Jerry Jones talks stadium & other stuff, likes Bon Jovi
RealityCheck replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From a gross revenue perspective, sure, the Bills could be worth more else where...in theory. I don't see that being the reality however. In any market, a new product's profitability requires knowledge of all of your opportunity costs, customer acquisition being a big one. Moving the team out of NY will be wildly expensive in that regard when coupled with the cost of a new stadium in an area that may not be as tax friendly in the long term. It would be interesting to learn what the tax ramifications on player salaries would be if 8 games were played in Canada. I certainly don't know anything about that aspect. That's just my 2 cents. Jerry Jones is not someone I would ever take seriously unless the conversation was about making money outside of the NFL. If the team were to leave the state, I would likely follow another team and root against the new incarnation for all it is worth. -
If you believe that the media is analogous to fan message boards, then my point has been made. Who needs facts and insight when hyperbole and perception are the well-spring from which current events are monetized? I don't feel that you found my previous response amusing in the least. Few people find amusement when the shoe is on the other foot.

Your sense of entitlement perhaps illustrates why coaches and players would desire to limit their exposure to your ilk. You have interests that are not in line with their interests. Since they are the primary source of fan excitement, it makes sense that the pilot fish in the situation would have hurt feelings. The fact is that writers may desire quotes, but these quotes come from mostly strange questions that take a number of leading, long winded, what is the point questions that are punctuated with proof that the reporter doesn't know much about football to begin with. The press coverage of Marrone after day 1 of rookie mini-camp was a train wreck of lame, long winded questions that the coach had trouble following. As the intermediary between the team and the fans, the media as an industry create more problems than good. As a culture, you guys seem to function more as pundits in the fact that a question always seems to be pre-empted with a diatribe or assumption at the vary least before clumsily getting to the point. Do you guys really need access to write your articles?

Clomid is used as part of PST (post steroid therapy. It is not a masking agent, and it typically is used as part of a larger program to bridge the gap between steroid cycles. PST only temporarily raises endogenous testosterone and the user will still get a testosterone crash regardless as the effects do wear off. As I said, it function as a bridge between cycles. It will be interesting to see when insulin levels will be tested as that it is extremely anabolic under the correct dietary/ stimulus conditions. It is widely abused at the Olympic level.

All 4 RBs are likely to be on the roster come September. Did everyone forget how often the Bills ran the ball last year while running a no-huddle? The Bills lead the league in rushing attempts and will likely do so again in 2014. Why on God's green Earth would they unload a RB when 3 barely survived the pace and punishment last year? The more the league becomes a passing league the more effective power running will be. As for Fred Jackson, he is here till his wheels fall off.

How do we use our WRs this year?
RealityCheck replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Running the ball will be much easier this year. -
Your reaction to his post is interesting. I am also someone who finds male homosexuality gross. Two men kissing is like watching someone eat their own puke. Why am I a bad guy if I get an upset stomach from seeing certain things. I suppose that some people should be forced to see or experience things that gross them out. Seems fair. I have the right to change the channel, and I often do. You need to realize that just like homosexuals that have zero control over their sexual orientation, their really are straight people in the world that can't control what grosses them out. Good luck on your request to promote one point of view while attacking all others to the contrary who are not "against" your core principal in the first place.

Chan Gailey with a REAL QB would be a killer. It will never happen in the NFL as a HC. As OC, he's legit.

NFL networks coverage of Michael Sam
RealityCheck replied to Gisele's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he can announce to the world that he enjoys anal sex with men? Then is it cool for a straight guy to announce to the world that he enjoys anal sex with women? If so, where is our parade? I know that I am not alone here. Will male athletes be misunderstood if they admit to such a thing at a press conference? Will Mike Mayock speak of the need for dialogue on the issue? Should we keep some things private? Are we ready for a women's feet float in the Thanksgiving Day Parade? -
Great Draft so far by Whaley
RealityCheck replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love all of the moves from the past 3 days. Is it September yet? -
That's Whaley's problem, not mine. I chose to just accept what they are currently doing. The alternatives don't appeal to me. As for the 2016 draft, whoever the GM is, they will have their first round pick back and have the opportunity to draft their guy. It is what it is. If you want to worry about that stuff, I won't be joining you. I am ready for the preseason right now.

What the backup QB position is missing is not additional youth. It is missing experience. FA is alive and well, and how soon we forget, there will be NFL QBs available as cuts begin throughout the offseason leading into camp. The Bills are clearly committed to EJ for at least this season and the next. If at that time they feel they need to try again, they will have their first round pick back. Judging by Whaley's willingness to trade up, they will get their man one way or the other in 2016 if EJ flops. Like it or not, this appears to be the plan. It is what it is.

