  1. First off I have slowly come around to Fitzpatrick - yes I really was wishing Cam Newton somehow fell to us at number 3 (but im happy with Dareus). I truly think he will be special in this league. That said, I think Fitz is better than serviceable and has learned Chan's offense and can utilize most of his weapons at RB and WR...however, if he regresses and/or doesnt improve on last years numbers (including wins) and we are stuck drafting in the top 10 again...we most likely will need to address the QB situation in the draft...with that said, id love for Fitz to continue to figure it out and be able to be a stop gap QB for the next 5 years....if he fails and we fail, and we have to address the QB...a quick look at the potential top 10 QB's - I know were getting ahead of ourselves because they still have to play this season and alot can happen, and the Bills still need to play their season and alot can happen... Andrew Luck, Stanford 6'4, 235 - nothing really needs to be said about him, I think he could have potentially hurt himself as the number one pick by not coming out last season...if he has any type of struggles or even if one of the other QBs has an amazing year (or potential future HOF LT emerges), Luck COULD lose out as the number 1...but all signs point to Luck being the number one pick - unless someone like Carolina who just drafted their QB of the future is in the top spot again... Landry Jones, Oklahoma 6'4, 220 - improved in every category in 2010 from his already good 2009 numbers...prototype pocket passer, but with great pocket mobility...has obviously benefited from good offensive lines and continuity at a solid college FB program in the Sooners...seems to have good touch on all passes and great poise and confidence (filled in for injured Sam Bradford and did phenomenol as a freshman)...passing efficieny rating is great, TD numbers are great, and low interception numbers (14 as a fresh, 12 as a soph)...arm strength looks solid side note - mission trip to Haiti, he claims opened his eyes that theres more to life than football, seems really "heady" for a young college QB Matt Barkley, USC 6'2, 220 - similar to Jones, improved in every category in 2010...hasent been able to "light it up" for a full season yet from a yardage standpoint, but has also suffered from a program in serious transition (suspensions, NCAA sanctions and penalties, scholarship restrictions)...and hasent had all of the weapons at his disposal as Jones...certainly has one of the strongest arms in the college game and that has always been his strength, as long as he continues to improve his accuracy and efficiency he could easily push for top QB billing, a lot rides on this year for Barkley - and a average season could force him back to USC for another year Nick Foles, Arizona 6'5, 245 - also continues to improve...left Michigan St 3 years ago for sunny Arizona and an offense that should better suit his styles and comfort...biggest knock on him has been his over tendancy to check down too often, something he continued to do last season, but still looked to take chances, perhaps his check downs are because of lack of true play makers at the skill positions at Zona? He has a strong arm and everything pro scouts look for that translate to the next level. Threw for more yardage last year than in 2009 and completion percentage and rating both rose significantly. Probably wont crack the top 10 but could be someone available middle to late first round if Fitz is the problem but someohow the bills manage to win 8-10 games despite him (which is doubtful) Other Notables: Kirk Cousins, Michigan St 6'3, 205 (won starting gig after Foles bolted for Zona, keeps getting better but probably a 2nd rounder) Ryan Lindley, SD St 6'4, 215 (very pro ready, pro style offense, great TD to INT ratio entire career, and his efficiency, completion percentage, rating and yardages have gone up every year, a strong year this year and he could be in first round discussion)
  2. hes always been rather weak against the run...as far as plugging holes is concerned, many of his tackles were exactly like Poz's tackles...I almost think of him as a slower, older Poz? With that said, we should still sign him, hes better than Torbor and Davis...its so crazy to me that we are OK with those two as starters (and maybe sheppard if he ever comes to play)
  3. no, he was released tonight...but I still dont know if I really want him...i mean, yea hes an upgrade over nothing...but hes not an answer...yea hes "only" 31, but his body has been through hell, especially his head...but I guess it wouldnt be bad to sign him if possible to a cheap contract to contribute and maybe teach something to nelson???
  4. it was 100 percent Drew Rosenhaus....im trying to rememeber who he was sitting with, but im pretty sure it WASENT at the actual draft, I thought it was from an off location...
  5. + 1 for sure he wins "I missss yaa dawwwwwggg" hahaha....pricelesssss
  6. just say noooooo to the Ginger (dalton for those of you who rely on print media)....little red headed people freak me out, say nooo
  7. check out those thigh muscles, good god....like, good god....
  8. First of all, taking anyone in the draft is a big risk, QB, DT, WR, Punter...theres no gaurantees As far as this: "The flaw I find most disturbing is that he has a poor work ethic. That is something not easily smoothed out of a player, especially of a headstrong quarterback, which Newton is. I think of Vince Young when I think of Newton. Young, late of the Tennessee Titans and the second pick in the draft when he came out of the University of Texas. Young is a great talent but virtually uncoachable. He's currently looking for a new team." Who said he has poor worth ethic than buffalo news larry felser? From everything I have heard he is a motivated leader...around week 5 they did a bit on Cam Newton in Auburn on a college gameday show, and had the coaches and players talking about how since he stepped foot on campus he was the unquestioned leader, he was one of them, he was always doing football related things for Auburn...that doesnt sound like someone that has "poor work ethic" like this article is bashing him for... And as far as Felser saying that mockdrafters and analystis get their information from inside sources, sure thats ones part of their information gathering, but they also use their brains and see what teams have actually said, what their needs are, what their own calls on players are to do mock drafts and such... overall, I disagree about it being a "must read"
  9. really? you werent aware that you cant draft a player before he declares for the draft??? you should be working in the bills front office, you would probably fit right in!
