  1. if anyone plays on ps3, message me or reply to this if you're interested in joining an online franchise. stevie johnson, torrell troup, and some other bills have been in our leagues. SJ13 has been primarily playing xbox in the offseason but he's got his ps3 here in buffalo during the season (or at least did the last two years). my ps3 name is flapezoid
  2. First of all, no one is forced to declare for the draft. Declaring for the draft is in essence submitting an application to work for a company. After that, all bets are off. The poor college students you refer to who are not "allowed to sell their services to the highest bidder" in fact are allowed to do just that. In the case of a football player, the NFL as a whole is the highest bidder. Those students are free to sell their services to any other company in the country (or world, for that matter). These players choose the NFL bc they will typically make more money working for the NFL than any other company (ie WalMart, Ford, Jim's SteakOut, etc). The fact that the SC has ruled NFL teams compete against each other has no bearing on this topic. So anyway, I fail to see what "rights" are being infringed upon.
  3. the other dudes are from buffalo. g5gi went to st joes. he's coming out with a mixtape called "why so serious" featuring more songs w stevie johnson aka stevie styles also, just curious... do any of you who (besides FB city) are saying this sucks like ANY hip hop? i mean its not great but it isnt terrible either. especially compared to a lot of commercial/pop rap
  4. shhh! if they aren't licensed some agency (like ICE i think) will confiscate them. ive seen it happen to more than a few stores in the area.
  5. i completely agree, just kinda brainstorming... i guess my point is if LA has to get a team, it needs to come from California, or be an expansion team. and furthermore i don't think LA should get a team
  6. LA, Toronto, Las Vegas, Columbus, Cleveland before they came back, Baltimore before cleveland went there, any of the expansion cities of the last 30 years, any area w a metro population > 1 million...
  7. 2 x 32 = 64 more games if the season was extended to 18 games. 16 x 2 = 36 more games if 2 expansion teams are added 36 is less than 64 but then the owners get partially what they want, more games and a team or two in LA do the teams in ? (rams, jags, etc) lose $, or just don't make as much of a profit as most other teams? in general, i'm not really pro-expansion but i think if LA/NFL is hellbent on bringing a team to LA, who don't they just expand? i think there's enough of a counter-movement to keep the NFL OUT of LA since they've failed so many times in the past. there has to be people who realize the potential for disaster... move the rams back to LA and it doesn't go well, then you've messed up a franchise in two cities rather than just one. and just bc LA is so big doesn't mean they deserve a team. unless SD, OAK, or SF moves there, you are going to be competing for fans in an established market. i know there's football fans in LA, but aren't they already supporting one of the other california teams?
  8. i would say there's two schools of thought regarding the "secrecy" 1: the plan would not be popular among the fans and 2: not disclosing a plan eliminates the possibility of having to change the plan in case there's some snag down the road i believe the second position is more likely. imagine ralph comes out and says, "don't worry, i'll sell the team to X when i pass, and he/they will keep the bills in buffalo." all of a sudden, competing groups might arise and attempt to screw up the deal. politicians will get involved. fans will B word and moan to the tune of "if youre going to sell it to X anyway, just do it now" plus, if ralph announces his plan, what if he lives for ten more years and then X loses their money somehow in the meantime? then what? i'm sure ralph and his execs have a ton of plans and contingency plans. but it wouldn't be in anyone's best interests to make those plans public. ultimately it's up to ralph. announcing his plan(s) will just invite the public to debate the merits of those plans, when they don't actually have a say in what happens. all in all, i'm confident ralph has taken measures to ensure that his legacy is not tarnished by allowing the bills to leave buffalo. as someone pointed out, one can look to not selling the naming rights to the stadium. if it really was ONLY about the $, i think the bills would've been gone a long time ago.
  9. i agree they've done a phenomenal job overall, but the kelsay extension was certainly a head-scratcher. all i can say in regards to that is since every other move buddy has made seems to be coherent and applaud-able, there's probably something going on there concerning info to which we fans are not privy. as soon as spiller takes that next step (hopefully upfield, and not towards the sideline, lol) and the bills start winning with more consistency, i think the national media will really begin to highlight what a great job buddy's doing
  10. fixed (with wishful thinking) seriously tho - not saying they shld run a spread/4wide set exclusively but i am excited about the wr corps: SJ13 and easley/nelson on the outside, scoe and lee in the slot. i know i'm singing the same old song but that would create some interesting matchups w/ fjax or cj coming out of the backfield... and getting draws and screens. man i wish coaching in the nfl was as easy as playing madden cuz i'd be the oc of the year go bills!
  11. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/George-Wilson-back-with-Bills/4f1cbd51-6151-424e-a754-3e0e1ddf4ec2 bb.com article re: wilson signing
  12. i know! i almost can't believe it. i can't help but think, "what's the catch?"
  13. @GWilson37 George Wilson Before I take off, I want to let all Bills fans know that today I signed a 3 year contract to return to western NY. Words just can't explain http://twitter.com/#!/GWilson37/status/42709778031583232
  14. in one respect, you're right, it isn't any different. in both cases, we're talking about senseless animal abuse. i guess what i'm trying to say is that it's like the difference between how you treat different types of cars. say you've got a used beat-up SUV or pickup that you and your friends use to go off-roading and throw muddy gear in it all the time. you don't wash it too often, you might let some rust develop. you don't really treat it well, and it serves a particular purpose to you. and when it breaks down and isn't worth restoring, it might be fun to beat the **** out of it. but now imagine you've got a new maserati, or even a new camry or something. you want it too look good. you take good care of it. you might want your kids to wipe their feet before they get in. you need it to get you to work and you want to look good in it. it serves a different purpose than the hooptie truck mentioned above, and it means something else to you. and therefore, you treat it differently. now, i'm not trying to say killing/torturing a dog is no different than mistreating a truck, but i hope i better explained how some might consider abusing a certain type of animal as "better or worse" than mistreating another. using the car metaphor, i guess it's the difference between someone driving their no-longer-useful truck into a field and setting it on fire vs keying someone else's car while it's sitting in their driveway. again, i still think it's terrible what vick did to those dogs, but i don't see him as some insane psychopath. different strokes.
