Offense almost unwatchable....
RealityCheck replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just don't get it. The Bills have a glaring talent deficit in the very middle of their offense, and in spite of this, they are 7 and 5. This team has nothing at the QB position and yet here we are, tuning in and hoping for miracles. Enjoy it while it lasts. If they can somehow reach 10 and 6, and I don't care how ugly it looks, it would give hope to the hopeless. I think that the Bills have the Broncos kryptonite, and Manning gets physically pummeled until benched in the 4th quarter. The Broncos defense is a paper tiger and goes as Manning goes. When the going gets tough, their pass rush goes to sleep. -
Fortunately for the Bills they made enough plays to win the game in spite of it. Fantastic play by the Bills D-line. It's amazing that KW is playing at such a high level after a few years of achilles issues and major surgery. KW is a Bill forever.

We can re-sign Dareus and Hughes
RealityCheck replied to Jmsbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills extend Dareus, I don't mind the loss of Hughes if it comes to that. Dareus is truly the tip of the spear in the Bills defense. He is a rare talent. -
Goodwin just isn't built for the NFL. It doesn't make him weak. It is just a sport that requires elite durability when compared to athletes from non-impact sport. These collisions are life altering experiences.

Mother Nature is a b****. It's times like these that define the true limits of your tax dollars at work. I pray that people will be good neighbors in the weeks ahead. Communities will really have to be active to maintain safety.

Beg, borrow, or steal but please get Cowher, or Dungy

And who were their respective QBs for those Super Bowls? Without a high quality QB, it just doesn't matter. -
At the end of the day, the individual efforts of the entire offense are mediocre with the exception of Fred Jackson and Sammy Watkins. McKelvin is really the only dummy on special teams and the defense, but you have on offense a number of habitual dummies that just can't make 2 good plays in a row. I'll let others complain about the coaches. I just see an improved group of players on offense that is consistantly undermined by a handful of the usual suspects. The TEs are more of a liability than any other group, while the o-line for their size seem to be confused and stiff legged half the time. Kyle Orton is a journeyman backup that can win some games, but for any extended length of time, he simply has limitations. He requires a reciever group to be nearly flawless and fearless if he is to have consistent success. It just isn't like that in the NFL. The Bills number one problem is still QB. In fact, as good as this defense is, they would be even better with high level QB play for 4 quarters. That says it all for me. The perennial playoff teams don't always have a top franchise QB, but that at least have a guy that for some stretch of the season at least played like one. Can Orton play like a franchise QB? The unfortunate answer for me is that he can only do it based on quarters of games, not groups of complete games. Part of why I am a Bills fan is that I do believe in miracles, as we all are currently living one, and if somehow they pull off some magic, I don't want to miss it, nor do I want to whine every day until I see it.

Has anyone seen how Mike Williams has looked in practice? Everyone appears to assume that this guy is a stud being held back, but I haven't heard anyone make reference to what this guy actually looks like on the practice field. I certainly don't know, and I would like to know if there is any first hand knowledge out there to shed light on the situation.

Buffalo at KC 25: Most Criminal Play Calling this season
RealityCheck replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fascinating. Just because of a statistical ranking as a top pass defense, you believe that passing was a bad idea despite route combinations that consistently yielded open receivers for the QB. Now I get it. I don't understand the logic but I guess that is your belief. This game for me was defined by players having their numbers called in big situations and some of them came up small or outright put the ball on the ground. It happens. -
Kyle Orton had to throw it away fairly quickly throughout the game. The O-line was just as porous as usual, Orton was just getting the ball out faster, and with less accuracy as the game progressed.

Buffalo at KC 25: Most Criminal Play Calling this season
RealityCheck replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yet another thread complaining about play calling and not describing what the actual plays were or the route combinations. People cry when the Bills run too much in a win. Now they cry when pass plays are called but Orton either misses a guy or doesn't see other wide open receivers. Straight up nonsense. When Orton took his shots at the end zone at the end of the game, does anyone really think that there weren't any underneath routes being run by the other eligible wide receivers? Guys got open, and Orton missed them. This game came down to execution. How can one complain about play calling when it seems many have no understanding of what they are watching? Yes, of course, Orton only had one option on any of those pass plays to end the game. Hacket obviously calls plays that give Orton only one target per play. Blame Hacket for everything all you want but the players lost this game, not the coaches. -
After a quality win like this, I am blown away by how many crybabies still aren't satisfied. 5 and 3, 2 and 1 in the division going into the bye, and yet the sniveling just never ends. Congratulations on proving that some people are born complainers. Rex was forced to stick mostly to run defense calls and failed to implement anything particularly exotic when the Bills passed. I am happy they didn't put the O-line in a position to get Orton killed or establish predictability in pass plays. If you think the O-line looks ugly on running downs, what makes anyone think they would be up to the task of protecting Orton on 30-40 drop backs against the Jets front? It takes a true loser to not know when you've won. Carry on with the whining though, I won't be joining you as I will be celebrating ALL day! Go BILLS!

What is the point of genocide if you can't monetize the imagery or the slang of the vanquished? I will say this however, if they do change the name they should use something more appropriate to their zip code. The Washington Whores or the Washington Traitors has a ring to it since the current name bothers congress so much. -
New stadium = good-bye to tailgating?

The NFL could team up with Pixar. It would be a slam dunk. The yellow first down marker is part of the journey, not the destination. -
I am with you 100% on this.

I was never a fan in the first place. Too bad Van Halen wasn't into buying the team. "Van Halen Arena" has a ring to it!

New stadium = good-bye to tailgating?
RealityCheck replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the NFL were smart, they would just go right to making 20,000 seat venues with domes and charge top dollar for premium amenities and field proximity while CGIing the backdrop for TV purposes. Why fly to a stadium in London or Paris when you can play stateside and simply superimpose extraordinary backdrops. They could play on the moon, a moon of Saturn, the center of an active volcano, or in a dome at the bottom of the ocean with neon fish checking out the game on the cheap. Better yet, the fans get to chose at home what the backdrop looks like. They could superimpose all kinds of extreme weather if they wished. I think it's the future of home viewing, sooner or later. -
The majority of people could care less about the health of these players. They are a disposable asset to the team, and they are a disposable source of entertainment to the fans. In the court of public opinion, they will be found guilty of partaking in a culture that the average American desk jockey will never understand, nor have the capacity to empathize with. Yes, be the man that gives it up for his team and fans at all costs, and when you get hurt or crippled, hit the bricks. At least we can agree that opiates in the name of financial gain and a shot at the playoffs is acceptable. Children need to make note of this.
