  1. It looks lighter and faster this year, it's built for penetrating. Hopefully you can decide on a driver before training camp's over. I like the Cover Two--uh, too....
  2. MISSES:OFFENSE ---Ochs, Burns, Neufeld, Goldsberry, Euhus, Shaud Williams, Chris Denney, Jonathan Smith, Jason Thomas, Josh Reed, Jerman MISSES: DEFENSE ---Eric Powell, Mark Word, Matthew Rice, Jason Hall, Lauvale Sape, LaWaylon Brown, Tai Tupai, Wendell Hunter, Mario Haggan, Greg Carothers, Coy Wire, Rob Lee, James Bethea, Matt Bowen MISSES: SPECIAL TEAMS ---Nick Setta PRACTICE SQUADDERS: ---Merz, Matt Morgan, Terrence Pennington, Fred Jackson, Derrick Ming, Keith Ellison, John DiGiorgio, Ryan Neill (LS) SURPRISE KEEPERS ---Cieslak, George Wilson, Martin Nance, Aaron Gibson, Brad Butler I still need to cut 1 player to make a 53 Man Roster. Probably a DT (Jefferson?). I don't have a long snapper either (probably Schneck).
  3. I'll pick George Wilson WR on offense, Kelsay on defense! No, seriously.
  4. You have to go Bucky Brooks or Ford as the biggest waste of a draft spot. I'd expect more of a 2nd Rounder.
  5. Keith Ellison, LB, has signed. His stats are impressive given how little he has played at the strongside LB position (he's also played Safety and QB). He's one of the guys who had to finish his final exams at college before the NFL would let him attend practices, so he missed all of OTA's as well. Count on Ellison to stick around, but perhaps on the Practice Squad.
  6. It doesn't matter. Fairchild has been around Martz, and the players are buying into it: From KFFL: Greg Pogue, of the Daily News Journal, recently interviewed Buffalo Bills QB Kelly Holcomb. He asked Holcomb to comment offensive style of offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild and Holcomb replied: "He's aggressive. I think he is going to be a little bit more run-oriented than Mike Martz was. But we'll have to see. Time will tell. You have to be able to run the ball in Buffalo when the weather gets bad. I think he is more prone to do that. But I also think he is very aggressive. In practice so far, he sure has been. This offense, you can make some plays. He gets the ball down the field. He's not scared to take shots. He wants you to force balls into some holes that sometimes in other years you might not think. But he knows what he is doing. He has been in this offense for a while. And I really enjoy it. I like it so far."
  7. QB: Kelly, Bledsoe, Flutie RB: Thomas, McGahee, Henry WR: Reed, Moulds, Lofton, Price, Evans FB: Gash, Mueller TE: Metzelaars, Riemersma, McKellar OT: Wolford, Ballard, Parker, Fina, Jennings G: Richter, Brown, Davis, Parker C: Hull DE: Smith, Schobel, Hansen, Wiley DT: Washington, Williams, Adams, Wright OLB: Spikes, Bennett, Talley, Paup MLB: Cowart, Fletcher, Spielman, Conlan CB: Clements, , Odomes, Winfield, McGee, T.Smith FS: Kelso, Schulz, Vincent SS: Jones, Milloy, Smith K: Christie P: Moorman, Mohr ST: Tasker, Pike HC: Levy OC: Marchibroda DC: Phillips ST: April Talley over Paup due to longevity, same for Fletcher over Spielman. 58 Players plus 4 coaches.
  8. Best quote of the article: "McNally has called Peters one of the most athletic offensive linemen he has ever coached, putting his athletic ability on a par with Hall of Fame Cincinnati tackle Anthony Munoz." If we get 13 seasons out of Peters like Munoz, if we get 4 touchdowns on tackle eligible plays, if we get 11 consecutive Pro Bowls out of Peters, then he is an Anthony Munoz. But I wouldn't put it past Peters to do so.
