  1. I think Whitworth, Colledge, Scott and maybe Spencer will be gone from the OT ranks. I don't think Max Jean-Gilles will be there from OG. One that I think drops to 70 will be the 2nd best Center in the draft, Will Montgomery. He's versatile (can play Guard), A workman, and Nasty.
  2. Klopfenstein or Fasano, Frogger? I'd take Klop. He reminds me of Reimersma. Maybe Marv remembers him.
  3. In Round 3, pick 70, I like (probably in this order): Daryl Tapp, DE Jonathan Scott, OT, Texas Charles Spencer, OG, Pittsburgh Elvis Dumervil, DE, Louisville Abdul Hodge, ILB, Iowa Brandon Marshall WR ("Baby T.O.") Hank Baskett WR 6’2” 224 Fred Matua OG USC mean Mark Setterstrom OG versatile Devin Hester fastest guy in draft, KR/CB Joel Klopfenstein, TE, Colorado
  4. 70 Darryl Tapp, DE, Virginia Tech Sr, 6-1, 268 71 Charles Spencer, OG, Pittsburgh Sr, 6-5, 352 72 Anthony Fasano, TE, Notre Dame Jr, 6-5, 255 73 Joel Klopfenstein, TE, Colorado Sr, 6-6, 245 74 Will Allen, OG, Texas Sr, 6-6, 315 75 Kellen Clemens, QB, Oregon Sr, 6-2, 218 76 Omar Jacobs, QB, Bowling Green Jr, 6-4, 226 77 Elvis Dumervil, DE, Louisville Sr, 5-11, 250 Will Allen is too raw. Charles Spencer (actually a OT) is a mountain of a man with poor technique. Tapp would be awesome at the #70 pick. Guards aren't going off the board, though Max Jean-Gilles will be next, and won't be there at #70.
  5. Go to the Bills website. Watch the video comments that Levy, Jauron, and Modrak make about Whitner and McCargo. Then go watch the videos of the two picks. It's helped stop the bleeding. McCargo's incredible quickness (vital in the defense we'll be playing) can not be taught. McCargo can play in cold weather. Can Bunkley?
  6. Modrak said, they (Kiper) have their boards and we had our board, and ours has to do with our scheme and our needs. I'm comfortable with it, especially after I hear how in depth they knew Bunkley and McCargo. Much more in depth than TSW guys in their basements.
  7. From this OT list, I really like Joe Toledo and Guy Whimper is also a great possibility. Paul McQuistan Rashad Butler Joe Toledo Jahri Evans Derek Morris Guy Whimper Adam Stenavich From the Guards, they are all still there except Davin Joseph. Here are 4 guys who will still be there if Deuce is not (and he probably won't be): Fred Matua USC mean Mark Setterstrom versatile Tony Palmer strong, exp, run Taitusi Lutui quick, raw
  8. By my calculations, we'll have 3 players, 2 defense and 1 offense (probably), by the end of Day 1.
  9. Watch This. After the commercial, you'll see McCargo.
  10. McCargo video (afrter the Hummer commercial) I agree.
  11. I think McCargo would have been there at heir next pick. HOWEVER, he's a prototypical DT for their scheme-- Bunkley without the hype. If this is who they were targeting, fine. I'm going to trust them until I see the whole draft. Ryan O'Callaghan's injury might have him fall, and last night I said that Willie Hall (the MTSU OT) would be there in Round 3. Rashad Butler and Joe Toledo would also be there, I think. All would make very good O-Line guys.
  12. You have 2 teams right behind us that will want Young. Both will be eager to leapfrog over each other. Detroit at 9 has Kitna-McCown. The Falcons at 10 would like our spot with this new shakeup (Williams 1, Bush 2). A movedown from 8 to 10 is a no-brainer.
  13. This is WONDERFUL news. Cards will want Leinart more, but the Lions will be salivating (they have Kitna-McCown) so the Bills could allow the Cards to trade up and steal Leinart. For a drop from #8 to #9, we'd get a late 3rd or early 4th, and we's have our choice of Ngata Bunkley.
  14. Now the Jets, who covet Bush, will trade up get the successor to Martin.
  15. I HOPE Modrak does most of the picks! In that case, if history serves, It'll be: 1. DT Bunkley (reminding Modrak of Corey Simon and Florida State DT's) 2. OT O'Callaghan (reminding Modrak of John Welbourn OL California) 3A. OT Trueblood (reminding Modrak of Doug Brzezinski (OL), Boston College) 3B. WR Hank Baskett (reminding Modrak of when he drafted Pinkston) 4. DB Brett Bell (Wisconsin DB hearkening Levy back to Nate Odomes) 5. (Trade for a 4th Rounder Next Year) 5. Matt Bernstein FB, hearkening Levy back to Jamie Mueller 6. lateround steal DE like Leon Seals: Clayton Farrell 7 WR or TE like Troy Smith or McKellar: WR Willie Reid or TE Tyler Ecker 7 TennesseeState OT, Willie Hall or DT Jeff Littlejohn
  16. Can't wait to sit back, drink a pint or two of 5W-40, and watch my research work its magic.
  17. As I just wrote in a separate post, Modrak's first pick was a mobile QB named Donovan. And as I wrote in a separate post, here, the double trade-down can net some great players.
