Biden Vs. Ryan "Game Day Thread" LOL
Rob's House replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That debate was hilarious. Bush owned Gore in that debate without having to say a word. Al was so aggressive he looked like an angry kid trying to pick a fight & Bush would just flash an amused smile that said "is this guy serious?" His reaction blew Gore out. Didn't you predict Obama would bury Romney? -

I only caught the last 20 mins. but I didn't see Ryan getting steam rolled. I don't think either guy did much of consequence. -

I'm at work, so I can't watch, but if Ryan is really getting his ass handed to him by Biden he should hang it up. Biden trying to defend this administrations record is about as laughable as Chan Gaily trying to defend his. This should be an easy game of whack-a-mole for Ryan. -

Most people don't agree with your take on the stimulus. Biden would do well to avoid it like the plague. -
Biden Vs. Ryan "Game Day Thread" LOL

Sad, but funny, what the world has come to. The networks round up a panel of disinterested, uninformed morons who are actually watching these debates trying to decide who they should vote for, and we get a play by play on how the debate is scoring with the morons. It's just funny to me how much effort goes to sway the least informed element, and that these stooges ultimately determine the fate of the rest of us. Maybe that's what's meant by the meek inheriting the earth. -
The joke here is that Romney has been on the outs with the "social" conservatives for not being strong against abortion, yet the Obama crowd is running ads in VA claiming we've never seen someone as "extreme" as Romney on abortion. I guess they're targeting the segment of the female vote that keeps an empty head and full vagina.

Have I Mentioned Recently How Much I Hate Bicyclists?
Rob's House replied to Chef Jim's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm not sure that by walking on a park trail one has assumed a duty to "know the rules" of the cycler. However, as annoying as guys on bikes are, particularly in heavy traffic, if you peddle your spandex covered ass to the woods and stay off my road I'm definitely going to cut you some slack. Sometimes keeping it real goes wrong. I have a pretty big friend who years ago was riding with a skinny kitty who got cut off in traffic. Having a big guy riding shotgun gave this guy a case of testicular inflation, so he followed the car to the driveway, got out, and started walking up to talk ****. Out hop two big bad dudes, either one of which could have whipped both their asses while the other sat back and watched. Luckily for my friend when he said "sorry, thought you were someone else" they were cool enough to let him go, but that could have been a time when keeping it real went terribly, terribly wrong. The moral of the story is, never volunteer to fight someone unless you know what you're up against. Especially on a bike. It's one thing to hop in your car and drive away, quite another to try to outpeddle a vehicle. -
The ONLY reason I'd be cool w/ trading Fred is b/c he's likely only got a year or 2 of good football left in him, it looks like this year's a wash, & I'd like him to see playoffs before the sun sets on him. And it be nice to get a mid-round pick rather than see him wasted on a sorry team for another year.

The Bills will win this week... I guarantee it
Rob's House replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the D shows up this week & holds AZ to 500 total yds. -
I'd be willing to vote D candidate. But I've never seen one that respects economic liberty, separation of powers, individualism, & understands the important of a private free-enterprise economic system, Granted, this is lacking on the R side too, but at least there's some respect, or at least lip service, given these issues; they're typically scoffed at by the left.

People who don't appreciate Flutie deserve the Flutie curse.

I'll never get over that move. One of the dumbest in the history of sports. And I don't care if the team was winning when Johnson stepped of the field. I watched that game and he sucked ass.
-
It's cool if you think that; I just don't see it that way. Baseball teams are built to play a lot of games and are particularly structured for multi-game series. I get how it makes winning the division more important but you can't honestly say it makes winning the wild card more meaningful. And I don't see how winning a single game playoff amounts to them really earning their spot in the playoffs. Plus, if you only have 1 WC team that team probably won more regular season games than one of the division winners and therefore is every bit as deserving of their playoff spot. IMO, every round of baseball playoffs should be best of 7.

Thoughts on the Cassel situation

I agree. When Johnson got hurt it meant the team had a chance. I won't apologize for being happy about it. I'm sure his millions made up for any discomfort he might have experienced. -
Thoughts on the Cassel situation
Rob's House replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eh, it depends on the nature of the injury. I don't want anyone to suffer an excrutiatingly painful injury like Eric Wood(s) or something that could cause long term damage like a Kevin Everett style injury or a concussion, but if a guy like Brady sprains his ankle or breaks his throwing hand, yeah, I'm glad to hear it. Not because I want him to suffer, but b/c it hurts his team & I want his team to lose. You can call it whatever you want. I don't care. I find overzealous moralizing to be annoying anyway. That being said, I think it's loathsome to cheer your own team's injuries, especially rubbing their noses in it, even if you are glad to see the backup come in. -
Not as many since TBS stopped carrying the games. But I hated the best of 5 series when I watched quite a bit and hate the 1 game playoff even more b/c 1. Given the nature of the sport I think it's a very weak indicator of which is the better team, and 2. I think it cheapens the regular season & makes those 162 games far less meaningful. A run at the WC used to be a run at the playoffs. Now it's a run at a glorified coin flip. It makes me not want to follow the sport at all.

When I'm President it will be a jailable offense to ever utter or write the words "quarterback," "driven," & "league" in that particular order. The offense will be a felony count of criminal triteness. -
I wouldn't mind bringing in Singletary next year as DC, but I don't like the idea of firing Wanndstedt mid-season. We just changed back to a 4-3 after two years in a "hybrid" (i.e. cluster!@#$) 3-4. I say play out the season and then make the switch, not because I think he can fix it, but so as not to confuse the players anymore than they already are. Mid-season coaching changes rarely go well, although come to think of it, Perry Fewell was a rare exception to that rule.

I was upset we passed on Wilson, but I'm starting to think he's not all that and a six pack of Schlitz. But like the fella said, he's only 5 games into his career.
-
Gruden would be ideal. He'd bring the passion and enthusiasm I'm not seeing from the current regime. I don't think guys would be moping around defeated on the sidelines with the game still in reach if he were the coach. And he'd be great to bring up a young QB. But I doubt he's coming down from that press box. I was thinking about him, but I don't think he's going anywhere. But it would be nice. The guy knows football.

Is Stephon Gilmore a potential BUST?
Rob's House replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's had a few mistakes here and there, but he's looked very good on a number of plays. I expect once he settles in and gets comfortable he'll be a cornerstone of this defense for years to come - or until he signs his second contract. -
Barring a miracle, Chan won't be back. I know Ralph's age and the uncertainty of the future of the franchise complicates things, but the job will probably be a lot more attractive than it was three years ago. A new coach would start with a lot of talent including a young strong O-line and a dynamic RB, and likely a high pick to get his franchise QB. It's not a bad gig. So who would you guys want? Would you rather go with a veteran HC w/ credentials (supposing they'd sign) like Gruden or Cowher, an up and coming coordinator, a college coach, a retread who didn't get a fair shake, or is there a coach you think might get fired at the end of the year you'd like to scoop up?
