Russ Brandon named President/CEO
RealityCheck replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a marketing campaign to trick a quality coaching staff to come here. Ralph's meddling history looms large in league circles. Whether this is just a clever ruse or not, it is what they are selling. Who can argue against that strategy? -

Amen brother! -
Fitz had his opportunity and despite the Harvard education continued to throw into the teeth of coverages late in games completely ignoring the open guys underneath. Aaron Rogers and Tom Brady dump off underneath out of the spread on 3 and short all the time and for the easy conversions, but no, Fitz ALWAYS has to force it to the guy doubled up down field. Maybe I would like him more if he wasn't so smart. He needs to go ASAP.

The usual suspects are always at the epicenter of the Bills personnel woes. If they chose another bogus GM/HC combination I am going to take a recess from contributing even one red cent to the NFL in any way shape or form for a while. It seems that when I wear these autographed Roddy Piper shades and look at Russ Brandon I see a money sucking leach. -

Slowly but surely I sense another 3 years of 16 and 32 football. I hope I am wrong. -
Brandon Meets w/Ralph, No Nix Announcement Until 1/1/13

Nix is responsible for this roster. It's not a good roster. With Gailey gone I view it as exhibit A as to why Nix should go too. -
NFL Black Monday for coaches and GMs

Marty would turn the offense into a physical run first/PA style monster with CJ in there. The defense? -
As much as people would like to rationalize their misplaced faith in Fitz and blame his play and Trent's on taking big hits, it just isn't true. Fitz is historically bad against the blitz and tight man coverage while being above average against soft zones and no blitzers. Trent was actually money against the blitz and man coverage while mysteriously being frozen by defenses that would just drop 8 into coverage with him checking down or getting a "coverage" sack because of indecisiveness. 2 completely different QBs that can only handle one half of an NFL defense's playbook while being predictably dismal at the other half. I will never ever forget being at the Browns game years age and watching the Browns just drop 8 every time and Trent just sitting there in the pocket looking lost while a younger Stevie Johnson playing the slot got open every time and Trent not once looking his way. And that was the recipe for getting Trent out of the league as a starter candidate. Why bother blitzing when you can just drop 7 or 8 and play the run first and tackle the RB he just checked down to.

Great coach. However, I would not want him in any capacity influencing the offensive side of the ball.

NFL Black Monday for coaches and GMs

The man chose the NFL over more time with his family. With 2 sons gone what would be the incentive NOT to keep coaching. Taking time off for him with tragedy as the excuse would be inconsistent with his history. It's conceivable that the loss of Jim Johnson is the main reason for Andy's current career trajectory. I wish him luck. -

Potential Update on Coaching?
RealityCheck replied to TheZone78's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I try not to weigh in on these types of threads since anything is possible at this point. Your guess is as good as mine. But the one thing that I always liked about Gruden is the versatility of his attack based on his talent and his aggressiveness in finding a QB that he can win with. He ran a wicked short passing game with the screen game in place of the run with the Raiders and a run heavy attack with the Bucs when QB became a weak position for them. Above all else, he knows that without consistent excellence at the QB position that you just can't win in this league. The guy is obsessed with football and I find it hard to believe that he is not working on x's and o's in private in lieu of the day that he gets another opportunity. My experience in heavy construction management leads me to want a guy with his intensity and tenacity combined with age and body of work to be a leader of men. Unfortunately for me I am a huge Bills homer and have hope that at least by accident this team will turn it around. No more player's coaches either. Some players should hate the coach. In my experience the workers that hated me were guys that hurt the crew and got bounced or got rode hard until they quit while the guys that stayed happened to be very good at their jobs and we got along great. The fact that there is little animosity in the locker room towards the coaching staff at this point in time in the face of genuine feel it in your bones failure speaks volumes to me. The absence of pressure from above gives you what we have today. The culture of losing has claimed another 3 years apparently. JMO. FWIW, who ever takes over this team, it won't matter without the RIGHT QB to lead the charge. If they chose unwisely, it could lead to another decade of the same s***, but different owner, coach, parking attendant, etc. -
If it were my money a gun would have to be put to my head to keep Fitz another year. We have seen the ceiling for Fitz and a number of other offensive players. It's time to be decisive and cut Fitz entirely out of the equation. Some posters think that the team quit on Gailey. I think they quit on Fitz. Fitz's interceptions cued many a collapse this year, or in some cases provided a final nail for the coffin. He is a worthy competitor, just not a winner at this level.

Would you want Tebow here as a Tight End?

How about ball washer? -
The one and only thing that will affect attendance is the Bills themselves. All of their alleged financial goals are achievable if the Bills become a playoff team again. If not then they get what they deserve. If I am going to give away money to charity, I am sure I will find a cause far more worthy than the Bills.

Who Handled their QB's Worse? Jets or Bills
RealityCheck replied to DFITZ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember the day the Jets traded up for Sanchez. I was very happy because I felt that they gave up a lot for a grenade. That team was poised to dominate for a little while with the right QB. They bet on the wrong guy and jobs will continue to be lost as a result. -