  18. In 1999 Dick Jauron joined the Bears, He picked a skill player in Round 1, and the DT in Round 2. They picked a QB first, DT second, WR third. Five defensive players and 3 Offense were taken. He picked a skill player in Round 1, and the DT in Round 2. No early-round defensive backfield. 12 12 Cade McNown Bears QB UCLA 17 48 Russell Davis Bears DT North Carolina 17 78 Marty Booker Bears WR N.E. Louisiana 11 106 Warrick Holdman Bears LB Texas A&M 10 143 Jerry Wisne Bears G Notre Dame 11 144 Khari Samuel Bears LB Massachusetts 14 147 Jerry Azumah Bears DB New Hampshire 15 184 Rashard Cook Bears DB USC In 1978 when Marv Levy went to the Kansas City Chiefs, they picked DE first, DE second, LB third, LB fourth. The first 4 picks were defense, followed by QB and 3 straight WR's. Three players came from Tennessee State--Bennie Anderson's alma mater (also Avion Black, Richard Dent, and an OT this year, Willie Hall). No early-round defensive backfield. The first DE not named Mario Williams would be either Kamerion Wimbley or Manny Lawson, both would be Round 1 trade-downs. 2 2 Art Still Chiefs DE Kentucky 2 1 29 Sylvester Hicks Chiefs DE Tennessee State 2 58 Gary Spani Chiefs LB Kansas State 1 85 Danny Johnson Chiefs LB Tennessee State 20 104 Pete Woods Chiefs QB Missouri 2 112 Jerrold McRae Chiefs WR Tennessee State 24 134 Robert Woods Chiefs WR Grambling 18 184 Bill Kellar Chiefs WR Stanford 1 195 John Henry White Chiefs RB Louisiana Tech In 1987, Marv's first draft with the Bills, they picked 8th. Again the "draft the same position in successive rounds". This time It was LB, DB, DB, LB before picking Jamie Mueller on the Offense. Nate Odomes was that year's Wisconsin DB; this year's is Brett Bell, probably a 4th Rounder. Shane Conlan worked out well for Levy; Tamba Hali is this year's Top-Ranked Penn St. player. His stock is falling, and may be there in upper Round 3. 8 8 Shane Conlan Bills LB Penn State 1 29 Nate Odomes Bills DB Wisconsin 5 33 Roland Mitchell Bills DB Texas Tech 4 60 David Brandon Bills LB Memphis State 22 78 Jamie Mueller Bills RB Benedictine 25 109 Leon Seals Bills DE Jackson State 3 171 Kerry Porter Bills RB Washington State 14 209 Bruce Mesner Bills DT Maryland 4 227 Keith McKeller Bills TE Jacksonville State In 1999, with the Eagles, Tom Modrak as Head of Football Operations with Andy Reid, selected QB, LB, OL, OL. You all know the mobile Vince Young has been compared to Modrak's first pick. Note the string of 3 O-Linemen in his first draft. Also Note the Boston College lineman in Round 3. This year's BC O-Lineman is Jeremy Trueblood, OT who may be there in Round 3. Modrak's Cal lineman this year is Ryan O'Callaghan, who could go in Round 2. The other interesting move was trading a 5th to Detroit for a 4th Rounder the following year. He traded that 4th for a 3rd the following year. Modrak took a 6th round FB named Cecil Martin from Wisconsin, who played for 4 years. This year's late-round Fullbacks are Matt Bernstein and Lawrence Vickers. In 2000, Tom's first pick was #6, DT 1 Corey Simon (DT), Florida State. This year's Corey Simon is Broderick Bunkley. Corey was 6-2, 293. Broderick is 6'2", 306. In Round 2 Modrak took Todd Pinkston (WR), who played great for them for 5 years. Pinkston was a tall receiver like this year's Martin Nance, Damarius Bilbo, Devin Aromashodu, or Hank Baskett. Later-round or UDFA huge WR's include John Madsen, Sean Coffey, Nichiren Flowers, Drouzon Quillen, or D.J. Smith. 1 Donovan McNabb (QB), Syracuse, 2 2 Barry Gardner (LB), Northwestern, 35 2b Bobby Williams (OL), Arkansas, 61 3 Doug Brzezinski (OL), Boston College, 64 4a John Welbourn (OL), California, 97-- 4b Damon Moore (DB), Ohio State , 128compensation pick 4c Orlando Brown (WR), North Carolina, 130 6b Troy Smith (WR), East Carolina , 201 from Denver Happy Draft Day, everybody! 19. It's probably a good thing. The Jets would have either taken Brick or a QB. By not taking either, more trade partners have 2 players, not one, to trade up for.
  20. Good post Cheez! And welcome to the Wall! Astro
  21. This year the Bills could pull off a never-before: The drafting of the top pick at 5 positions. And you'd have thought they'd had a good draft. 1--Haloti Ngata, DT or Davis, Vernon, TE or Michael Huff, S 2--Max Jean-Gilles OG 3- 3- 4--Matt Bernstein FB 5- 6- 7--Jon Torp P 7-Connor Hughes K However, by trading down, their draft might look even better, and get the #2-#4 man at 8 positions: 1-Winston Justice OT, #2 rated (or Bunkley DT #2) 2-Davin Joseph OG #2 rated 2-Claude Wroten DT, #4 rated (or Colledge OT, #4, or Darnell Bing S #4 ) 3-Will Montgomery OC, #2 rated 3-Kai Parham, ILB, #4 rated 4- 5-Lawrence Vickers, FB, #2 rated 5- 6- 7-Ryan Plackemeier P #2 rated 7-Jon Scifres K #2 rated
  22. Here is a very up to date "draft stock" chart, showing rising and falling players. This is where I selected players at each pick. Draft Stock Chart
  23. Watch Ngata and then Bunkley. I think Ngata was more disruptive and harder to double-team, although Bunkley's sack of Marcus Vick at 1:10 into the video is great.
