  1. Coming back and finishing strong could mean an entirely different contract for him in free agency. If he missed the rest of the year he might have been looking at as little as one of those $1.7M one year deals due to not finishing either of the last two seasons.........but if he were to come back and continue the level of play he showed early in the season he might get a multi-year deal with 8 figures in guarantees. For a guy who played most of his career for $600K-$4M per season(only getting a bump in Buffalo for 2 years) that would be a big finish for him.
  2. Those also don't work because those are still personally earned results. Winning titles for sports fans is bestowed luck.......nothing more, nothing less.
  3. And I'm not big on bad analogies like that. Unless you are stealing money from said bank it's presumed that you put in the work to earn that money and deserve it. That's not how sports fandom works. Nothing is promised. And you don't earn or create that result. I prefer the classics
  4. And this was the real reason you started this thread..........to p!ss on what you loathe most..........fellow Bills fans. Because you knew that some would still be critical of their underachieving season and the negativity around things like McDermott's stewardship and the handling of Von Miller situation etc.. Opportunity knocked. You disappear when the team is rolling for long stretches and only re-emerge when you see the opportunity to trash the fan base for having expectations. Haven't been a lot of opportunities in the past few years so you have been focused on the chronically disgruntled(err, ungrateful) Sabres fans instead.
  5. Or you could stop making assumptions about the distant future and how rewarding that time might be and ACTUALLY live in the moment. If Josh Allen fails to live up to your presumptions(I will remind you that you once presumed CJ Spiller a future HOF'er 🤣)...........and if Allen's versions of the team never reach or win a Super Bowl...........the point should be that the journey is the reward.
  6. Yeah Simpson is in the discussion of the VERY best RB's of all-time. Thurman is not. He was great........but he wasn't on that level. He is often even an afterthought to Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith to national media discussion from that era.
  7. Yeah you want your OL defending your QB but Dak needs to be more decisive with his "slides". Both of his "slides" that drew flags were more last second side-flops than slides. Not defending Rapp there, these defenders need to learn how to lead with their hands instead of trying to spear people..........but the bigger problem for Dak was that Zach Martin came running in to defend him and I'd bet that's where Martin actually initially injured himself. Offensive lineman aren't expecting to sprint into action. Martin is their best OL and OL leader and now Dak might have lost him for a while and some of that, IMO, is on Dak for creating a contested collision situation in the first place. The second instance was even more egregiously NOT a slide.
  8. They have played well and I've felt all season people have underrated them..........but the Cowboys defense just rolled over last night. I still don't think the Bills have the kind of offensive line that can dominate a good defense that's playing hard. But that is an unreasonable expectation in today's game. Run defense is about effort and technique and the Cowboys abandoned both yesterday. That was as big of a rollover-play-dead as I've seen any semi-respected team do against the Bills since Mike Holmgren's Seattle team in the finale of Wade Phillips' Bills coaching career. That 8 minute drive in the 3rd quarter.........after McCarthy tried for the big play on 3rd and 1 and got Dak sacked.......was an embarrassment of piss-poor effort. I knew the game was over when McCarthy lost patience that early. Multi-score come backs are common in the NFL now........just gotta' be patient and let the sympathetic refs do their job.😉
  9. He's just a 3 star recruit. Like the 60th rated OT in the country(for his class). It's not that rare to see guys that big even in HS football. Daniel Faalele got drafted in the 4th round last year(2022) and played his entire college career at Minnesota at offensive tackle weighing over 400 pounds.
  10. The NFL has gradually allowed more contact in the secondary to slow down offense's and keep games closer and outcomes less certain...........and one aspect of that is that they have backslid on the player safety with regard to hits in and from players in the secondary.......and now they gotta' correct it.
  11. Assuming Brady is kept it shouldn't have to be the same kind of charade with no job gained/kept like the HC interview process because the Bills have minority offensive assistants that can be interviewed and Brady might have new minority assistants in mind. The new guy he just got hired, Mangas, might even be a non-caucasian.
  12. Andy Reid fired Sean McDermott as DC in Philly and replaced him with Juan Castillo(yeah, the O-Line coach).
  13. The 2023 IFA period ended today and Roki Sasaki did not become available to MLB teams. Rumor is Sasaki will be available in the 2024 IFA class and that he will go wherever Yamamoto goes if it's just between the Yankees and Dodgers. Sasaki reportedly idolizes Yamamoto. Lending credence to those rumors.......the Yankees just dropped all of their top prospects in the 2024 IFA class........purportedly to leave $3M in money for Sasaki. The two top prospects in the Yankees class that they were going to sign in January reportedly have gone to the Orioles and Pirates.
  14. I think because only football in the US has a season that runs into winter and plays thru those conditions. The context is other outdoor sports like baseball and golf.
  15. Yeah those appear to be positions of strength. A lot of OT's considered draft-able and a ton of WR's. But I suspect the WR's will go faster than people expect because now everyone knows you need 3-4 very good receiving targets/offensive weapons to expect to win. Teams with a high volume of playmakers are making modestly talented QB's look like guys who you can win a SB with.
  16. There isn't a Green Bay but I came to find out in HS that there was a halfa-horse town called Green Sea around there. Not near the sea and much more brown than green. But Rasul's coverage has very reminiscent of the coverage by the "no-see-ums" in Green Sea.
  17. Yeah if he doesn't get AT LEAST $10M aav over 3 years then the league is saying they think he REALLY sucks. Alan Lazard got 4 years $44M in a deeper free agent class last year and I can't imagine he was seen as a better option than Gabe will be this year. If anything, I think the demand for WR talent has only grown. Offensive numbers may be down but WR have never been bigger difference makers than this season. I don't want Gabe back for anywhere near what he is going to get but they are going to have a hard time filling his role as a WR3-4 type with as good or better of a veteran UFA because there aren't nearly enough to go around.
  18. Well don't forget to do a mea culpa on your Spencer Brown hit post from earlier in the season. That was no better of a take. Brown has gone from "biggest problem on the Bills offense" in your estimation to being maybe the 5th-6th most positively impactful player on the offense behind Allen, Diggs and Dawkins and right up there with Cook and Kincaid.
  19. This is all you need to know about why Gabe will NEVER be a high catch % player..........regardless of how you target him. The man simply has bad hands. I give him a lot of credit for getting to where he's at considering that he might have the hardest hands of any WR in the league. Clapping at the ball is his adjustment to not being able to give the ball a soft landing spot with quiet hands like most receivers can..........but that technique will always lead to a relatively high % of passes going uncaught. It's especially hard to execute in contested catch situations.........which is why he's so hopeless if DB's are physical with him close to the catch point or even if they just disrupt his route a few steps before the ball arrives. As a result his game is go's, posts and comebacks..........can't have passes bouncing off his hands and into traffic on short routes.
  20. I know your take is emotionally fueled by being a single mama's boy but the reality is that nothing good can come of a family member being critical of their grown relative's employer. Only bad. Which, makes it a dumb thing to do. Always. If she got an internet fight out of it.......well she played a stupid game and won stupid prizes.
  21. A sprain is a tear. The Bills said he had a sprained an ankle and that was affecting his play when they put him on IR. Nothing to see here.
  22. I definitely think his recent slip is related to a back injury. It explains the lack of flexibility needed to snap off some of his routes. IMO it was inevitable with all the volume he has been getting in recent years.......and the fact that he's not as adept and not taking big hits like a guy like Hopkins.......that he would reach a point in a season or his career where he was compromised by injury, IMO.
  23. Extremely underrated athlete though. He is going to extend a lot of drives with his legs if he does miss a throw here and there.
