  1. The Raiders did win just a couple of weeks ago at home over a 49ers team built similar (strong defense, sputtering offense that sometimes relys on the running game but doesn't have the QB to carry them). Also, we haven't won in Oakland since 1966 (although I guess that's irrelevant since those were different players and coaches). Dare I say, could this be a trap game for us? We are set on the NE game being the one we have to win to have a shot at the playoffs and we overlook Oakland? I think we win but close: Bills 20-13
  2. I'm no accountant but I think there's a pretty big gap between paying players a few extra million and making all games, food, and beer free.
  3. I think it should depend upon how the game is going. If we are barley doing anything on offense and then down like 10-0 in the 4th quarter we finally kick a field goal then no we should not (we certainly shouldn't if we are getting blown out). But if we are winning by say 2 touchdowns and it adds to our lead in the 4th or something then yes.
  4. To say we were lucky is ridiculous but here's what I will say: We complain about officiating working against us so much that I think it's only fair to respect the fact that we got some favorable officiating today. It looked like we got away with some PI/holdings in the secondary. Most notably the second interception. I didn't see it very clearly but it darn sure look like we mobbed their receiver well before the ball got there causing the ball to bounce up for the pick (can't remember who the WR/defenders were other than Rambo was the one who intercepted the pass). I just thought it was fair to point it out but at the same time calls have gone against us enough that I won't lose sleep over a game where we may have gotten some favorable calls. Go Bills.
  5. I bet my friends back in Buffalo that the Bills would have a losing record by December.
  6. Call me crazy but I still like RGIII and Nick Foles. But if we do go after either one we better upgrade the o-line.
  7. I have to respectfully but strongly disagree with this. If anything I feel like I have seen the exact opposite. With the inaccurate throws that have come his way in his young career I feel like I see him catch passes that many other receivers would have given up on (passes thrown behind him, over-thrown, etc.) I've really liked him and I think of all the rookie receivers he's had the worst passes thrown to him. But I'll admit I haven't watched enough Tampa or Carolina games this year to say that with the utmost confidence.
  8. I don't think it would be a dis on Schwartz but I agree he may see it that way. But also remember after Cowher left the Steelers instead of promoting an experienced Dick LeBeau to HC they hired Mike Tomlin and he's seemed okay with that.
  9. While I would have like to have seen him go for the first down instead of giving up the other thing that gets to me about this play is even if he isn't going to try for the first down why didn't he at least throw the ball away? At least then it would have been 4th and 1 and would have given us a better shot to go for it. Instead when he slid down it took us back to 4th and 4 I believe. I'm thinking the only reason you call a pass play on a 3rd and 1 like that is because your are expecting to go for it if you don't get it on the 3rd down pass play. Losing 3 yards takes that option away. Overall horrible play by Orton.
  10. Aside from the fumble lost in the early part of the game he did great today. If only we had a QB good enough to hit him in stride consistently.
  11. +1 I would need to know that the Patriots beating the Chargers would guarantee us making the playoffs before I even think about rooting for them. And the Chargers have a brutal schedule down the stretch. They will have more chances to lose.
  12. At the risk of sounding really dumb myself I actually agree with that strategy. I've always thought one of the best ways to beat a good QB was to not let him on the field. It worked well for the Giants in SB 25.
  13. Denver fans should thank us. Last time we went to Denver we beat them in 2008 in a game that costed them the AFC West title and a trip to the playoffs. It was during that offseason that they traded Cutler away to the Bears. If they made the playoffs that year they probably would have kept Cutler and a few years later when Peyton was looking for a new team he probably would have seen that they were committed to Cutler as their franchise QB and gone elsewhere. They will practically let us win. Anyone else want to buy that story? Bills 20 Broncos 17
  14. Evening out the WR field a bit with Sammy hurting as well.
  15. I believe the last time we played Peyton Manning was in 2006. @ Indy the year they went on to win the Super bowl and we only lost 17-16 with a defense that wasn't even as good as the one we have now. I'd say they this game is winnable.
  16. I like Fitz but I think this goes to show how far the rules have come in catering to the passing game.
  17. Shades of 2009. I smell another 6-3 game.
  18. I hope Pettine gets a standing ovation when he enters the stadium. In fact, as long as it's not at the expense of the Bills getting in, I've actually been rooting for the Browns to get into the playoffs this year. It would be great for him to say he turned around the Bills defense in one season and then got the lowly Browns into the playoffs in his first year as a HC.
  19. No, not at all, people go to prison for doing it, and well-deserved to. Just because other athletes have done it doesn't make it okay.
  20. He did something awful and worthy of never being able to play again. But it is way too soon to say he's washed up. He had one down year in 2013 but was great in just about every year he's been in the league before that. He's only 27, plenty of good years ahead if someone is willing to give him a second chance.
  21. I think it is way too premature to say he is declining. He's only 27 and he had one down year in 2013. Prior to that I would say he doing pretty darn good. As far as the domestic violence, if he shows he's genuinely grown from it I think someone will give him a shot. I'd be fine with signing him (as long as it's not at the expense of trying to bring in a better quarterback or two).
  22. Can't believe I clicked on this thread thinking it might actually be someone talking about how we can possibly upset Denver
  23. Something to think about when it comes to the Jets: @ Green Bay - only lost 31-24, had a lead and a number of opportunities to win that game @ New England - lost 27-25: missed two point conversion from tie, maybe a blocked field goal from winning home against Pittsburgh - won 20-13 Now in 2 games against Buffalo: home against Buffalo - lost 43-23 neutral field against Buffalo - lost 38-3 after the week we've had, our players snowed in, not able to practice much and the Jets coming off a bye with plenty of practice time I know, this doesn't always mean much. Some times one team matches up well against another particular team and not so well against others but I think it speaks to how far we've come.
  24. 5 years is awfully harsh for an illegal procedure.
