Gabe has always had a good plan to practice........even the retired Brandon Marshall was blown away by how advanced the training that Davis was involved in during the work he did with Davis pre-draft.........so the fact that a veteran like Watkins would be interested in some of that is no more damning of him than it was Marshall. And the notion that Sammy was lazy is incorrect. He was handed the keys to the Bills WR room as a rookie. He was immature and spoiled and got carried away with that autonomy. It's important to remember though..........for as polished as Gabe Davis has been..........last season was the first time in his career that Watkins averaged less receiving yards per game in a season than Davis has the past two years. Davis is an offseason training All Pro but on the field he's been inconsistent and hasn't seized his opportunities in the regular season. He's certainly had his flashes but he's ultimately still averaged just 36 yards per game in his career. No excuses this year. If he fails to turn that reputation into production........many of the same people who can't stand my objective viewpoint on his play will be calling him out for his inability to transfer his training to the field week-in and week-out. Then they will point to his foibles.........like spending 10 hours a day playing video games in the dark.........and yes, his social choices, like being one of a small handful of players who put the Bills 2021 season in jeopardy by refusing to be vaxed.

Yes, McBean was distraught. @GunnerBill didn't like the Allen pick but there were some people who were just beside themselves. McBeane set that stage by basically implying that they were all-in on the 2018 QB class by McD passing on a QB in 2017 and then trading core prime-aged players for picks that summer to get ammo for the 2018 draft. It was the most prolonged build-up to a QB selection in Bills history so there were some people ready to emote by the time draft day arrived.
-
The context of your astonishment is that nobody on TSW had less optimism than you about the Josh Allen draft selection. You were REALLY upset about that pick. I think we are all surprised.........not even the biggest Josh Allen fan saw him turning into a GREAT running QB in addition to his arm talent...........but the people who hated the choice to select Allen gotta' be questioning their reality.

Yeah in terms of geographic TV markets I know that Buffalo is actually quite large..........because it includes Ontario and there isn't another NFL team as close to Buffalo as Pittsburgh is to Cleveland, for example. Southern Ontario has long been Bills country but It's important to extend that. That's going to take a long, illustrious career from Josh Allen in Buffalo and good stewardship from ownership, most likely.

New York Yankees 2022....Aaron Judge sets AL record with HR #62
BADOLBILZ replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in Off the Wall
Had a slow start but has been playing great for the last month and a half. Leading league in stolen bases, hitting for power, playing excellent defense. Had a walk-off HR to clinch a playoff spot (league has a first half of season winner). His average is quickly moving up. -

Nice work by bullpen to defeat Red Sox 7-6........Donaldson starting to come around recently.........Aaron Hicks has almost as many extra base hits last 3 games as he had in the prior 78 or so. 3 Yankees prospects to play in the "Future's Game" at Dodger Stadium July 16: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34207275/new-york-mets-francisco-alvarez-new-york-yankees-anthony-volpe-headline-rosters-futures-game Ken Waldichuk (AAA) Anthony Volpe (AA) Jasson Dominguez (who is still in low A Tampa) -
Green Bay would also not have an NFL team........smaller market than Buffalo. And probably Pittsburgh as well. Pittsburgh is not a city often considered threatened because the Steelers are iconic due to their SB history. But without that prestige........they are the Pirates........who can barely exist financially in MLB despite maybe the best stadium to watch a game from in the league. It's important for the Bills to take advantage of this Josh Allen era to cement a football legacy like GB and Pittsburgh.........as a city people can't imagine without pro football. A town that has bandwagon fans everywhere. They've already manage to sneak thru a massive amount of public funding for a stadium that never gets thru with Kyle Orton at QB so they are off to a good start.

You don't get it because you were a fair weather Broncos fan not that long ago.......it's very different here in WNY.........this is the way a lot of Bills fans have always been. It's why Adam Schefter called Bills fans a "mafia" when they were illogically attacking anyone who criticized the ridiculous behavior of Stevie Johnson after he single handedly blew a game against Pittsburgh with multiple drops and then blamed......God. There isn't the broad and friendly sense of humor about a largely moribund franchise that some similarly championship deficient organizations have.......like the Cubs prior to 2016, for instance. We joke amongst ourselves but a large % of Bills fans are HIGHLY defensive about any perceived negative press going national. It's one thing to not agree with Bills fans not being better sports..........but to not get it? That's the first sign that you ain't from around here.

This is so true. I was always perplexed why he compromised his expertise by constantly picking his Dolphins over the Bills during the SB runs...........but back in the 80's and 90's guys like him and Jimmy the Greek were mostly just sketchy characters to add color to the show rather than trusted sources for gambling info.

Yes, that's exactly the way you want to feel about it. My perspective is much simpler........you feel before you think. Your screen name reflects a hilarious insecurity about your emotion-first nature. I picture you defending that zombie Jauron fervently for 2 and a half years on BBMB and then.........
-
You can sum up the difference between your perspective and mine by the fact that the lowest point of my Bills fandom was when they HIRED Dick Jauron. I knew EXACTLY what was coming...........I didn't need to see him bottom out in his Bills gear to realize there would be no hope at all until he was gone. Even if he wasn't tragically given full control over personnel, the psychological impact of his tenure alone was going to take years for the locker room to overcome. But the end of the Cowboys game was the most bemused I have ever been in the hole that Ralph dug. The height of Jauron's comic genius.