Prediction: Michael Sam to the Bills in round 7

You're choosing a strange tactic in an effort to come out of the closet. -
DeSean Jackson released
RealityCheck replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gangs are everywhere, literally in the strangest, most unassuming places. In a broader sense, many people are affiliated with groups that are disciples of extortion and intimidation as their weapons of choice. Similar to Lynch, Jackson has unsavory distractions that the team appears to be aware of, and it is their right not to endorse such players. His out right release tells me that there are things behind the scenes that the Eagles do not want to enable. It's their money. Strange how an athlete can prioritize street associations over a gang (NFL) that can make his financial dreams come true, without the need for a gun to do your negotiating. If I were to chose a gang, I would chose the NFL over the bottom feeders. The kid clearly lacks vision to play the game of life. I hope that with his next opportunity, he can grow out of his current plight and not become a statistic, or worse yet, create a statistic. -
Houston looking to trade 1st pick (Buffalo?)

Are you saying that you want to limit how good the Bills defense is? -

It is nice to think that there is a guy that Whaley believes in that much at #1. If they really are sold on someone, the only guy I can think of is Clowney. He would be an every down and distance player on the D-line. If and when Mario's time is up, you have his replacement. The D-line room lead by Peppers would get his best game ready for Sundays. What a D-line that would make. 4 potential Pro-Bowlers on that line for 2014. -
Jim Kelly treated for cancer recurrence

My spirit is with all cancer patients and their families. I wish my soul could be exchanged for a cure. God bless everyone who embraces compassion and empathy. -
How do you know where Manziel ranks on any team's draft board? I am a skeptic of the guy based on size only. I admit it. But at the same time the kid has magic to his game. Someone will pick him early and it will make sense. If he drops to 9 I would understand why they would or wouldn't pick him as he is such an incredible wild card. It would certainly speak to the philosophies of the GMs that pass on him until he is picked. For me, if I wasn't prejudiced against his size I think he is the man. But again, his size is really what I hold against him if I were a GM. I can't wait to see where he goes and how it goes as he is such a rare cat. I agree that I don't see the Bills picking him if he is available, but then again I think he's the first QB off the board. Some GM in the top 8 will be sold on the kid, and why not? This kid is THE wild card at QB as of now.

This writer is a symptom. Analogy combined with hyperbole and egocentricity insidiously permeates the news media as an entity. It's flat out disgusting. I wish that I didn't read the article as it exemplifies the oral/ fecal fixation that fiction writers/ pundits ascribe to under the guise of being a news source. For once, just the damn facts if tact is not a consideration.

Again, I don't remember where I saw this. Maybe it was a short video on the NFL website. They showed some of their cover-3 concepts and the manner in which they employed press coverage, and then how the DBs and LBrs would pass guys off to each other and seemed to clog up every passing lane. It blew my mind watching a simple coverage being so unbelievably effective. When I think of how Wanny employed that same cover-3, but had everyone playing off, it blows my mind even more. You make a great point about the perception of Seattle's secondary. It's credit where it is due. I also think that you are right in that the Bills have the players to take advantage of that approach if Schwartz goes that way. I am definitely optimistic. I love Spring!

I don't have a link, but Pete Carroll made an important, and very concise statement pre-Super Bowl that summed up their base defense philosophy and how they relate it to their personnel, thus who they acquire to play in it. He said that they run a 4-3 with 3-4 personnel. Meaning they have DT that can 2-gap and single gap. They have OLBrs that can put their hand in the dirt, stand up and rush, and also flex to the slot and play zone coverage. Their inside LBrs are a little smaller and have range and coverage ability, and fill their gaps effectively against the run. They constantly rotate guys and almost everyone on the defense has at the very least an occasional role in basic sub-packages. Another words, they have versatile players that can rush and cover from a variety of spots without too many exotic looks, and have DTs that occasionally get used to 2-gap. I expect the Bills to employ their tweeners in a similar fashion and expect CB, S and LBrs to be inter-changeable when in Nickel and Dime packages. Let's not forget that Quarters offers a myriad of coverage/ rush combos that can be deployed. I am also assuming that Marrone was referring to the base run defense as where it will be less "cute" so to speak with their frontal alignments. These are my words of course, and not his. In short, I think the Bills are likely to play "shells" that are similar, with a wide variety of personnel combos and utilize just enough wrinkles in assignments to not outsmart themselves and get hammered in the run game.
