Whaley almost certainly could have killed the EJ pick if he threw a big enough fit. Who the hell lets a guy that has announced his retirement already make the picks in a draft and select a QB #1 overall? With that said, the narrative is that the last draft was Buddy Nix. At least half of that is probably true. I haven't seen Whaley draft any QBs so...I'm not really sure it was his pick to take EJ in the 1st (and 1st overall QB taken). A lot of Bills fans and media often talk about how the team finally has talent and/or is more talented than it has been in a long time and I agree. I'm not willing to throw him away just yet....but the Rex Ryan match wasn't good for him and I knew that at the time. If he got with a good, offensive minded HC, one that also has experience, I think it would click and they've already got a decent core to build off of. We're still 1 more good WR and 1 more QB away from being damn talented when we're healthy. But yes, WR depth is terrible.

Watkins Ruled Out For Sunday (Update - placed on IR)
dayman replied to BreezeMafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey guys, guess what? WE WON THE OFFSEASON! Great move going so defensive heavy (with guys that also aren't playing lol). I like a lot of what Whaley has done and usually defend him but it's a tough pill to swallow this time. We have freaking nothing left. -
LOL what is this topic? You have to actually tie before tie breakers come into play. A win is important to getting the tie brotha...

In all fairness, if you watched the game, Carson Palmer played terrible today. We had good pressure and played well with the ball in the air (thank God), but Palmer was terrible.

If TT was doing anything week 1 we would be talking about a decent start the season minus 1 freak meltdown against the Jets in the secondary. With that said...we look like we are not so good. Even after today nobody should be sold on anything. Today probably wasn't the day to see it w/ all the injuries...but we need to show the passing game can carry us when we need it.

Nothing on offense looks good but the defense is playing well. -

Is Chad Kelly not Jim Kelly incarnate?
dayman replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's got a lot of positives that we all know about, but does seem to have a few red flags. Maturity problems, work ethic, on-the-field discipline. I would pass on Chad. -

Once the season is officially a disaster we could put Cardale in there. We're not there yet (although we're full speed ahead in that direction).

If BB is the Emperor then obviously we must hire McDaniels. -

You are watching the Pats want to run the ball up the middle, unable to do so, but still able to function, with a terrible QB. This is basically magic. Great coaching. Obviously a huge part of it is the Texans--and Brock in particular--sucking tonight. -

LOL Cower saying unleash Brissett? Terrible advice. -

Why would they trust Brissett? They were smart. They had a few nice plays here and there abut ultimately they had only 1 nice drive that resulted in a FG. Then they had Brissett make one nice TD run right after a fumbled KO return (where the defense was blown and the ocean parted). Pats will grind out a win here b/c they're smart. Texans are imploding. It would be a different game if the Texans offense wasn't already submitted by the Pats D. -

Our next 2 games are against, IMO, the clear cut best 2 teams in the league. -

Well then, at worst, Bill understand the how to win the NFL in 2016 and, therefore, can identify and hire coaches who do also...and also can make sure the Pats don't build a team that isn't suitable for winning. In some ways, he's getting the most value out of his roster of 10 years than any coach ever has. -

Pats bullet points: -Bill is a fantastic defensive coach -They got Brady -They invest heavily in offense, and Brady support staff (both football players and coaches) -Bill makes lemonade out of the defense when he has too, b/c he can and he supports the offense like a rational coach -When Brady is out or things are bad, they still have the stable infrastructure of a modern offensive scheme, talented guys familiar with it, and an adjustable defense with a good coach All of this allows them to game plan to win each week. If they game plan correctly and play well they have a chance every week, no matter what. We suck. -

We should hire McDaniels, keep Whaley, and see what happens. Don't let McDaniels draft QBs would be the only condition, and generally let Whaley keep doing what he's doing. McDaniels can spot a few FAs. -
Are the Pegula's meddling owners?
dayman replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted yes, as any good owners should be when they have a losing team. Once you have a Brady/Belichick combo in place you can fade into the background, but right now they have idiots running things and should get all up in there so they're ready to make a better hire this offseason. -

I agree, the Patriots are hated twice over (at lease twice over). But I always kind of like rooting for teams when they run out of QBs. Hope they lose but I'll laugh with glee if their QB makes good plays. -
Favorite non-Bill NFL players to watch
dayman replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guys I like to see play: Steve Smith JJ Watt Allen Robinson Gronk Fitzpatrick Antonio Brown Almost all rookie and/or unknown thrust into spotlight (curiosity factor) I would happily give up a 3 right now for Enunwa. If I could have him in practice with the Bills Monday, I would pay a 3. -
