Wish they would just sign Klein at lb
BADOLBILZ replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah Eric Wood had to learn to control his competitive nature on the field to manage his health. He had his leg snapped under the weight of a DT that he was unnecessarily trying to win a wrestling match with and also tore his knee up chasing DeMarcus Ware downfield just in hopes of getting a big hit on him when he was clearly of no use to the RB in the play. Fred Taylor was the other player I've talked about who learned how to stay healthy. He and his agent gathered data to identify players who had managed to keep themselves healthy and reached out to many of them and found out how they took care of themselves and he modeled his behavior after them and suddenly he went from a 10 game per year average for his first 4 seasons to 15 game per year over his next 5 seasons. Part of the challenge is learning to keep themselves healthy BEFORE they've done irreversible damage. Hopefully Milano is in that category. -

Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
You would think that for sure. It's obvious that he is no more than a league min type player at this stage........especially at a time in the offseason when young and productive players like Taylor Rapp and Damien Harris are apparently signing 1 year deals for south of $2M. But I thought Phillips was only going to get league min from Beane last offseason and Beane gave him guarantees(including $1.25M still on the books for 2023 in unamortized bonus from that deal). -
Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I assumed Phillips would be brought to camp as the 5th DT or that he would be on a practice squad somewhere next season. The Ravens cut the productive and inspiring Calais Campbell because they felt like he was about to decline..........the Bills brought back Phillips with apparently some guarantees even though he washed out 3 years ago. Clearly different standards. The Ravens know that they are good at filling their interior DL roles.........the Bills don't trust their scouting, clearly. Phillips is(or was) a very talented player but I would not be surprised to see him beat out in camp by a healthier scrub and Beane having to eat some guarantees to cast him adrift. -
Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree that he is what he is.........but at 350# approx his lack of versatility is a matter of want-to not "skill set". This is a guy the Bills should never have to pay above minimum for because they are his only market. He talked his way out of Miami and Arizona couldn't get rid of him fast enough after they realized what they'd gotten into. -
One of the issues with being a team that drafts for need is that defense is the matchup side of the ball..........you can always find areas on defense where it seems like you don't matchup with certain teams. On offense it is easy to rationalize that you don't need matchup winners if you have a great QB. That's what the Bills have been saying without saying it aloud the past two seasons. They gotta' change that..........they do need better talent on offense and it showed in the second half of last season and was a glaring issue in their playoff loss. But some drafts just don't align where the best talent is where you need it. They should go BPA at a premium position early regardless of the side of the ball........OR they should utilize draft capital to trade for proven commodities on offense.

Short term vs Long term rental investment properties

Don't discourage him. This could result in better content than the time he bought goats because he didn't want to mow his lawn. -
Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes Daquan Jones is the same $4M block-upier that he was when Carolina signed him away from TN. Why Beane had to pay him over $7M aav and $10M gtd for that role I don't know. But the standard for DT1T play got very low on TSW with all the fake hype that OBD gave that turd Star Lotulelei to justify paying him $40M+ for 3 seasons. In some places where they expect good DT play Jones might have been a pay cut candidate with his base salary over $6M this season........not an extend candidate. -
Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes he hurt his hamstring running earlier in the season. He hurt his shoulder with a goofy diving lunge at Mac Jones later in the season. But it's easy to get them mixed up because at this stage he is probably always going to be in the process of getting injured. What has never changed is that Phillips IQ drops a good 50 points when he steps on the field. If that weren't the case he'd have been a star. -
Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
That "hustle" was just idiotic. The game was over and there was very little chance that lunge brings down Jones. It was eye-wash.......an attempt to make himself look valiant that backfired. What the guy needs to do is play smart and under control. He is more concerned with winning over the ball watchers. McBeane accept him for what he is.........but last year his market should have been league minimum and that was all they eventually got out of him. At age 31 I doubt the light is going to come on for him but even if it miraculously did.......pay him for that NEXT year........he simply hasn't earned more than league minimum with his performance in recent seasons. -
Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal
BADOLBILZ replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
How does this washed up gas giant keep getting more than minimum deals from Beane? I know fans like him because he plays to the crowd on the field and in social media but the reality is that he can't stay healthy and is a terrible run defender who basically refuses to use his natural size to be stout. I said it last year..........it's fine to sign him to a minimum deal but there isn't much of a market for his services. -

Calais Campbell *update beane said no visit scheduled
BADOLBILZ replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
Campbell could very well be a deadline deal candidate next season. Win-win for him. He gets paid in a market that has otherwise dried up and then ends up in KC or Jax for a stretch run. Of course, maybe his good friend Lamar ends up in Atlanta after all. -
In other news has anyone heard that people thought there were multiple QB's who were better than Josh Allen in that same 2018? Vander Esch started getting injured way back in 2019 and hasn't been the same player that he was as a rookie for chrissakes.........it's not a revelation that Edmunds got paid on an entirely different level in 2023. Now All Pro Roquan Smith went before Tremaine and All Pro's Shaq "Darius" Leonard and Fred Warner went after him in round 2...........all better MLB's than Edmunds. Let's not act like the Bills "nailed" the pick.........in hindsight they truly did not.

