The Bills/Vikes game was a great showing for lightly represented glove brands like Jordan (Diggs) and Under Armor(Jefferson). About 2/3 of NFL receivers wear the regular Nike brand. Those grabs and the Sutton grab were all pretty much impossible without those sticky mitts. If you've ever worn them they really grab moving objects but are much less tacky on stationary objects.

So you think you're smart? Do you believe the odds are greater that a decently delivered short pass to a kick returning RB with a career yp reception over 9 yards is more likely to be tackled short by a single offset defender or that he totally eludes that tackle and scores a TD there? It's the latter. When you can get an elusive ball carrier in space against a single defender in 2022 that is winning football. You are presuming an absolutely GREAT solo tackle by a defense that gave up well over 400 yards. It perplexes me how nonsensical people can be in the face of facts/numbers. If the argument is that Josh Allen can't be expected to recognize coverage and throw a short pass accurately...........then WTF is the point? Just say the QB can't execute simple football plays and live with the results.

Nyheim Hines: Why did we bother trading for him?
BADOLBILZ replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am a Singletary fan as a runner but if they aren't going to line him up behind the QB.......then you want the quicker option on the field. Cook and Hines are a bit better suited for the finesse running attack they want to employ, IMO. -
Yeah you have to be able to run against that box if you are playing downhill. This RPO style with the RB parallel with the QB and OL not being allowed to get upfield is not ideal for taking advantage of a light box. Call a run or pass........get in the "I" and execute.........let the OL either block for the run or the pass.........not in-between.
-
As I said........the angle isn't messing with my eyes.........I saw it right at the snap in real life and not again since. I watch the defense as if I was the QB at the snap so I have a better understanding and Johnson was left WIDE OPEN by NFL standards. Using stills to illustrate doesn't always work. And "Freaking Duke Johnson" is a career 9.2 yard per reception running back. That is a crazy high number for a RB with that amount of catches. He's been borderline "great" at this stuff. The odds of someone shoe string tackling him for no gain are very, very low.
-
Yes..........in the same way that you and I both knew that they were going to lose that game if they don't score a TD on that drive to stop the avalanche of momentum the Vikings had. So.......more "probably" than "certainly". Freaking Duke Johnson isn't a bum.......he's been one of the best receiving backs in the NFL over the last half decade. The inability to take what's being given is a problem and Allen needs to get past "ain't no freaking way" he is throwing passes to wide open receivers in front of the coverage. We can go on forever about the reasons why Allen has lost any semblance of short game but it isn't because he doesn't have receiving options out of the backfield anymore. Hines and Johnson are much better RB receiving options than Lil' Dummy McKenzie is as an excuse for a slot receiver. The funniest moment of the game was Lil' Dummy trying to cut back his run to the middle of the field with time running out in regulation and the crowd with collective "gasp and NOOOO!" before he thought better of it and went out of bounds.

If our defense left a RB that open in the flat on a short conversion play...........are you expecting that defender to drop that RB for no gain in open space? I think not. Instead we are complaining about a defender not being anywhere near close enough to even contest the throw.
-
That is OPEN in the NFL. Catch ball, get a yard in open space against a single defender. Tom Brady 101. I didn't need to see the replay..........IRT it was obviously the way to convert that 1st down from my excellent vantage point on the Bills sideline side of field. When it's that short of a conversion you have to be willing to look short to long. Josh has developed a Rob Johnson-esque addiction of looking long first even when it's unnecessary.
-
RB was wide open to the left coming out of backfield for the easy conversion. Josh played it like it was 4th and goal.

Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills
BADOLBILZ replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
I actually think there is perhaps a little too much peace and love and acceptance of subpar effort from players to try to build chemistry/culture for a HC who hasn't won a SB............but I don't know for sure if that's the reason they treat him like a substitute teacher for a month or two at midseason every year. But every year they've been competitive they've had this problem. And it's put them on the road in the playoffs every time. When they play more consistently and secure home field advantage for once, that will cease to be a thing. Just like winning a SB ceased the belief that Andy Reid was the biggest playoff choker in NFL history. Opposing fans suddenly saw him as great........even though Reid backed up that SB win by losing a SB as a big favorite and produced an all-time second half choke job in the AFCCG last season. -
Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills
BADOLBILZ replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
You feel that way because you are up in your feelings about it.........but the stat is not "very skewed". 0-4 on the road. 3-0 at home. Things can change..........maybe if Kelly and the Bills get to that 5th SB they win one.........maybe if they win the first one they win all of them......or never return to one. But 0-4 is the scoreboard and you are what your record says you are in the NFL. Wanting that to change is understandable but whining that the scoreboard is wrong is laughable. -
Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills
BADOLBILZ replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, many did.........but I was not one of them. An easy schedule made it LIKELY that they would finish strong and win the division and get one of the top 4 seeds and get a home wildcard game. Of course they were only the 3rd seed because Cinci intentionally tanked their finale to line themselves up with TN in the divisional round...........the midseason swoon was COSTLY. The Bills were never really back in the race for the top 2 seeds after the NE/Tampa failures. Now they are in the trail position again and unfortunately they don't have the pathetic lineup of teams on the tail end that they had last Dec/Jan. The annual malaise needs to end this week. The Chiefs have a very easy schedule. -
Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills
BADOLBILZ replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is no reason the Bills can't win on the road in the playoffs...........but they are 0-4 on the road in the playoffs with McD (0-3 with Allen and he played poorly in 2 of those). Neither the Rams nor the Bucs were the best teams in their conference those years but the difference is that they didn't have a track record of losing on the road like this Bills team has. McVay and, of course, Brady had both reached SB's playing on the road in prior years. -