  15. i was more offended by vick abusing dogs. but i think big ben is more of a scumbag, if that makes sense. like someone said before, dog-fighting and the abuse, torture, etc. that goes with it is part of many regional/historic cultures. not my cup of tea, but i'm not really mad at vick about it. and i may be wrong, but the crimes he was convicted of were related to gambling and tax evasion, not the treatment of the animals. the reason it's so offensive to me is because i can't help but picture a family friendly yellow lab pet being abused. and that's really offensive. but the rational part of me knows that these are not the same type of animals. they are almost feral- bred to battle. it's still not right IMO, but more understandable and completely different than the psycho kid who tortures his neighbor's cat. big ben might be an !@#$ but that in and of itself is not a crime. rape is rape and abuse is abuse, but i can't help but wonder if big ben has become a victim of his ungentlemanly ways. not that i feel bad for him, but i think what is most likely is that he associates himself with drunk promiscuous sluts. if there wasn't anything to gain by accusing him of sexual assault, i doubt these women would have come forward. just the feeling i get about ben. it's different than the guy that dresses up in black and breaks in a home to commit these crimes. i don't know what happened in that bar's bathroom, but i think it's just a case of regret on the chick's part, realizing she's just another slut and not the future mrs. big ben. she prolly thought she'd have the last laugh but it looks like she's wrong.
  16. due to my age, i don't have the pleasure of recalling picks from the bills' heyday. also, i'm cursed by my painful optimism. i was ecstatic when marshawn was picked. he is still one of my favorite players and i loved him in college. i was also really pumped about maybin. i honestly thought he'd be a difference maker. serves me right for putting too much faith in the bills brass to make the right decision. i do wonder where he would've gone if they didn't pick him where they did. like i said, i'm so optimistic so no pick has really made me vomit, at least in the first round. there have been a bunch of 2nd and 3rd round head-scracthers over the past few years tho.
  17. i have a ton of brushes with bills and sabres, although many of them at public promoted events. i've also been fortunate enough to bump into and/or see bills and sabres out at the bars. best bar story - my friends and i saw a few of bills out on chippewa a few years ago. mcgahee was one of them. usually when i/we see athletes at the bar we leave them alone or just give them a "let's go buffalo." but my friend just absolutely had to tell willis a long winded story about a pipe that he had that broke but he was able to put back together. since the pipe reminded him of willis (reconstructed knee) he named it "mcgahee." i guess it was one of those "you had to be there" stories, but it was surreal and hilarious. too bad mcgahee turned out to be a d-bag. speaking of d-bags, my best non-bar story involves dominik hasek at a card signing. this was when the sabres first acquired him, and there weren't even any cards with him in a sabres uniform yet. i had a score "top prospects" card of hasek in a hawks uniform. his name printed on the card was "dominic hasek." so when he autographed he crossed out the "c" and wrote a "k" above it before he autographed it. i don't remember what he said about it (i was pretty young) but some old guy was like, "that's gonna be worth some money someday." actually, i have to add one more. that same hasek day, i saw brad may at jubilee before i went to the card signing at hearthstone manor.i told him i was going to see hasek, bob sweeney, and some one else like jason dawe or phillipe boucher -i dont even remember. but brad may told me to tell bob sweeney that he said he's a blockhead. a night or two before sweeney missed an open net by shooting the puck clear over. i dont remember the play being consequential- pretty sure they won anyway but it was still really cool to be 10 or however old i was and delivering a message from one sabre to another. i lied, one more - jim kelly and kent hull gave me peanuts at the sabres game once, and bought me a pop another time. and said hi to me a bunch of times since my dad had seasons kind of near their seats.
  18. i dint take the time to read all the replies but i'm going to second k-dub and toss in k-will if no one else has already. odds are, his teammates already have a nickname for him. i doubt he goes by "kyle" in the locker room. if someone already mentioned that, my apologies...
  19. oh yeah, so i'm sure we'll see a lot more nelson.... BUT.... this is spiller's chance to fill scoe's role. he might be a problem in the slot regularly. (that's a problem for the opponent, trolls!)

  22. ... pronounced with an 'umpty'
  23. no, an automatic "fail" is using an outdated internet meme - jk... seriously, stroud and d edwards haven't impressed me. at least kelsay is a positive locker room influence and leader. how do i think he'd do against an OT for an entire game? not great, but prolly better than stroud or edwards. kelsay has been pretty consistent over the years as a DE. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KelsCh21.htm not prow bowl numbers or anything but, i since as long as he's been resigned and is a captain - let's put him where he can play to his potential. if stroud were playing better this year, he'd have my vote (for many of the reasons i chose kelsay). but he isn't. and if the bills had better options, then i'd be all for cutting stroud, edwards, AND kelsay. but they don't
  24. here's my front seven: carrington - troup - k williams - kelsay maybin - poz - moats i don't think maybin is going to get any better on the sidelines. he's still young and i don't think we've seen all he has to offer. i don't think any of the vets are gonna be a long term answer. however, if maybin continues to suck, then get batten in there asap. edit: or coleman, if not batten
