first of all, i never said i disagree that there was plenty of poor execution - my point is that even if the players executed properly, the game plan and play calling still sucked. everyone has tape on the bills now, they arent surprising anyone anymore like they were at the beginning of the season. i admit if a few plays had gone differently, the game wouldve been a lot closer. too many dropped balls and too many defenders not finishing the play. but ultimately, the secret is out on beating the bills: sit on the short routes against our offense, and keep running against the D until they stack the box and blitz - then throw deep or screen vs man on man coverage. on both sides of the ball, the bills are TOO PREDICTABLE. that doesnt have anything to do with execution. im sure you, like me, can tell what play the bills are running as soon as they line up. guess what? so can the opposition

i also agree. i mean if the bills did win, it wouldve been in spite of his game planning. again, i dont want to put it all on chan, there's a lot of blame to go around. but for all the "surprising" stuff chan cooked up early in the year - it is no longer a surprise. the only silver lining coming off these the last two games is that opponents will go back to underestimating the bills.

The biggest problem on that play is that when the Bills showed blitz, Romo audibled to a deep throw, recognizing the one-on-one coverage. Why doesn't George Wilson or whomever is calling defensive plays ON THE FIELD recognize that and back off of the blitz???? As soon as Byrd came up on the edge, Romo send bryant deep and told murray to stay in and pick up byrd. i'm just some schmuck watching on TV and i saw that a mile away. obviously, bills dont have an elite defense or a ray lewis type "qb of the defense," but shouldnt they have a player who can make defensive presnap adjustments??? every week, i see defenses show blitz, and when the offense audibles, the D either backs out of the blitz altogether or at least makes it appear that they are adjusting to the adjustment. there is no presnap communication on the defensive side of the ball. i know we are NOT the jets, but when u watch the jets D, you see them moving around and even if they arent actually adjusting the play, they are shouting to one another as if MAYBE they wont do what they are lined up to do. 99.9999% of the time if the Bills show blitz, they blitz. They seem to never make adjustments once the initial play call is in.

Anybody watch or listen to the post-game press conferences the past two weeks? Chan's presser I'm hearing a lot of the same sentiment, and it seems to me that Chan has these guys convinced that it is simply a matter or execution, and/or playing harder. I don't think it's that simple. Yes, the guys played flat. Everyone would've liked to see the Bills get up for a big home game last week. Then after getting smacked in your own house, you'd think the Bills could've played with a little more passion down in Dallas. Here's the rub: Once again, the play calling has become predictable - on both sides of the ball. Screens don't work when DBs and LBs are sitting on short routes anyway. Defense needs to be able to make on field adjustments without coaches clearance. I could go on - but my point here is that even if the Bills were playing tough and "executing," there is still a lot of room for improvement in game planning and play calling. Here's to hoping that Chan is looking in the mirror and realizing that he (and the rest of the coaching staff) need to put the players in a better position to succeed. Anyone agree? or is it true that it's just a matter of the players needing to make plays?

right on. i think there needs to be a paradigm shift. now, everyone thinks they key to a good life is college. but all that debt is a major setback. college shouldnt seem mandatory. if you cant afford college, dont go. and as far as health care goes, costs rise because people are willing to pay the price. i mean upper middle class and above. any below it doesnt matter because they arent paying directly. med tech and pharmaceuticals continue to develop new drugs and tech because they know theres money to be made there, not out of the goodness of their hearts. simple (tongue-in-cheek) solution: STOP SPENDING MONEY YOU DONT HAVE ON THINGS YOU THINK YOU - BUT DONT ACTUALLY - NEED solution part two: banks and other lenders - STOP GIVING PEOPLE MONEY THEY WILL LIKELY NEVER BE ABLE TO PAY BACK

So I bought a ticket for this Sunday's game in Toronto
uncle flap replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
anyone know if toronto fans were encouraged to wear bills colors and sing shout at previous games? -
if... and it would never happen... but IF somehow the ny market doesnt sell out on its own, the NFL would either overtly or covertly purchase the remaining tickets so it wouldnt have to deal with that scenario. although the current blackout rules are archaic considering the state of the economy, etc., the NFL wouldnt want to have to defend its policy, especially on a national stage. of course they could go all jville in the meadowlands and cover seats... could you imagine??? home/away has little bearing. by not blacking out a home game the league would set a precedent that would leave fans in SD (or wherever else theres trouble selling seats) calling BULL

thats why i bumped it! good call! i still think spiller is about to bust a big one

i agree. i make music as a hobby and it takes a lot of work. to make anything that sounds like what you hear on tv or the radio, you need a team of professionals spending a ton of time on a million aspects. and those professionals are using state of the art equipment. sometimes, you have to look past the production value and just say to your self, "i dig what this is about." now i know a lot of people dont like rap. fine. but in the case of this and that other song, what is it that the "haters" are comparing it to? some top 40 song? sheesh. They're just fun songs about sports teams. do you think someone is going to criticize you for saying that you like it? "oh mr billsfan 3496u3 likes this crappy song, he must be a d-bag." who cares??????? signed, another sympathetic crappy musician ps - does everyone hate the mendola bills rap songs too? or are those ok because they arent "serious?" pps - i prefer this amateur sabres rap:

hey thanks for the feedback. obviously im a huge homer and want both smith and spiller to make significant impacts. just wanted to get a pulse on what yall were thinking. as far as fantasy goes, i plucked up good ol harry douglas and gave avant the timbaland. i mean, matty ice cant throw it to roddy EVERY play right? back to the bills: after a little more thought, ive decided smith is the more valuable Bill down the stretch (assuming freddy stays healthy), but this week spiller is gonna bust a big run (or two) or get some serious yac on screens. ps - in other predictions, look for the jags to cover the spread and *gasp* maybe even pull out the W GO BILLS

i wore the tape out at the end of RESPECT from hitting rewind at the end -
jason avant it is... he's practically a bill after last week anyway right? but aside from fantasy purposes - what do you guys think about their respective impacts in reality football?

