if there's any humor in this it's that these boners (and many more) occurred under the coach who played not to lose. and you let/put your players in position for this type of stuff? watching these make me want to puke.

Clayton ranks the worst 5 offseasons
uncle flap replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i understand that in ranking team's offseasons, some teams' moves and drafts are going to seem better than others. but i don't buy that bills had a "bad" offseason bc of what other teams did. there aren't many teams that had as many holes as the bills. and they seemed to fill some the "right" way, imo. so, all of a sudden the offseason is a disaster bc the bills aren't primed to make a run at the superbowl? if they tried to solve the qb and lt problems, clayton and others would probably still grade us poorly and say, "well, they didn't adequately address the bottom-feeding run defense." and what if the bills managed to land cowher and went out and signed players to fill EVERY need? then the media would be all over the bills talkin bout "you can't buy a championship," and "they should be building through the draft," etc. we are better than last year, and no matter what the w-l columns say, i have to believe the bills will be even better after this season. -

thanks for the update. glad to hear he's getting a shot somewhere, too bad it's not here

sorry you don't understand how twitter works. if you want to say the above is all that twitter is, that's like saying all this forum is people repeating ad nauseam how much the bills suck. and in an oh so eloquent way to boot. they're both forms of online entertainment (and info exchange) and they are not 'completely different.' reading a newspaper and taking a bath are two completely different things. an oven and an elbow are two completely different things... i guess you need to read about what other people you don't even know personally think about the bills every minute of the day (it's ok, i do too).

Matt Roth wants out of Cleveland
uncle flap replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
fine. he's a good agent, but i'm not a fan of his smarmy-ness, and i'd rather he stuck behind the scenes like every other agent in the league. -
Matt Roth wants out of Cleveland
uncle flap replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
who wouldn't? but seriously, just based on reading that article alone, this guy appears to have serious attitude problems AND drew rosenhaus is his agent. if this was madden, i'd pick him up but i don't seem him fitting in the new culture gailey is installing here. -
good post. i too think that coaching is going to be the most crucial component to the bills success, especially when one considers the numerous coaching blunders over the past few years. that said, it sure is going to be tough for gailey and edwards to succeed with the lack of proven talent, but i can't complain about anything they've said or done so far and i am optimistic about our chances to make some (positive) noise this year.
-
yes. i wish him the best but there's a low ceiling with this guy

exactly. and for all the 'upside' brohm supposedly has, when is it going to show up? at least trent has had some minor success despite terrible coaching and play calling. brohm hasn't been able to get on the field at all in his career except in the case of an emergency for one of the worst teams playing out a season that was over before it began. and brohm didn't look good at all in those minicamp videos. and he obviously didnt light it up in green bay's camps either. so this is the guy everyone is rooting for? i was optimistic when we signed him, but since then brohm has done nothing for me to get excited about. i hope i'm wrong and brohm turns out to be the next jim kelly, but realistically i think gailey knows (despite his assertions to the contrary) that it's going to be trent backed up by fitz, and brown taking it all in on the sidelines.
-
After watching those minicamp videos and remembering last yrs Atlanta game I remain unimpressed with brohm and think it's too risky to stash bad bad Levi brown on the PS.

What a pathetic attempt by Mr douche-ette to gain some publicity. His actions were stupid and his defense is stupider. Like I wrote in another thread, voting to make a statement is u.derstandable, but douche-ette can't even explain his statement adequately and IMO its not a worthwhile statement to make.

my guess as to why this process is so drawn out is because the nfl wants to limit the impact of negative news surrounding an up and coming player who will likely sell lots of jerseys and tickets throughout his career, as well as limiting the negative news about the nfl in general. cushing's suspension would have been a much bigger deal if it was announced midseason and imposed immediately. the nfl seems to hope (and they're probably right) that no one will be talking about this in a week, and by the time the season rolls around, there will be many more hotter topics of discussion. and your last point is a good one- all the more reason to impose suspensions immediately. i'm all for the appeal process, and the idea of "innocent until proven guilty," but in this scenario - which effects employees of a company, not the general public, the only valid defense would be some type of lab error. there is a zero tolerance policy- it doesn't matter if a player takes a banned substance knowingly or not. how can an appeal last more than the time it takes to retest, if in fact there was or might have been a lab error? i realize the nfl's punishments are strict and that cushing has been ultimately been suspended, but there is still something very wrong with this process.
-
wow. so how does this make any sense? anyway, the only reasons i can think of why cushing would still be eligible for, and then win the DROY are: 1. the voters decided that since the failed test was before/at the beginning of the season, and cushing passed subsequent tests throughout the season, that he was clean during the season 2. the voters are making a statement in order to pressure the nfl to change their handling of these matters ("oh, you don't want us to give a "cheater" an award? then you should've suspended him earlier- or at least told us before the first vote...screw you") personally, i'd be torn between these two options. i'm as big a homer there is but strictly based on on-field performance, i'd give my vote to cushing over byrd. but in the light of cushing's suspension, i could not in good conscience vote for him, unless there was some coordinated effort by the voters to make some sort of statement (and if that is the case in reality - the statement isn't clear to me, so nice job guys). however, as has been brought up in a number of other posts- who cares? i could maybe guess a few of the winners of the past few years, but really the only reason anyone is paying attention to this award is because a known cheater won it. and maybe cushing technically wasn't cheating during the majority of the season, he still cheated and that is enough reason for me, if i were voting, to vote for someone else.

