Use the Chat room NOT the Shout Box for the game...
uncle flap replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i thought the chat room was a cool feature during the cinci game. everyone defending the game threads is spot on. i like to read them the next day, or in the evening after the game. once in a while there's some interesting tidbits i didn't pick up on while watching the game (like who missed an assignment, who blew their coverage, who made a crucial block, etc.). The game thread is especially helpful in putting the pieces back together after home games where alcohol consumption may have altered or obliterated certain memories. and finally, the shout box is useless during the games, since we now have the chat feature. PS SDS- you do a great job, and i love the new board -
Are you drafting Spiller in for your fantasy team?
uncle flap replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i had the 12th in a 12 team lg last year. i wanted to kill myself during the draft, but i wound up in third place. it just felt awful like i was reaching every pick. -
Are you drafting Spiller in for your fantasy team?
uncle flap replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'm targeting spiller. i'm in the middle of the pack in a weeklong draft. round one hasnt ended yet but i got andre johnson 6th overall. i know the other players' tendencies so i think i can get brees mendenhall wells and boldin. but also who the hell knows. i may take a te after or spiller depending whos available. spiller has been jumping up a ton of online projections. i have a feeling the other owners in my league may avoid spiller (at least early on) in order to avoid the ribbing. we all love the bills but pick one and you won't hear the end of it. lee evans is like gonorrhea. he's burned almost everyone. beggar - is that a ppr league? -
at least jauron is gone and we don't have to cringe during the coin toss

Trent the Dale Carnegie QB.
uncle flap replied to John Belucheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
aw... i was so tempted to reply to this also, but i thought it'd be best to let it slip off the first page... oh well. plus, this reply is much more clever than what mine would've been, simply, "shut up." since i decided to spend a little more time, i'll add that fitz sucks. but i like his chutzpah and i'd much rather have him than brian br-yawn. i know, brohm just needs a chance to play with and against starters, that's his ticket. -
there is room and if anyone is the "past," it's jackson. sorry. i like him a lot and think he's a tremendous player, but he's the odd man out IMO.

Preseason Game #3 Microcosm of Season
uncle flap replied to tonyjustbcuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah win or lose, as long as we look like a competitive pro football team, i'll be satisfied. i'll be paying attention to our depth, esp on defense. i hope to see moats looking like he has a clue. and some positive signs from our secondary. as highly touted as they are, i've noticed quite a few mistakes and poor decisions thus far in the preseason. -
Some bad defense being played

as a teacher, i'll just say leave the grading to the professionals. i give it an A for effort. besides, you (and everyone else - not trying to single you out SJBF) know what he meant. i will agree and say scoe = welker with a bum knee. if scoe had marciatom brady throwing him the ball, i bet a lot more of TSW would be singing scoe's praises.

i gave away all my tickets however, they are going to families with kids, who'll prolly enjoy it more than i would

Also not interested in a flame war but it's worth noting PlayStation online network is free, and I should've mentioned graphics wise it may depend on your TV. I've also used both and ps3 seems noticably crisper and vibrant. Also ps3 seems to load faster in general

oh man, where to begin... running- play calling is as important as execution. if the defense is cheating one way, audible the run to the other side. if the d is stacking the box, audible to a quick pass or a screen. lastly: WAIT FOR YOUR BLOCKS! this is more intuitive now that there is no speed burst. the bills line sucks so try to use our better players to your advantage. run counters and follow levitre or wood. our interior is stronger than the tackles - duh - so call some inside runs and then bounce them outside with spiller. he's fast so once you hit the edge, you're gone. instead of leaning on the sticks, try flicking them. the running backwards after breaking a tackle just happens sometimes, nothing you can really do except try to roll with it and reverse fields if possible. and on another note... online play is where it's at. i'm flapezoid on ps3. come get some. also any serious players interested in joining online franchise(s) let me know. there's a fantasy draft this friday with a few spots open.

if you are primarily using the system to play games: PS3 by a landslide. the graphics and processor are far superior. xbox gives you a little more freedom as far as using other media and online features unrelated to gaming (fresh out of the box), but i have my ps3 wirelessly connected to my laptop and desktop and am able to use software that sony won't let you install on the ps3 harddrive to watch tv shows, movies, play music, and basically stream whatever to my tv via my ps3. it takes a little more work to set it up on ps3, but once you got it configured, you're golden. that said, even with out doing anything complicated, ps3 plays many video and audio formats, just not all of them. edit: oh yeah bluray is a much more valuable feature than hddvd or whatever xbox plays

Here's my Training Camp Report from Saturday 8/21/10
uncle flap replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
isn't he a gunner also? -
+1 really, trent looked good and so did brohm. i'm encouraged by gailey's adjustments, and again, gailey's offensive play calling. it seems like this year we're going to be putting a lot more points on the board than to what we've grown accustomed.

this is the only reason why i still retain the faintest of hope for trent. as much as he sucks, if he is able to just get a little better, and make one or two more plays a game, the offense as a whole becomes a much stronger unit. however, trent seems intent on refusing to live up to the potential that made him the #1 recruit coming out of high school and had bill walsh singing his praises. i still hope chan has something up his sleeve to help our qbs succeed, or at least minimize their shortcomings. i wonder how much it would cost to get tony robbins to come to OBD and convince trent to let his nuts hang...
