I listen to a lot of talk radio during day. Schopp was especially unbearable yesterday. It's one thing to negative and criticize. Cowher does that. But Cowher back it up with insight and ideas. Schopp just complains. He should be pulled immediately, regardless of who takes his place.

If the Bills traded away their only O-line pro bowler, they'd be getting killed in the press. But old Billy Boy is a genius....."rather trade 'em a year early than a year late". He's a great coach, but his failures as a personnel guy are plenty. Most of their 2nd round picks play for someone else or are out of the league. Trading Richard Seymour and Mike Vrabel when he did cost this team serious runs at a championship. And for all the talk of their dominance...it's in our division only. They haven't won anything for 10 years. This move made NO sense to me and I hope Dareus ragdolls Mankins replacement this year and lightly touches Brady a few times (because that's all you can do)

This is what we Bills fans do. We'll justify just about anything to hang on to a sliver of hope. In a way pathetic. In a way admirable. Kelly's first 2 years were lost due to some really bad defenses and lack of overall talent. But you could see he was special. I remember him throwing a 50 yard pass against a strong wind down the right sideline for a TD. In that moment everyone was just speechless for a second, then wild the next. I'm not sure EJ has the ability to surprise and perform at that level. I'm a firm believer that great shows up great. Kelly was awesome from the get-go, even though team stats may say otherwise. EJ hasn't surprised me yet. I take it back...when he ran out of bounds on Saturday 5 yards behind the LOS, I was surprised he didn't throw it away. These two QBs will never be compared to each other anywhere other than this board. Ever.

We don't have so much a QB problem as an O-line problem.

You do not need to resolve the debate about the O-line to begin the criticism of EJ. I saw poorly placed throws against th Bucs. I saw him run out of bounds and take a loss where most NFL QBs know to just pitch it to the 1st row on your way out. There are things QBs can do to hlp his O-line out as well. I just haven't seen much from EJ. Can we hold out hope? Sure. Can we justify his failures? I guess. But I think JW put it best when he said 'the only thing consistent about EJ is his inconsistency' (I'm not going for a blue book cite there). I think we can agree that it's hard to be a Buffalo sports fan. -

Here I'll disagree with you. I see an occasional quick read and he is all over the place with accuracy. But hoping for his confidence to suddenly appear in games based on what happens seems unlikely. I've seen so may QBs look confident against us, including backups, but I just don't see it with ANY of our QBs. I'm actually surprised when a good passing play happens. On a good note and regardless of the score, I think the defense looks good to great. -

It's official. Bandit is the smartest dude around here. Well said. Someone said EJ had "slow eyes" and it didn't make sense to me until you watch him play. I don't think this is something you can improve upon. It's not the RAM. It's the motherboard. -

I can't believe there is anyone who still sees promise in this kid. It's amazing the patience and optimism still exists. I guess you see what you want to.... -

Chicago Media- Bills are an Easy Win
JPS replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Folks around here see last year as an injury riddled abberition....and they may be right. Look at the Bears defense the previous 2 years. Add in a couple pass rushers and J Ratliff....they should be at least middle of the pack. They have one heck of an offense.... -

Bills fans are drunkest in NFL
JPS replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not thee reason I rarely go to games anymore, but I don't miss it. -
Promising or not, these rookies haven't played a down in the NFL or been the through the process of an NFL season. I submit the Bills don't even know what they have yet.

Mike Schopp said something today that had me wondering...
JPS replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point on McCown. But I think Cutler is set up pretty well to succeed. He has 3 capable monsters to throw to and the best receiving RB in the NFL. Now the Bears defense:Yeah, last year was bad. But they were almost Bill-like in their injuries (Tillman, Briggs, DJ Williams) and are bringing in Jay Ratliff, Jared Allen, Lamar Houston and Willie Young to prop up the low sack totals last year (31..ouch). 2013 was an aberration. 2 out of the previous 3 years, this was a top 5 defense. And If you had to bring a defense together, I'd rather it be against #3 than #18. I guess I just see more to worry than optimism in game 1. My question in July....who's going to cover Forte? And if he's covered, who has the TE? I'm less sold on our defense, particularly without Kiko. And this is supposed to be the Bills' strength. I just hope Spikes and Rivers are more than I think they are. I also think you'll see the Louisville kid on a reg basis by week 3. -

Well, if you consider that the Bears haven't been below 7 wins in 10 years and sprinkled in a few 10+ wins and the Bills seem to be stuck on 6 wins for a while...yes. I understand the thought. My guess is Vegas agrees and the Bills are 7-10 point underdogs. -

Question the Bills or dare to question the prospects for success in the new season and you're a d-bag. I heard Schopp and wasn't really offended. The Bears offense is crazy good and isn't going to be worse than last year. The Bears O is clearly the most talented unit on the field Sept. 7....and they've done it before. The Bills are the same to me. Questions all over the place. Maybe's all over the place. I see little swing passes to Forte and the inside passing game being a problem. Thanks Promo on that nugget about Schwartz...it at least gives me a little hope. Now....can we borrow Stafford for a week? -

I live in Chicago and the Buffalo game is looked at as a gift. And I know the Bears offense is going to be good. If the Bills defense doesn't play better than last year (with worse players), this game is more likely to be over by half time. I think the Bills' only chance is to run all day and keep Cutler off the field. Believe it when I see it. I have no optimism left. -
I'm sending $15 down to Corey at Upper Deck Sports Bar. Seriously. 906 Hallandale Road, Hallandale, FL 33009.

Just bid $1.01. I think this exercise is silly. We have no idea what they are bidding on. The Bills probably have 4 telephone books worth of financials that will drive the price, not some emotional factor like buying the king sized Reese Cups in the checkout aisle. If the Browns and Jags are any indication (and they are), the price should be around what they sold for. I just wonder if the NFL's stance on a new stadium and Cuomo's statements about the stadium will hold the price down a little. The new owners are buying something that will cost them another few hundred mil at least!

US Patent Office cancels Redskins trademark
JPS replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quick - If someone said the Redskins are staying in your hotel, would you look for native americans or football players? The Redskins don't need the federal registration to sue the pants off anyone who uses their name or logos. Just because they're not on the federal registry does NOT mean the team forfeits their ownership. They still have the same commercial rights they had before and can expect exclusive rights to market Redskins gear or a very successful day in court. -
One Dollar. Golisano. Haha suckers....you all went over!!!

Is fan behavior really worse than it was 20 years ago?
JPS replied to yall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, 20 years ago I was one of those 30 year old drunks and everything seemed fine. Now that I have kids and care what is said around them, it's a completely different evaluation. I don't have the time to do the research, but I can tell you there were certain games (6-3 Cleveland) where drinking was the only logical thing to do. In the glory days, the entertainment was a bit more compelling than finding the craft brew cart. So there's that. -
There are so few threads this time of year worth responding to. This is one of them. DAMN, I just did.

Should the Bills Cut Dareus? - Jerry Sullivan Article
JPS replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus is good with the potential for great. I think the NFL will send their own message to Dareus and that should benefit the Bills if he grows up because of it.