---Self Disclosure: In a super deep fantasy league, I will be starting one of the two in my flex position (due to julio jones's injury)--- Considering the injuries at WR, which necessitate smith seeing more snaps as a wideout, do you anticipate him making a difference in the passing game? or do you think the bills will stick to an increase in screens and swing passes to freddy? or maybe some pa passes to chandler? i have a hunch chan is going to lean on his new toy and find ways to get smith more involved in all facets, be it at wideout or more chances as as the wildcat wildBill QB. If smith is not going to have a significantly increased role, could this mean we see more two-back sets? If defense coordinators are smart, they'll pick up on the screens and swing passes to freddy. but what will they do with spiller back there as well? paying too much attention to the flats leaves the secondary vulnerable over the middle or deep outs. a defense cant focus on all three areas, theyll have to pick their poison. lastly, freddy hasnt been pounding the rock 30x a game. would an increase in running plays lead to an increase in just freddy's stats? or do you think spiller will pick up the slack? i have to think chan et al are thinking about the late season game where they will HAVE to run the ball more. do they get spiller ready for an increased workload now? or do they just ride freddy til the wheels fall off? soooooooooooo..... what do YOU think they'll do, and what do you think they SHOULD do? oh yeah --- who should i start?? PPR and TD heavy league.

if bills did acquire lloyd, theyd league the league in rapping wide receivers
-
i hadnt noticed that, nice catch. whether or not the bills ever intend on running a reverse or throwback play, it certainly opens up the return game. if indeed this is a pattern, the opposition will have to account for the possibility, which takes at least one coverage person away from pursuing smith. chan, you sly devil...

Top 10 Reasons Why the Bills Will Choke
uncle flap replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
a lot of truth is said in jest, and some of those "reasons" allude to legitimate concerns. that said, it'll take a lot more than what WE HAVE ACTUALLY WITNESSED to make me pessimistic about the Bills' chances in ANY game going forward. although there's been some missteps here and there, i think we can all agree the bills have been continuing to improve in all facets of the game since the bye week last year. i was talkin to my buddy at work today about concerns going forward. and yes, there are some things that i could worry about, but i'm not going to. so far this year, the bills have proved to me that they deserve the benefit of the doubt, and i will continue to be optimistic til i'm proved wrong. we all know a 4-1 record can be a fluke, but it sure doesnt feel like it GO BILLS -
i could be wrong, but i thought blackout rules apply to the sunday ticket also. don't shoot the messenger

Kids day at Buffalo Bills Stadium
uncle flap replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NYS smoke-free laws do not regulate RWS. "outdoor" stadiums operate in a grey area. this is why smoking was originally limited to the outer concourse, then later pushed to the yellow boxes. The smoking ban was adopted by the bills in reaction to pressure from the NFL, not "due to fan's wishes" as OBD has claimed. I dont have a link to one source containing all this info, but im sure youre savvy enough to google and connect the dots. the bills have even received an award for adopting their proactive anti-smoking policy. of course they wouldnt be given an award for merely complying with state/county law. not trying to start an argument here, but i have yet to read/hear any sort of justification for this policy other than the NFL has been "encouraging" all stadiums to adopt a smoke-free policy. edit: here's a list of nfl smoking policies to see how RWS stacks up: http://www.no-smoke.org/pdf/smokingpoliciesNFLstadiums.pdf edit part 2: here's the actual state law: http://www.health.state.ny.us/regulations/public_health_law/section/1399/ -

dont you guys see that the "rub" here is that this is just another mixed message and instance of a communication breakdown among the bills org and security forces. why are balloon hats even being offered if the children cant bring them into the game? shouldnt there be some middle man there to tell whoever was planning on giving away balloon hats that maybe the should consider some other activity/give-away for the kids. just like the new lot and parking rules - and then the bills release a statement encouraging fans to arrive early. but not too early since our lots are opening later this year. come on. i went to two of the preseason games, but i am interested to see how this new abbott road closing is going to work out with a packed house. and then there's the smoking ban. was smoking really a problem? the smokers were already cordoned off to an isolated area near the outer gates. easily avoidable if you dont want to risk inhaling secondhand smoke. by banning smoking altogether, i think we will see a rise in people smoking in the stands and restrooms where ppl feel there are less likely to be caught because they can hide among large amounts of people. not that i think going to the game should be a wild west free for all, but this sanitized product goddell is pushing is really taking away the spirit of the game. if a fan wants that sanitized experience, stay home! the view is much better considering most people have digital HD televisions. -

Fitzy almost knocked himself out
uncle flap replied to Robchester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i thought this thread was gonna be about the wildcat play in the redzone where fitz was sizing up a defender. i like the out-for-blood attitude, but it makes me nervous when the starting QB is trying to label someone. i thought the primary benefit of having b smith and the new 3rd QB rule is that fitz doesnt have to be on the field and risk injury blocking... -
