  1. Scenario 3: Ravens want a Safety in Round 1, and Huff's their man. At #13 (1150 points), the Ravens know Huff will be long gone by their pick. They offer Green Bay their 13 and next year's first-rounder to grab Huff. 49'ers need a LB, S, WR more than a QB or DE. They select the guy who they thought GBay would pick--AJ Hawk. The Raiders, whose value board was Michael Huff, Vernon Davis, Vince Young, Jay Cutler, and Haloti Ngata, pick DT. 1. Texans-----------------Bush 2. Saints------------------Leinart 3. Titans------------------Young 5. Ravens (from GBay)--Huff 6. 49'ers-------------------AJ Hawk 7. Oakland Raiders-------Ngata or Bunkley or Cutler 8. Bills---------------------DT or Mario Williams or D'Brickashaw Ferguson
  2. The trade-up scenarios will be the ones that allow one of these guys to fall to us. Scenario 1: Panthers at 27 trade with the Jets to take AJ Hawk one pick before Green Bay, because the Panthers lost Will Witherspoon in free agency and haven't replaced him. This causes Green Bay to pick Cornerback Jimmy Williams. Ahmad Carroll isn't their idea of a top-flight CB--Williams is. The 49'ers take Huff, as their safeties are worse than ours (Mike Adams and Keith Lewis). Al Davis takes Vince Young, and the Bills have a choice of Mario or D'Brick. Scenario 2: Denver wants a Shannon Sharpe-like tight end--Vernon Davis. So it packages both of its 1st Rounders (15 and 22, value=1830 points) and trades them to the Jets for #4 (1800 points). Denver takes Vernon Davis at 4, Packers get AJ Hawk at 5, SF gets Huff at 6, Oakland gets Young, and the Bills have a choice of Mario or D'Brick.
  3. ...the Less It Matters. If our choice at #8 is 7 Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland Jr, 6-3, 250 8 Michael Huff, S, Texas Sr, 6-1, 205 9 Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon Jr, 6-5, 338 10 Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt Sr, 6-4, 225 11 Winston Justice, OT, USC Jr, 6-6, 300 12 Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida St. Sr, 6-3, 308 13 Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech Sr, 6-3, 205 or even a trade down for more picks, that's a wonderful decision to have to make. Any of these players are going to help this football team for different reasons. It's fun to project how each would play out, and I while I would love to be in the Bills War Room, I wouldn't want to make the decision--but I still think my Dad was right. The Harder a Decision Is...the Less It Matters.
  4. Love the Marshall pick--would even take him a round earlier. His nickname's becoming Baby T.O. (as if TO isn't a baby...) because of his size and body type. Of all the RB's we could realistically get in the draft to back up Willis, Addai is the one. I don't mind using a 2nd on him as a very good OG is available at the 3A pick (Spencer, Allen, possibly Tatui whose stock is falling of late). I also like the Daryn Colledge pick. I think he'll be the value OT pick of the draft, one who will realize his huge potential sooner than later. I like the local pick Zemaitis. I wish I knew more about the Safety from Syracuse. Strong Work! Astro
  5. Bills-Bengals Highlights We wouldn't have highlights like these. It was a game that made me proud to be a Bills fan.
  6. Somebody will have to convince me that Davin Joseph has the work ethic to be a consistent player. Does he take plays off? Would we get the Davin Joseph of 2004 or the Davin Joseph of 2005? Good point on Mangold, although he'll be better than Fowler. Lutui will probably go in the late 2nd Round. Astro
  7. Thanks. Will change Lutui. And, yes. I know all of these players personally.
  8. I'm listing the 6 players in each round I'd most love on my team. They would fit well in our scheme, are character guys, and would be great picks at that point in the draft. I've left off unrealistic picks. I would like your comments/ substitutions/ round switches/deletions. --Astro Round 1 ---TE Vernon Davis, ---OT D'Brick, Justice, ---OC Mangold, ---DT Bunkley, ---S Huff Round 2 ---OT Daryn Colledge, Whitworth, Jon Scott, ---DE Darryl Tapp, ---DT Jesse Mahelona ---S Darnell Bing Round 3a ---OG Fred Matua ---DT Jonathan Lewis, Steve Fifita ---CB Devin Hester ---S Pat Watkins, ---WR Hank Baskett Round 3b ---DE Elvis Dumervil ---OG Deuce Latui, Mark Setterstrom ---OT Willie Hall, Guy Whimper ---WR Brandon Marshall Round 4 ---DT Barry Cofield ---OT Rashad Butler ---TE Joe Klopfenstein ---WR Devin Aromashodu, Martin Nance ---RB Mike Bell Round 5 ---RB Cedric Humes ---FB Matt Bernstein ---OT Jahri Evans ---OG Rob Sims ---OC Pat Ross ---CB Levonne Rowan Round 6 ---QB Paul Pinegar ---DT Tommy Jackson ---S Dwayne Slay ---RB Wendell Mathis ---OT Adam Stenavich ---OC Chris Chester Round 7 ---WR Ashlan Davis, Delanie Walker ---TE Anthony Mix ---DT Jeff Littlejohn ---CB Anthony Madison, Clayton Farrell
  9. You could actually trade the 17 down to get Mangold, who is listed as the 27th best player on the board. For that trade down, you'd get a high 3rd Rounder--Center Mangold (#1 Center) plus Safety Bullocks (#5 Safety), bigger and almost as fast as Huff. 27. Mangold C 42. MARCUS MCNEILL (OT) - AUBURN 48. CHARLES SPENCER (OG) - PITTSBURGH 54. JOHN McCARGO (DT) NORTH CAROLINA ST. 70. ANTHOINY FASANO (TE) NOTRE DAME 72. S Daniel Bullocks ~ Nebraska 73. FRED MATUA (OG)- USC
