don't really understand what the difference is between a Czar and a GM. What GM would want to be second guessed by a Czar? Just hire a new GM if you aren't happy otherwise it's just going to lead to confusion. Something needs to be done and the Pegulas don't know/understand how the NFL works. Unfortunately this isn't as easy as just tanking and grabbing Eichel/Reinhart/et al. The NFL is about identifying talent. The top players in the NFL draft aren't always the best players as it is in the NHL.

Mmmmm Yorkshire Puddings. Those can be pretty tough to get right. My mother-in-law makes the best ones, she's English though and doesn't measure, just knows when it's right. Biggest thing I've taken away is after you've mixed the ingredients, the batter needs to sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

So those games where Shady was out and the run game didn't exist? I mean Karlos Williams 18 rushes for 40 yards sure was good against the Giants. Or was it Boom Herron and company against the Titans that really drove home your point. Good post. Give yourself another pat on the back.

Ugh. So they just said in the Seahawks/Browns game the the Seattle defense hasn't allowed a TD in the last 21 drives. Why couldn't the Bills defense be THAT defense. -

Apparently you are hell bent on driving home the Sacks statistics and didn't actually read what I wrote. Let me ask you this, who was the #1 "total defense" last year and where did they rank in Sacks? Oh, it was Seattle and they ranked 20th in Sacks. If you read what I wrote to you, looking at Sacks isn't an end all be all to determining how good or bad a defense is. Is this years defense as good as last years? No. I said that. Is this years defense as bad as you keep stating with the "total defense" stat? IMO, no they aren't. I'll say it again, total defense is just total yards given up. That, IMO, isn't a very good indicator of how good or bad a defense is. If Team A has a bad offense and therefore sees more plays or drives against than Team B whose offense can sustain longer drives and their defense doesn't see as many drives against, can you honestly just look at Total Yards Against(Total Defense) and determine who the better defense is? It's a little more complicated than that. According to Total Defense, Dallas is ranked 9th. Do you really think Dallas is the 9th ranked defense? Advanced statistics say they give up a higher percentage of scoring drives than the Bills do. They also have less yards total because they've had 40 less plays and 20 less drives against than the Bills defense. That's almost a whole games worth of plays/drives! Their average drive yardage is 2 yards more than the Bills defense. If you add 20 more drives with their average yards per drive to equal what the Bills defense has seen, their "Total Defense" would be 24th in the league. Like I said, this years defense, IMO, is somewhere between 11-15. Not as good as last years and definitely disappointing in terms of expectations. -
Official 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' thread

Really enjoyed it. I thought Abrams did an excellent job and got back to what Star Wars was about with very good acting and character development. -

No offense but I hate "total defense" stats. It's based on yards given up. I prefer more advanced statistics like, points per drive or percentage of drives ending in a score or average yards per drive. Some teams face more drives than others therefore they will give up more yards over the course of a season. Points per game is fine as long as its defensive points only. As it stands right now the Bills have faced the 8th most drives against with 160 drives against. That's only 6 drives off the team that's faced the most drives. So, the Bills defense has been on the field quite a bit this year. Saying that, Points Per Drive the Bills are ranked 13th, Percentage of Drives Ending in Score they are 12th and Average Yards Per Drive they are 11th. I think this years defense is somewhere in that 11 - 13 range in terms of rankings. Last years team was in that 1 - 5 ranking. -

This. And I'll say it again, everyone points to the Denver game as some amazing game that the Bills defense "shut down" Peyton Manning. Peyton may have not had a great game, but the rest of the Denver offense was just fine. The Bills defense forced a 3 and out on their first possession, then let them score on their next drive. Two drives later they scored again and they were driving before the half but the TE fumbled on the 10 yard line. Thats ok because Denver got the ball at the half and drove down the field on their first possession to score a TD. 21-3 at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Never mind that even if they did shut down Peyton, they still didn't win the game. Look at where the majority of the sacks came from. NYJ(x2) and Miami(x2) accounted for 20 sacks alone. When they needed to beat teams, like Oakland or Denver or San Diego or even Miami the 2nd time, they came up short. Last years defense was good at times but had it's bad moments as well and seemed to come up short when the Bills really needed them. -
The MMQB: Is Tyrod Taylor "The Guy"?
Wayne Cubed replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And money talks. If Tyrod has an outstanding 2016 and gets even better there is no way the Bills don't throw a massive contract his way. He would be the guy they've been looking for. They wouldn't let him slip away. As previously stated, then you franchise Tyrod for 2017. As ScottLaw said, I think you are reaching. How often does a young "franchise QB" hit the open market? When's the last time thats happened? -

Has he though? Fitzpatrick had started 32 games for the Bills and had started 12 games for the Bengals at the point he signed the deal. That's 44 games started. I think the Bills had a somewhat better idea of what they were getting with Fitz than they do now with Taylor. And even then, they got it wrong. It would have been like if the Bills signed Fitz in 2010 instead of 2011.