Who is our front 4 when we are in the NICKEL?
uncle flap replied to RealityCheck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
of course we'll have to wait and see but with all the linebackers we have compared to the number of big d linemen, i bet we'll see a lot of 3-3-5 and 2-4-5 formations with a variety of blitzes, so even if one or two of the lbs are on the line, they aren't necessarily going to be pass rushing. i'm banking on the bills using a lot of disguised blitzes to keep the opposing offenses on their toes, unlike the lame tampa 2 we've grown accustomed to. EDIT: i forgot to answer the ? d. edwards. t. troup k.williams m.stroud with carrington spelling whoever -
Hittin the nail on the head here ↑ Obviously, either brown or gaither would be an upgrade to our line, but i've recently come to realize it isn't worth mortgaging the future for one of these guys. The above scenario makes sense. I'd be ecstatic if we got brown on the cheap to allow some time for wang et al to develop. however, whether or not we bring in an automatic starter at LT, one player is not going to make or break this team, even at such a crucial position. no matter how you feel about the rest of the line, rest of the offense, and/or rest of the team; the fact is we are either going to be good enough to overcome a lack of a stud LT, or we will have other problems that having a stud LT isn't going to solve.

After 5 seconds of video from the first mini camp
uncle flap replied to Russ 'Em's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
just sayin...there were also two picks thrown in that video that seemed to be on Brohm more than on the receivers but it is hard to judge anything in that context -
Yes Moran is a wannabe of sorts and certainly isn't going to "break" any stories. I think the only reason I follow him on twitter is for "re-reporting" of things I might've otherwise missed. I just posted that FWIW...guess i shld've included a disclaimer... or not since you two illuminated everyone anyway I'm also skeptical of him actually emailing schefter, since typically when you mention someone on twitter, you refer to them by their twitter screenname, ie "Spoke to @adam_schefter via email about..." Of course, when you do that, that person is automatically alerted that their name has been mentioned. I doubt schefter or any of his associates are searching for tweets mentioning "adam schefter" or "schefter." What I'm getting at is Moran probably did not use schefter's screenname so as not to call attention to his lie, if he is indeed lying. however unlikely it may be that we get gaither today or soon, i'm really pulling for it. I know that gaither not being at practice fuels the speculation, but so does the off-season in general where nfl writers and bloggers are going to manipulate any of the little info they can to keep their names in your mouth and stories on your screen.
-
especially when that link claims the bills and ravens have agreed in "principal." also, all that i see on shefter's twitter is that the deal is not done per the terms speculated. and then there's this: http://twitter.com/PatrickMoranBSD/status/13623947268

Beerball brought up the point...
uncle flap replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed. i'm not here to say maybin will definitely succeed, but he's a bill and i'm going to root for him. as it's often said about donte, it's not maybin's fault he was picked where he was - or that he was picked by us at all. i see a lot of misdirected hostility on this board. -
i don't know if you missed anyone particularly "good" but there's also: @jetson_elroy (nic harris) @levibrown12 @nicholasmendola @patrickmoranbsd @ka_mitchell55 @gwilson37 @steviejohnson13

I was being sarcastic and exaggerating to prove a point. There is all this discrimination against smokers - not singling you out bbills17- but that was in reply to posts like smokers should have no rights, and smokers are less intelligent than non smokers, etc. Are there honestly people "blowing smoke in [your] face?" If there are, I feel bad since I wouldn't like that either. But what I was getting at is that at the Ralph there are designated areas for smoking which are easily avoidable, so I don't see what the fuss is all about. I won't debate whether or not smoking is disgusting and how unhealthy it is for everyone around, but this thread has seemed to evolve into such an argument. What I think a lot of you who are in favor of banning smoking at the Ralph altogether are forgetting, is that that will only encourage smoking in the stands. At least now, I get the sense most smokers make use of the designated areas, and thus aren't blowing smoke in anyone's face unless they choose to be there. I'm a season ticket holder and though I do occasionally catch a whiff of second hand smoke while in the stands, I don't get angry about it since I'm there to have a good time, and that's not going to ruin it. The on-field product, well, that's another story. Now as far as venting about smokers in general, fine, I hear all of you, but life isn't fair and I guess you can just take solace in the fact that, "OMG I just had to breathe stinky carcinogenic smoke for two seconds, but that smoker will probably die an unpleasant death due to a lifelong habit."
