  1. That's the government you're advocating but there's nothing etched in stone stating that's the best way. I think you put too much faith in debate & the vote as a check. Plus, once the legislation is passed & you do get to vote them out the damage is already done & often irreversible. You guys should love the filibuster; it promotes "compromise".
  2. In all seriousness, enabling congress to enact massive legislation on a bare majority vote may be great for the parties, but might not be so great for the country.
  3. Go !@#$ yourself you !@#$ing piece of ****.
  4. No way pal. You're nothing if not consistent. Say it with me: FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!
  5. It wouldn't be overcrowded if the Palestinians would get the hell out.
  6. If I'm not mistaken he's that guy from the PBS show. I wasn't aware that he struck fear into the hearts of Republicans, but it's been a while since I watched his show.
  7. Because I like it.
  8. 1. I don't think a majority of our electorate has the foggiest idea what our fiscal situation is. 2. When you look at the demographic breakdown of the election it's clear a substantial % based their votes on skin tone and genitalia. Depends on what it's being used for, but if I had to speak generally, I like it.
  9. Is the question whether we'd do an NFL cheerleader? Hair grows back, but you'd have that story forever. That's something you could tell your grand kids about.
  10. We need a QB, LB, and WR (don't really need a WR but a top flight wide out to play across from SJ would make our attack nasty). Probably not going to get all 3 game ready this draft. So I say: Rd 1: Best QB available Rd 2: Best LB available Rd 3-7: whatever FA: Pull in Dwayne Bowe a la Mario. He wants out of KC some kinda bad. If they franchise him trade a 4th and work out a long term deal. Championship!
  11. Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with Whaley being our next GM. I was just curious what all the urgency and excitement was all about.
  12. That's why we have a bicameral Federalist system. So that a bare majority can't impose its will on the rest of the society. And I think you'd have to admit it's a bit of a stretch to say election results are evidence of any level of understanding of a fiscal vision.
  13. We've talked about this before. Compromise is just an empty word without proper context. If I want spending cuts and you want tax hikes we may be able to compromise. But if you want tax hikes & I want tax cuts, how do we compromise. You saying instead of raising a tax rate 10% you'll compromise & only raise it 5% you're not compromising at all. I'm giving up my position & you give up nothing.
  14. At this point it doesn't really matter. We already know what T Jackson can do (not much) & his contract is up at the end of the year. He was just an insurance policy in case Fitz went down & Thigpen struggled. He's a game manager on his best day. Resigning him to be our guy next season would make no sense. Do you replace your mediocre QB with another mediocre QB b/c mediocrity is more desirable when you have variety? The right move is to draft a QB to take the reigns, keep Fitz to mentor & b/u next year, and wish T Jackson well.
  15. Again, I'm not sure how you're tying this in to the topic. Are you suggesting people should compromise on the issue of regulating "hate" speech, or are you going off topic?
  16. What's the basis for assuming Whaley will be good?
  17. I wasn't offended, I wasn't sure how your comment related to the issue. I now see you were referring to the guy with the sign in his yard & relating that to throwing a tantrum rather than being persuasive.
  18. Glenn played pretty well against a premier pass rusher. Hairston just got embarrassed.
  19. We could keep the 4-3 & half our D has played in his system.
  20. I'd like to see them run the no huddle w/ Fitz calling the plays at the LOS. 5 games to go & playoffs are out of the picture, why not go for broke. The guy's best asset is his brain, not his arm.
  21. We're nowhere near needing a rebuild. The pieces are there. This team is underachieving. For the past few years it's been a situation where if a couple guys pan out, we get lucky here, and no one gets hurt we should be pretty good. Problem is, a couple of them don't pan out, people get hurt, and the team falls apart. We've got talent and depth. A tweak here or there, and an infusion of confident, take no **** aggression is all this team needs.