  10. You know I agree with you. We're getting a damm good DT in the 2nd, and we're going to take BPA in the first.
  11. I dunno, but I like your mock in your sig line.
  12. Here's that scenario: 17. JIMMY WILLIAMS (S) - VIRGINIA TECH 42. MARCUS MCNEILL (OT) - AUBURN 48. CHARLES SPENCER (OG) - PITTSBURGH 54. JOHN McCARGO (DT) NORTH CAROLINA ST. 70. ANTHOINY FASANO (TE) NOTRE DAME 73. FRED MATUA (OG)- USC
  13. We could call it the Doolittle Draft, because it doolittle to help us.
  14. I trust ML. After reading his book, I am even more convinced that he has an eye for a football player. He also knows how to surround himself with talent in the office. It's a must-read for these next 16 days when everything else you read will be far less sincere and straightforward.
  15. Half the pictures on the Multimedia site are still silhouettes. It looks like homicide. When you launch a new website, guys, there's no excuse not to have pix of last year's players.
  16. Sorry if it was. There are so many Bills are Moving posts that it must have been bumped to an old page.
  17. Excellent Post, Tasker. We forget about the Taskers of the draft, don't we? The fact that Peters was undrafted, that Brady was a 6th rounder, and that Nothing is Real the last month before draft day.
  18. thanks for the inside info, PortlandBillsFan! And welcome to the Stadium Wall. I'm still keeping Haloti as my #1 pick...
  19. Hit the Bills Vision Play button. Wait 20 seconds, and you get a blank white screen. Also look at the Photo of Kevin Thomas to the right (photo not available). Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  20. KFFL is reporting that we are working out a fullback. Jon Goldsberry, Daimon Shelton, and Dan Curran, and perhaps one more will have a good competition in camp.
  21. Posted this elsewhere, but here are the other DT's we should be looking at: WROTEN? Yes, in the 2nd Round. ORIEN HARRIS? Yes, 2nd Round. MAHELONA? Yes, 2nd Round. “He plays every down as though it were his last and leaves everything on the field. He is a very hard worker who is never satisfied with his play and is always striving for continuous improvement.” LEWIS? Yes, 2nd Round. “very durable player who hasn’t missed a single game due to injury in his career.” KYLE WILLIAMS? Yes, 2nd Round. “extremely hard worker with a non-stop motor.” “blue collar player” DVORACEK? No. “share of injury and off the field problems which would be two big concerns of NFL teams that are interested in drafting him. He has had anger problems in the past and was kicked off of the Oklahoma football team two games into the 2004 season because of that problem” WATSON? No. “lost his starting position due to lack of motivation” “Conditioning and motivation seem to be the two factors that could concern scouts.” ROD WRIGHT? No. “questionable work ethic as well as durability issues” McCARGO? Maybe. “academic all-ACC performer for his accomplishments in the classroom.” “Some also question whether he was a product of the players around him, with first round prospects Manny Lawson and Mario Williams as his defensive ends.”
  22. With global warming, I'd be hesitant to be in Los Angeles or Raleigh. I'll stay in my oceanfront property in Rochester.
  23. I like several DT's in a lot of different rounds, and they all are described the same way--exactly the way our coaches described the guy they want with Triplett: A penetrating DT who is disruptive, requires double-teams, and who has some speed. In Round 1, that's Bunkley. But there are several great DT's in the 2nd Round, too. Here's a list of who we might be taking, and who we won't: DVORACEK? No. “share of injury and off the field problems which would be two big concerns of NFL teams that are interested in drafting him. He has had anger problems in the past and was kicked off of the Oklahoma football team two games into the 2004 season because of that problem” WATSON? 24. Looks like AmericanEagle has the Bills, Bengals and Giants, as well as teams in other sports (Minnesota Wild, Daytona 500, Chicago Blackhawks, etc.). ONE of their offices is in LA; others are in Chicago, Boston, NYC and Cleveland.