  10. not to nitpick, b/c everyone does, but Cannon lasting until round 3????? id wet my pantsss Gurley left college because hes stupid and cant hack classes
  11. I read an artcle in ESPN about David Garrard meeting with Jags team and telling them all how they will all still be working out together as a team/position players if there is a lockout so that they are all ready physically and with the plays/verbage of their system (link to that story at bottom of post)...which I think is a GREAT idea. Any word if there are bills players, either blocks, groups or the whole team who are planning to do this as well? It would obviously depend on peer pressure and great individual leaders, which im not sure the bills roster is loaded with....however, this seems like a great idea, any word if the bills are planning this? Would the Union oppose this plan, seeing in how if a player injures himself while working out, he has to recover on his own (both financially and medically?).... Also, team facilities can still be used if the owners dont officially "lock out" the players correct? It is speculated that a lockout would come down as soon as March 4th, but if that doesnt officially happen, can facilities still be used? http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/21764/garrard-plan-for-lockout-encouraging
  12. all the highlights I can find on Colin K. are him running the ball, and that concerns me, I watched a little Nevada football the past couple years, and thats really all I remember about him too...running.... That said, obviously he can pass, he threw for 10,000 yards....thatssss impressive no matter what...
  13. hahahahhaha, awesome
  14. what young players need to develop? you mean the bad ones? The ones who have zero talent and dont belong on NFL rosters? you are probably one of the ones who is sold on Spiller, Troup and Carrington and Moats, right? Greeeaaattt.....sounds like a strong core for a super bowl run (sarcasm), troup and carrington couldnt even crack the buffalo bills lineup until late in the year, and they didnt exactly light it up, and Moats didnt do a whole lot but showed the most promise out of them all...I realize they are rookies and will grow, but I wouldnt say any of them should be given a roster spot...two years worth of draft picks > current talent-less roster (provided we actually draft good players)
  15. honestly thats probably a best case scenario for the bills, let them add two years worth of college talent to overhaul the currentyl talent LESS roster (give or take MAYBE 5 guys)....as much as Id hate to miss out on the NFL....it would help our lowly bills more than we know...although cheap ralph will probably let the coaches go so he doesnt have to pay them, so good bye Davey W....hopefully alot of owners release their coaches though and no one signs anywhere until there is new CBA in place bottom line, missed season = lots more talent on this bills roster no clue how draft order would be determined....lottery would probably be the only fair way, unless they just keep same draft positions for two straight years (which id doubt)
  16. add a thousand more to that, couldnt agree more....
  17. I would go to Pearl Street Brewery, and I wouldnt eat until after the game and eat there, foods great...and they brew their own beer...get a tower if your man enough In fact I might have just talked myself into going to Pearl Street tonight
  18. this is the EXACT thing nix/gailey said for last years draft, need to draft an "impact player" in the first round...someone who could "contribute right away"...and they drafted Spiller...tell me, what was his impact? im hoping they get that true "impact player" but ill remain pessimistic by nature as a bills fan....saying the right things and doing the right things are two stakly opposing accomplishments
  19. thannnkkk you!! Ive been making that comparison for months now....Cam Newton is a better version of Josh Freeman, and in my opinion is more NFL ready than Freeman was at this stage. And its worked for the Bucs...the Cam Newton haters just simply have not watched him play the QB position at all...and all he has done is win national championships....why only one year in D-1? Not his fault he had to sit behind Mr. Florida Tim Tebow...realized he needed to get outta there to have a chance to shine, had to go JUCO so he didnt miss a year, won a national championship there BY HIMSELF and then comes to Auburn and from all accounts, was the unquestioned leader of that team from his first day on campus...that is impressive, the guys just follow him....not taking him in this years draft will turn out to hurt this team more than all the other blown 1st round draft picks of the past decade combined...
  20. rumor is though, after throwing great at senior bowl and having great workouts (not to mention 4 plus years of tape)...Kaepernick is playing himself into late first round....
  21. bowers is a one year wonder people (see: Aaron Maybin) say NO to bowers the meanest LB of all time is named Ray Lewis, not Dick Butkus
  22. duh...this is what the shoutbox is for
  23. Thomas Howard is average...but an upgrade...id prefer David Harris, or Lawrence Timmons (but see above...I doubt he leaves Pitt) Pouncey in the 2nd round? as if the Steelers let him get past their first round pick, let alone the other 31 teams passing on him The rest of it im fine with...if Fairley is there ya take him, if not, Cammmmm Newwwwtonnnnnnn
  24. why is no one mentioning David Harris from the Jets? He should be priority number 1 (Timmons will stay in Pittsburgh, as he has already said money wasent his motivating factor)...meanwhile the Jets cannot afford to keep Harris and their other 15 UFA....so hes a realistic possibility.. David Harris Any RT, any at all (obviously Clabo would be ideal) Zach Miller would also be ideal And then Draft Cam Newton or Nick Fairley/Marcel Dareus...gotta be one of those 3
  25. who is Andre Reed?
