They are expected to receive a 3rd round compensatory pick for Alex Mack last year. You never can confirm ahead of time, but those that know the most about how it works say that'll be a 3rd rounder. Either way the Browns will likely have the first pick and comp picks are at the end of the round so we're talking an handful of picks apart either way (very end of 3rd vs. very start of 4h...we're talking 3 or 4 picks apart at most and possibly 1 pick apart). Last year's first comp pick in the 3rd was (surpise!) the Pats at 97. 98 and 99 were also comp picks and pick 1 in the 4th was pick 100. Either way it was a terrible trade for the Pats. Now you hear talk that he's somehow freelancing and destroying the defense...didn't hear that much of that before the trade. They're making a superbowl run this year and look like the favorites...this doesn't make sense....they would have gotten the 3rd round comp pick one year later (2018) anyway. Maybe they just see the next 3 years as the window and justify it that way....IDK Odds are the Pats will be worse this year and notice if any injuries happen and the Browns will overpay on an extension and be limited in some way as a result (Browns may even fail to sign him lol). The main thing for the Browns is that if they fail to sign him they still get the comp pick next year. So in that sense it's not terrible...IF he's good and is serious about potentially extending.

Karlos needs to drop a few lbs and come back home. It's that simple.

And in my mind Alex Smith is the best point made yet. Alex Smith IS the litmus test. If you are better, you are good. If you are worse, you are not good. At this point, Tyrod is slightly behind Alex Smith (maybe full notch maybe not...depends on who you ask). End of discussion. He has until the end of the season to prove he could be better than Smith. He has until the end of next season to actually be better.

"Second year starter." Nobody evaluates Tyrod like that. This is his 6th year in the NFL. Game time is very important, and nobody evaluates him like 6 year vet...but lets be realistic about what the way he's being measured. He has this year and probably next...do or die. He hasn't done enough yet...will he? IDK...but it doesn't look like it.

How come Whaley upgraded the WR position last year?
dayman replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Life in the NFL. IMO we've gotten more talented each season Whaley has been in charge. I'm fine with what he's done so far...need to keep working though and my GOD do we need Tyrod (or someone else) to take it to the next level at QB. -
How come Whaley upgraded the WR position last year?
dayman replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whaley can't go all-out at WR every year. He had to give Rex an offseason on D (Rex's credibility depended on making some long-term investments in D) and had limited money/FA ability this year. You can knock the Rex hire but not last year's off season. We need a complete and total focus on passing game this offseason. Aaron Williams' neck must heal...and the defense must hold. We probably have to eat one big draft pick and/or FA signing on a CB...but that's life. We need 2 serious WR targets (and maybe a QB who knows we'll see). -
Biggest Surprise and Biggest Disappointment
dayman replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Defense: Surprise: Alexander obviously there, Z. Brown a second. Disappointment: Gilmore is first b/c he's Gilmore, Darby 2nd b/c somehow he has the worst PFF score of all?...which I didn't realize until just now. (note: Dareus is actually #1 but since he's inactive all year I consider him ineligible). Offense: Surprise: Shady. He's Shady, but I didn't quite expect this. Hopefully this hamstring goes away quick...b/c I did expect that. I'll give second place to Felton. We cut his ass, and even draft Gronk's brother in the summer before we did that! He's proven his worth...everyone raves about him. Disappointment: Tyrod. I'm sorry I don't think he sucks but I just wanted more, and the Bills need more, and there is no more. I'll give second place to Clay and that requires no explanation although it may have a lot to do with Tyrod but hard to portion out the blame. (note: I'm not knocking Sammy for the injury, it's obviously the most disappointing thing on offense but similar to Dareus he's ineligible for purposes of this list). -
At least we don't have to listen to Fitz
dayman replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He will definitely keep going. Can you name a single backup better than Fitz? I can name several starters that are worse...I would say that Tyrod is a roughly tied with him (since he won't take off and run more). It's been a bit of a garbage fire this year, I understand that very well. But lets not get insane about it...they benched him for GENO SMITH. He has every right to go out there and say that the coaches and executives are blame-shifting cowards...they are. -
At least we don't have to listen to Fitz
dayman replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Criticizing Fitz for being arrogant? Guys, we want an arrogant QB. Deserved arrogance or not. The day you have a starting QB that gets benched and isn't pissed is the day you cut him instead of bench him. Fitz is not that good, but he's better than Tyrod. I would take him back. Say what you will, he'll chuck it. If he had just one notch better in the arm category he would be legit (he doesn't and never will be), but he's still in the serviceable category (Tyrod is too). I would put Fitz slightly ahead of Tyrod in that mid-tier category...INTs and all. PS: Also, remember, they benched his ass for Geno. That was a pure coward move by the coaches. Had nothing to do with legit decision-making, they were just covering their own asses and shifting blame. Geno should be happy to collect checks as a backup...he's a 2 or so years from being out of the league. Fitz has at least made a legit career out of the NFL..more than Geno will ever be able to say. -
Lets just go ahead and quantify this. Of course, every team wants a Brady. And, of course, there is only 1 Brady (and very few Brady knockoffs). With that said, what kind of attainable QB do we need? We need a Matt Stafford-like QB. Now, don't get me wrong, Stafford is not great b/c he takes sacks, throws picks, and way too often he just kind of goes out there and sucks--for most of the game. BUT...when they need him to sling it...particularly at the end of a game, he has a serious habit of delivering. He's like a poor man's Favre. And that is enough to make him good (not average). My point? We should have a poor man's Favre, not a poor man's Russel Wilson. We can control (more or less) the game w/ D and running...compensate for QB mistakes with roster and playcalling. When it comes to QB...we should not be enamored with conservatism and limiting turnovers. Turnovers happen. So be it. Give me someone with some fire. I'm not anti-Tyrod...but the dude is just too "under control." Show me some fire, show me some risk taking when the game demands it, show me some urgency. Anyway, rambling post...but you get the point. We need something different at QB and Tyrod has not shown signs of the kind of fight we need to call upon from time to time. When it comes time to look around...lets roll the dice on a guy with an arm that can boom or bust any given Sunday...I'll lose that way much more easily than I will the way we lose with Tyrod (helplessly when things don't go according to plan). PS: Yes, I realize our weapons are depleted.