The Bills were not in man defense during 13 seconds. How many times did even the members of the Bills organization explain what happened during the defensive collapse? And your Kelce versus White stats are bogus...........White wasn't on Kelce "most of the time"...........those are just Kelce's game stats not the amount of times White covered Kelce and the catches he had. Nice try to fabricate a fact though. The reason why Mahomes, Kelce and Hill had lesser game stats in the October game was because the front played A LOT better than they did in the divisional round. -In the two playoff losses to KC combined Mahomes was hit behind the LOS just 7 times.............in the October game he was hit 8 times. -In the two playoff losses to KC combined the Bills D forced ZERO turnovers..............in the October game they forced 3..........including an interception from a DL. -In the divisional loss the Bills gave up 183 yards on the ground and the Chiefs had the ball for 9 minutes more than the Bills..............in the October game they gave up just 120 and the clock discrepency was only 5 minutes. I know some fans need to wallow in self pity and being able to blame losses on 1 play or 1 bad call or 1 missing defensive player or 1 curse really services that need to have a focal point..........but the reality is that the difference between the Bills D with Tre in KC in the AFCCG and October 2021 and without him in January 2022 was the play of the players up front. They simply DID NOT impact the game to near the degree they had in that October game in Arrowhead. -
Buffalo Bills’ Jordan Poyer named best safety in NFL
BADOLBILZ replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall
Poyer deserves recognition.........but It is interesting how players in walk years or salary disputes SO OFTEN go from unrecognizable to many pundits..........to being pitched as shining stars. It's been going on since free agency began. @H2o might actually be on to something. -

They didn't need Tre White........they needed a time machine to go back to: A) when the Chiefs were more vulnerable to those defensive tactics (as they had been early in the season.....before the prior 6 dominant offensive showings) B) when the Bills front 7 was making plays like they did in that first contest. There were numerous instances of excellent coverage late in series by the Bills defense in that divisional game that were totally wasted when Mahomes was allowed to scramble for first downs by the ineffective DL. That was the story for the first 3+ quarters........rushing yardage and clock control. The pass defense had actually held Mahomes to about 225 yards passing for the first 59 minutes of the game. -

Yeah the tall-tale about how the Bills "should" have won that game keeps expanding. They very briefly held the lead, but they were largely outplayed. The Bills played very poorly up front on defense, the secondary got worn down as a result and that's why they gave up almost 600 yards of offense to the Chiefs. In a game where the Chiefs ran for 185 yards and possessed the ball for 9 minutes longer than the Bills a CB was the last most likely position on defense to make a difference. Mahomes rushing for 69 yards on just 7 carries was the dagger that kept on giving all night. They dominated the Bills in almost every way statistically. -

You said that Hill was covering Kelce most of the time in the AFCCG............which was false.........I provided the evidence in the form of video of Hill repeatedly burning White. We've reached the point of the thread where people are trying to deny things that happened during the nationally televised broadcast and are readily available on youtube. -

Your admiration for Chandler seems sincere. I don't have any data to disprove that he's the most righteous and toughest man on the internet and I don't care enough to debate you on that one. I root for the IP address. I guess the heart wants what it wants (which is a common theme in this thread). -

Well the clip I posted above disproves that. Hill owned him.........83% completion and rating well over 100 that day.............and that is WITH a huge, wide open drop by Hill after he burned White in press coverage for what should have been another 30 yard completion in the first clip in the video. The one play where Hill takes the short pass in front of White at minute 1:48.....probably the worst looking play of Tre Whites' NFL career. He takes a bad angle, looking like he is running in cement compared to Hill, and gives up the sideline......looking exactly like what happened to the Bills DB's late in the divisional game. Only that time the safety help minimized the gash and saved Tre from being near the top of Hill's all-time career highlight reel. He was truly awful that day...........but as I've said..........any DB was going to struggle with the inability of the Bills front 7 to make plays in either of those games. The biggest difference between the secondary play in the divisional loss versus the AFCCG loss? The fact that the defense had to play 25% more snaps. They totally fell apart AFTER they got gassed, instead of in the first half as they did in the AFCCG. An otherwise modestly improved effort on defense in the divisional round turned into a repeat performance of ineptitude in those last 15 snaps or so. But the Chiefs can make the same argument. Bills got hot late........got back in the game.......briefly held the lead. If they had Mathieu I am sure they think they win that game by a couple scores in regulation. -

Don't give me some "5 drives" bullsh*t. The Chiefs averaged 35.4 points in their last 5 regular season games.......they were tearing defenses up down the stretch.........and then they averaged 36 in the playoffs despite their second half collapse in the AFCCG. Both of those figures would have blown away the league's leading scoring team(31.2)..........and 8 f*cking games isn't some small sample size it's damn near half a regular season. But you are telling me the Chiefs weren't playing very well offensively in the playoffs? GTFOH. They torched the Bills defense without Tre White in January 2022 just like they had with him in the AFCCG in January 2021. I argue with facts and give statistical evidence to back it up..........you guys argue with your hearts. The Chiefs played almost the entire divisional round game without Tyrann Mathieu...........does anyone here say that maybe having an All Pro safety might have helped the Chiefs in that game? Of course not. -

Adding Elam HAS to make the defense better. Between signing the best pass rusher money could buy this offseason........ and having a DL loaded with 4 of their own recent first and second round picks plus several free agents they have paid starting money to in order try to have the deepest DT position in the NFL............and having 6 of their back 7 playing in long term contracts that they signed with the team..........And NOW the 7th member of that back end being a first round pick in Elam..........on paper this ought to be the best defense in team history(relative to the league of that time). They NEED to be awesome or they've made an error investing so heavily into that side of the ball. As I'm sure some of you know by now.........my preference was to add to the offense and try to become the first NFL team to average 38 points per game in a season. If that meant the defense regressing back to middle of the league, as it was in 2020........so be it. They got farther in 2020 than they did in 2021(when they had a top ranked D).