Bills have shown interest in Lavonte David.
BADOLBILZ replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's great........being able to beat KC early in the season the past two years should have been part of attaining the #1 seed( if not for the annual mid-season McMalaise). But playoff football is where they lag. The Bills defense hasn't been able to raise their level of play against good QB's when needed in the playoffs..........which appears to be an issue with the system......and the system is built around Tremaine...........and other contenders have been able to adapt better to their opponents. -
What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
BADOLBILZ replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
As good as 2020? Definitely not. Lowest yards per target since 2016. Lower ypr and catch % than we are used to. Look at Julio Jones 2020..........he had a similar 9 game slate to what Hopkins had in 2022.........and he was far more explosive than Hopkins........his 15 ypr, 75% catch rate and 11.3 yards per target blew Hopkins 2022 numbers out of the water. The fall off happened fast for Julio. Remember that Hopkins was suspended for using PED's that he is now being tested much more regularly for. The system is an intentional sham designed to be beaten......if you aren't in the program you get tested a couple times a year and you know almost exactly when that will be and just have to mask it. He blew it. I don't care that he's juicing, lot's of players are. But if he can't take them any longer he could fall off significantly. Not JUST performance but also the ability to stay healthy. And you don't lose all the juice immediately so don't presume that looking good in the same calendar year that he was caught means that he's not impacted by not having them. Often times it's the year after when significant issues prop up. As A-Rod. -
What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
BADOLBILZ replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't think they'd get more than a late 3rd for Oliver in trade due to his 8 figure base salary.........but Hargrave getting $20M+ per year is good for Ed Oliver's trade value. I don't think Denver would part with Jeudy for less than a late #1 value but maybe there is an exception. -
What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
BADOLBILZ replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Which is a very important component of Jeudy's value. He's inexpensive. And there is also the concern that Hopkins is in permanent decline and not just the victim of misfortune the past two seasons. We just witnessed AJ Green and Julio Jones fall down similarly around age 30......assumed they could bounce back because of how great they had been.......and yet they did not. Same concern with OBJ........but, of course, OBJ doesn't require draft pick compensation. Time is on Jeudy's side. -
I call him the bond company stooge but I would never kidnap him. That would be a very Jeff Goldblum move, the height of rudeness. My guess is he might have gotten caught up in the rash of small bank closings. Full service branches being turned into person-less ATM only locations and loan officers being regionalized........and no longer has the type of desk job that allows him to stay on top of all Bills related info all day. And perhaps like a collector who can't keep his collection up to date........he's just lost interest in the process altogether. It's not a coincidence that(just like 26CB) NOBODY seems to know how to reach him. I collected sports cards and records avidly at different points as a kid and when I quit those hobbies I didn't go around to tell all the industry nerds I'd met along the way that I quit. They were really just acquaintances..........which is what you all were to Yoyo.

Myth Busters: The Bills Overpay / Roster Too Many Special Teamers
BADOLBILZ replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but what about the Texans and Jaguars? Gotta' keep up with them. It's funny how we have these myth busters who create these posts that only re-inforce the reality that they are trying to mythologize. -
$11M (after roster bonus) for Dalvin Cook? Austin Ekeler is making $6M and put up 1600+ yards and close to 20 TD's. The Bills are going to be paying Nyheim Hines over $4M PLUS incentives that can take that deal over $5M to be RB3 and people want to add an $11M RB on top of that? Beane can't be that out of touch with RB value.
-
So you wanted to pay $20M for a RT? The Chiefs are rolling the dice that his game will elevate up to LT level........but he is a big step down from the 2020 Orlando Brown they acquired.........who was an actually dominant RT in Baltimore and who had also proven himself at LT that season. I think "grass is just greener on other side" types like you should recognize that the Bills have a RT with a very high ceiling as well.

What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?

Hopefully, if his game elevates like it did for Diggs. -
What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
BADOLBILZ replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jeudy was injured his second season but his 1st and 3rd seasons were quite similar to the start of Diggs career. I think a lot of people misremember what kind of WR Diggs was at Minnesota.........Diggs wasn't considered a top 5 WR there........that happened in Buffalo. And Diggs value was tamped down by having a $15M aav contract............Jeudy has a sub $3M cap hit in 2023.
