  1. agreed about trying anything. stroud might be out of gas - idk what his deal is this year. what i would really like to see is carrington getting on the field. is he still not 100% or what? i think he'll be a difference maker eventually, and i hope it's sooner rather than later. as long as we're moving ppl around, how bout kelsay back to straight up DE? let moats stay at LB where he won't be as much of a liability in pass coverage.
  2. oh i agree. i meant since buddy has preached about building through the draft, slept through free agency, and the fact he is a glamorized scout - draft picks to him are precious.
  3. oh it has. but buddy's not giving up any of his precious draft picks. and NE will do their damndest to keep him out of the division. unless of course they really want to teach him a lesson - 'cause no one wants to shuffle off to buffalo. EDIT: seriously, great idea, thoner i'd be so happy if they pulled it off
  4. agreed. too bad it's not happening. the only moves they're capable of making result in getting more draft picks. which will fill those holes in...say... 3 years?
  5. very. seriously tho, i think some continuity would have helped a lot of players. continuity in the FO, continuity in the coaching staff, continuity in schemes... i'm not saying they should've kept anyone just for the sake of continuity, but they let lots of good players go. and the coaching/coordinator carousel hinders player development. for example, trent. now he sucks and i'm not sure the best coaches in the world would turn him into peyton, but he, along with all the players, were constantly being forced to use new schemes and strategies. that effects a player's comfort zone and confidence. this goes back to the FO. if they could manage to find and keep decent coaches, the players would benefit and wouldn't have to be constantly evaluated and see where they fit. i thought gailey was known for coaching to his players' strengths. not that we have (m)any. yes, there's been some bad draft blunders, but good F0s, coaches, and scouts, find players who fit into their systems and molds. When your team has no identity and seemingly no plan - and nothing to really build around, you get our bills.
  6. i love this video!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_niy2ZM5Jo
  7. I guess now is that point. Anybody need tickets? what's really going to grind my gears is when the bills beat the hell out of the jags and my optimism is momentarily renewed. thank god we play baltimore next and i can be back brought down to reality. i'm going to be in bmore for that game too. thank goodness i haven't bought tickets yet. PS where do you sign up for the doom n gloom club? i'm turning in my rose colored glasses and my homer card. d'oh! (get it?!?!)
  8. but wasn't polian brought in bc the fans wouldn't stand for the inferior on-field product? what did they do then? just not show up?
  9. i've been going to games since i was a kid. i've had season tickets the last 7 years. i've been disappointed, furious, and indifferent at various points the past few years. what i am trying to figure out now, is if there is anything i can do as an individual, or as part of an organized group of fans to really send a message to the powers that be that drastic, EFFECTIVE changes must be made. sure, renting a billboard might make a statement, but if it gets a bad coach canned, only to be replaced with a seemingly (at this point) worse coach, what can we as fans do? i'm already drafting a letter demanding a refund for this year's tickets. i don't expect a refund, but i want it to be known i can't continue to spend the thousands of dollars over the years on a product that i believe has been given adequate time and opportunity to improve, has yet to do so, and doesn't seem capable and/or interested in doing so either. i left the game yesterday in the second quarter when it became apparent there would be no chance for not only a victory, but for any worthwhile entertainment. i was going to liken the bills to the washington generals, but the globetrotters at least let them make some plays to keep it interesting. so, fellow TBDers, have i just been naive all along? i'm 27, grew up during the superbowl streak. was that really just a fluke? as for my letter, to whom should i address it? any points i should add? and what else can i or we do? petitions? boycotts? drive 5 flagellation? self-immolation? flame away - i'm serious to an extent, but more importantly, i needed to vent. thanks for your time.
  10. oh ok. i thought you meant mediocre starters
  11. yeah really. at this point, i don't care how they line up - 43, 34, nickel, 46, whatever - just blitz! from everywhere! if they're going to lose by 3 or 4 scores, they might as well attack the LOS and maybe force some turnovers. the way it seems now is that opposing offenses don't even have to gameplan against the bills, since EVERYTHING is available. take away something for crissake!
  12. and a chance to get injured... and a chance to have their confidence eradicated... and a chance to absorb the loser mentality... i'm only being half-serious, i do think real game time experience generally improves players, but at the same time i can easily see throwing some of these guys into the fire will just get them burned. maybin, on the other hand, i think should get as much PT as possible this year. IF the talent really is there (i doubt it), getting tossed around might spark something in him. If it doesn't by the end of the year, cut him.
  13. i'll be in the rockpile holding one that reads "$24 mil? Ralph - kelSAY IT AIN'T SO!"
  14. just got the text. glad i'm at home instead of work so i didn't have stop myself from yelling
  15. I agree that evans is good, but i think we should trade him now - for as many draft picks/prospects possible - while he has value. by the time the bills' right the ship, evans will be old and maybe have lost a step. as the op noted, we have so many weak positions but a wr's status is instantly upgraded with a solid qb. getting rid of evans creates a huge talent hole, but in the scope of the whole team, it's not that big of a deal. i'd much rather lack at wr than ol, lb, or dl. while williams is no 'stud' nt, he does a great job and i think his performance doesn't detract from the 3-4. of course a better player would make the defense as a whole better, but he's one of our better players on d. and i too have noticed bell's progression, let's hope he keeps it up.
  16. Below is an article written by a friend of a friend with a funny take on buffalo's drafting woes. Credit to Adam S. I hope he doesn't mind me posting this I know there have been discussions on this topic ad nauseam, but this article is very well written and certainly worth a read by any bills fan. Enjoy
  17. i think you're on to something here
  18. i'm not saying this to defend trent, but if he were suffering from some type of the yips, how is it that he was able to deliver the ball to scoe on that td play? i realize literally no one was covering scoe, but i've seen other receivers wide open down the field and trent won't put it up there. evans constantly beats his man only to turn around and see that the ball is being checked down already. i think it is more a case of just being gun shy, and although i mostly like what chan has done so far, i can't understand why he doesn't say something to trent like, "i don't care if there's double coverage or whatever - throw the damn ball DEEP down the sideline and let evans [or whomever] try and make a play!" they're going to wind up punting anyway if they can't move the ball more than 2 yards at a time, so and interception 40 yds down the field isn't a big deal, if it happens. it's one thing to flat out suck, but i'd rather have a QB that sucks and TRIES. and no i don't want fitz or brohm to start. i just want edwards to TRY!
  19. crazy like a fox
  20. i agree about f jax. but i think the balance of lynch and spiller will depend on the team we are playing. whoever is in there should have enough consecutive plays to get into a rhythm tho. i think we'll see lynch with spiller or jackson in two back sets with spiller or jackson occasionally motioning out, esp with our current lack of TE depth. if i were calling the shots, i'd start with lynch for two drives, and if he's doing well, keep feeding him the ball. if not, let spiller work his magic and then come back to lynch to grind it out late in the game. although lynch isn't as dynamic as spiller catching the ball, he's still a threat on the receiving end as well.