You are getting carried away with something of little import, IMO. All the great coaches have had a "bit of a dark side". The issue with McDermott is simply that he has a hard time getting his team focused in the dog days of the season. Happens every year. The roster is what it is............it's good but it's good at a great investment and after a lot of trial and error...........ultimately they still go as Josh Allen goes and right now he is playing like a guy whose head is somewhere else. Not seeing the field and making bad decisions. -
Our injuries in the secondary are killing us
BADOLBILZ replied to Cray51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I disagree with the "knock-on effect" aspect but it does stand to reason that a guy making league minimum who was no roster lock in summer is going to be a lesser player than the $13M player he is replacing. I think the coverage issues had a lot more to do with CB1 and both safeties being out at the same time. Elam not so much.........he and Benford aren't significantly different performers at this point. Cousins didn't carve them up over the middle he was heaving prayers and getting them answered. Classic case of a team that's playing peak football being fired up about being a huge underdog and then playing out of their minds. A healthy Edmunds has no bearing on Justin Jefferson putting up 200 yards, IMO. If people aren't pleased with the quality of depth they should be critical of the choice to save roster spots for kick coverage players like Matakevich when you kicker can just boom every kick out of the end zone. The return the Vikings had to midfield basically negated all the seasons gains from kicking short to show off your teamers. -
Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills

You see, I know this is the kind of journalist he is. So this is a yawn for me. Same ol' Wawrow. -
Somebody needs to write the pre-emptive version of this thread for the Browns game so it can be pinned for quick access to deep breath instructions postgame.

On to Minnesota (get this game in the rear view mirror!)
BADOLBILZ replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe they just brought Duke up because they had a spot they didn't need and wanted to reward him with a bigger pay check for being a good soldier on the PS this season. -
Legitimate question but can't get myself to care one way or another right now with another full season on his deal. I'd be inclined to say no at this point, though. Despite not really breaking out yet he was their best DL last season........but it's a short fall to irrelevance for an undersized DT if they get injured. Rousseau will assume that role as the most important DL and he is eligible for extension after next season. I fully expect the Bills to be back drafting a DL in the first 2 rounds again this spring......like it or not it's what they do......and that could be a 3T.

Big difference between winning an October regular season game versus in the playoffs. Very simple..........McD is 0-4 on the road in the playoffs and undefeated at home. That's why you want home field.........they've regularly made more mistakes on the road and the mistakes they have made have gotten magnified on the road. Those 3 games you are talking about aren't nearly of equal import either, obviously...........the SB era Bills dominated the NFC during the regular season.......their only losses in 16 non-conference matchups were a couple meaningless seasonal finale games..........and that included memorable road wins versus outstanding teams SF, Dallas and New Orleans. Of course there is also the fact that Mahomes is 3-2 career versus Allen........KC won the first two matchups.
-
Yeah he had a brother or something that did the same act, right?
-
They should have been the #1 seed last year as well............they had by far the highest point differential in the NFL and that usually means a lot more than it did for the Bills last year. They ended up the #3 seed and weren't reduced to the 4th only because the Bengals didn't want to go to KC so they tanked their finale to line up with TN in the bracket. I understand ramping Tre White up.........but he could still go out and get a concussion or some other type of upper body injury that has zero correlation to the rehab he's done on his knee. It's football as soon as the bubble wrap comes off anything can happen. Would have been nice to have him out there some last week against Garrett Wilson getting ramped up to play Jefferson this week.

But what is your point with the chart? Davis has basically replaced the combination of Sanders and himself from last season. How is Davis' yards per route this year versus that combination? Were the drops and INT% that high? McKenzie has replaced Beasley? How is that working out statistically? The chart itself doesn't change the narrative that Davis has been a disappointment and that McKenzie isn't good. McKenzie has been the final target on 6 important drive killing plays this season. That's a lot for a guy with his measly production. He's been lousy.

Since the season is over, what’s everyone doing on Sunday?
BADOLBILZ replied to eball's topic in Off the Wall
Tailgating. Of course. I understand this post is a little joke for people who don't attend the games but who gives a f#ck what you guys are doing on gameday if you aren't at the stadium anyway? It's about as interesting as you talking about your fantasy teams. It's generally assumed that you just do dumb sh!t like play golf(eball) and maturbate(dablitzkrieg). Is it not?