Tyrod is a bottom tier starter, good backup. Everyone knows this.

It's only game 7...and our playmakers are all gone...

4 of our starting WR's and starting RB injured
dayman replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Staring last year we had: Sammy Watkins all-world superman Percy Harvin rehabbed superstar Robert Woods finally going to come in his own Charles Clay top 5ish TE in the league Shady McCoy crazy good back Just saying, nobody was saying Whaley ignored offense starting last year. Just so happens that today to we had: Charles Clay the invisible man (as is usual) Goodwin for 1 big play before leaving ...other dudes -
I don't rag that much on Dareus b/c: 1) the suspension is over; and 2) We could really use him...when he's out there he CAN win you a game like today where you would otherwise lose. With that said, other posters that blame him are not out of line. If he's out there, you expect he can help us avoid getting run on all day.
-
Agreed. We suck. We beat a some bad and/or injured teams when they were down and everything was going right for us. That's it. We're a 7 win team max...

Being a CB sucks. Worst job in football. Mad respect for those CBs out there battling every play.

Shady injures hamstring in practice
dayman replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shady kind of shakes his right hand a bit, rolls his neck, and he's lose. Go time. -
Packers are disgusting.
-
America is sitting around waiting on the Packers offense to finish so they can see the Bears offense take the field. Hilarious.
-
Passive meaning consistently too willing to game manage. He should be attacking every drive. You watch Packers games, and he ebs and flows from attack mode. Brady is always attacking, always applying pressure.
-
Hoyer with a Brady-like 3 and 10 seam pass for 25. Very nice. Honestly, he's kind of a weird QB. I'm not going to say he isn't damn good, his ball-flight is considered to be second only to prime-Marino...but he's weird. He's more passive than someone as talented as he is should be, he's inconsistent as a result, and (IMO) he's too young to not take advantage of his legs downfield more often.

The Bills have the largest point differential of any team.
dayman replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Close it down boys. Search "differential." Pretty universal word to discuss the topic, IMO. -
Robert Woods Has a Boot on His Foot; Out for Miami
dayman replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jesus, another "painful foot" issue? WTF Rex needs to tell this little ladies to suck it up. "Look, don't worry, you'll feel better when it stops hurting, now go make the playoffs."