  9. Jason Allen is the #5 of which you speak. He'll be playing safety on Sundays. Jack Hunt, Sideeq Shabazz, Yeremiah Bell, Norman LeJeune, Deke Cooper and our very own Travares Tillman won't be giving him too much competition. All free agents or 6th Rounders.
  10. I would agree, but wouldn't the foundation of a house be its offensive line? I mean, I like our Centers and Guards, but I'm not wild about our tackles.
  11. In that picture, Price hasn't actually caught the ball yet. A lot can happen in those last 3 inches. In the NFC East, they have 1. Terrell Owens 2. Andre Carter 3. Broderick Bunkley 4. LeVar Arrington 5. Mike VanDerJagt 6. Adam Archuleta 7. Darren Howard You gotta think that Bunkley and Arrington are a little high. Either that, or Sports illustrated is.
  12. Anyone know if they are available for free at Wegmans? Or Topps?...
  13. I am so glad to see that Posey isn't on your list of starting LB's. I think they move Crowell out there, rewarding him for an impressive job filling in for TKO. Good list.
  14. Thanks. I think Coach of the Year ought to be awarded after the playoffs and balloting ending a few days before Super Bowl Sunday. That way, they could do up a little video on the winner and show it during the pregame hype.
  15. One thing Parrish or Reed will have going for him is speed on the outside (Evans-Price). If you have a burner as your wideout, it can make it a whole lot looser in the slot. Watch for our slot guy to have a good year. In fact, outside speed can make Royal/Everett's receptions go way up. I know Royal isn't used to receiving, and I've seen Everett's pro day video where he can't catch a balloon. But outside speed can create space for our TE, whoever that may be.
  16. Synergism is the only gism Marv will see this year.
  17. I think space-eaters like Phat and Sam are dinosaurs. I think we'll do well with an attacking defense, especially with our linebackers and CB's.
  18. Some tidbits from that 2001 Bears team (I "parroted" phrases from Bears website). ---Shane Matthews at quarterback. They were Preseason 1-3. ---Their #1 WR Marcus Robinson was lost for the season. Their #2 WR Booker stepped up with 1071 yards and 8 touchdowns. ---Fans and media lambasted GM Hatley's "Questionable" selections in that April's draft (including Anthony Thomas), and Hatley left Bears a month later. ---New GM was Jerry Angelo, selected over Tom Modrak. ---Media predicted a finish no better than 5-11. ---Most believed Angelo wanted to see Jauron fail so he could hire his own coach in 2002. Players sided firmly with Jauron. ---In their 2nd game (3rd Week due to 9/11), #1 QB Shane Matthews went out with a hip injury, yet the Bears & Jim Miller overcame a deficit with 17 unanswered points to win. ---Bears beat the next 3 opponents --Atlanta, Arizona, and Cincinnati-- by a combined score of 75-16 with their backup, great defense, special teams, and A-Train (who didn't play regularly until the season's fifth week). ---Chicago trailed 28-9 deep into the third quarter of the next game (SF) and Miller went out with a side injury. Now-backup Matthews comes in and Bears won in OT on an Urlacher forced fumble. --The following week, an ineffective Shane Matthews-led offense trailed Cleveland 21-7 with less than one minute left in the game, and WON--in OT--with great special teams (onside kick and a jump ball in the endzone) and defense (tipped pass). They were 6-2 after a heartbreaker loss to GB. --Bear victories over Tampa, the Vikings, and Detroit were highlighted by great defense (no TD's in 2 of them). Another GB loss made them 9-3. ---They went 4-0 vs Bucs, Skins, Lions and Jax with great runs by A-Train, incredible defense, and some unsung heroes. ---They lost their first playoff game to the Eagles. QB Jim Miller was knocked out of game by Hugh Douglas. ---NFC Coach of the Year Dick Jauron, Offensive Rookie of the Year Anthony Thomas. ---The offense finished 26th Overall; The Defense 15th.
  19. Why are tackles an unofficial statistic?
