  1. I think you misunderstand what I'm saying in response to you meeting a lot of Libertarians in a Liberal city. Libertarians and Liberals both dislike regulation on one's personal matters, so they share that social view. Young people are increasingly cynical of our government/current representation, which would naturally push them towards small government ideals. Combine liberal social views + government cynicism, you get libertarianism. Your experiences make sense. I agree, and I think the minimum should be set in each county, vs an unrealistically high federal wage. As far as LA, I don't know what it takes out there to provide for yourself. But as I've said in another thread, I do believe places where the cost of living is high, the minimum wage should be higher. $10/hr in LA or NYC gets a lot less than $10/hr in Alabama. And yes, I know the response is "Well, just move" (which I agree to disagree on)... but I just wanted to clarify that I don't think some lofty amount should be the minimum wage universally. As far as healthcare goes, I support a single payer option for all legal residents.
  2. I think many Liberals and Libertarians share similar social views, so that's not too surprising. Combine that with cynicism towards government, due to lobbying and general ineptitude, and Libertarianism looks even better.
  3. I don't think affordable education, healthcare, and a living wage are considered handouts, personally. But I understand your point of view.
  4. Yeah, religion and it's relation to laws will always be a big dividing point.
  5. Basically. I'm not saying they should, to be clear. Different generations want different things, and in general people become more conservative as they get older (they already "have theirs", and they "set in their ways"). Today's fringe liberal youth might be tomorrow's moderate conservatives. The GOP could drop a handful of things and look a lot better to the younger demographic... easy ones would be gay marriage, abortion, and marijuana.
  6. Things Conservatives can do to attract young voters: - support gay marriage - support pro life/women's rights - support social programs that'd bring low/middle class earners comprehensive health coverage - support decreasing spending on defense - support overturning citizen's united (removing lobbying/big money from politics in general) - support post secondary education cost reform - support minimum wage adjustments to living wage - support marijuana legalization Basically younger generations are frustrated with education and health care costs, regulations of private lives, the focus on war, and the lack of representation in government.
  7. And just tell the ref who is ineligible last second every play. That's legal, right?
  8. It occurs to me, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a fake PAT... was that against the rules?
  9. He's talented, so I don't hate the trade... but he's definitely looking like the odd man out, unless he comes back and wows. Hopefully his family situation resolves itself and isn't too serious. For all we know his mom is dying, so I'll reserve judgement.
  10. Well that doesn't look great.
  11. I'd call them thugs, but they aren't black.
  12. I really hope this kid was just a wrong place wrong time guy, and develops for us... he definitely has the physical makeup to be a perfect 2 to McCoy's 1 for a 1-2 punch. Edited: Stupid quotes.
  13. Well he's obviously lying, because Leroi said...
  14. When does training camp start? This is killing me. (Edit: Why did the "important offseason/preseason dates" thread disappear?)
  15. Jesus. Yeah, the media is jumping all over EJ/the Bills right now.
  16. I don't know if I'll care, due to the three month long bender.
  17. I'd say roughly like he has with the Dolphins so far. Solid and safe, not a huge playmaker, but doesn't actively hurt a team. That's generally what I think of him so far, he's a solid middle of the pack guy. If he's surrounded by talent, he'll be successful, if he's not, he won't be.
  18. I predict EJ/Cassel will have similar stats/success as Tannehill this year, just because we've improved the team around EJ/Cassel, and we improved our OC in a big way.
  19. WHAT?! I'M SO !@#$ING DONE WITH THIS TEAM
  20. It's a big number, but unsurprising... QBs get a lot, even the middle of the pack guys.
  21. I hate the offseason.
