  1. Or, he can negotiate with another team if he has permission from the Bills. Not unlikely, I'd say. Its not unusual for teams to give limited permission to negotiate with other teams, so the player can gauge his true market value (i.e., realize just how much crack he has been smoking).
  2. How 'bout dem Cowboys? I could see Jerry smokin' enough crack to offer us Romo and his next year's #1 for Newton. Dallas is ready to blow that thing up, and Jason Garret surely would like his own guy to groom. Tell me Jerruh wouldnt want an "Icon" to sell some tickets. Washington and Snyder/Shanahan are in a similar spot, liking to spend money for "sizzle." I'm sure Cincinnati isnt that stupid, since they would probably take either gabbert or newton.
  3. The topic is about the #1 and #2 "overall" picks, and not "who do you want the Bills to take with the Bills' first 2 picks.
  4. Good point about having newton fall to #3 for trade-down value. But since buddy/gailey are on record (with pre-draft probable b.s.) that they dont trade down, I just dont want to risk that they take him.
  5. Let me say I trust Buddy/Gailey a whole lot more than I did Jauron/anybody. That said, I do not want Cam Newton, and I do not want a corner at #3. I dont want a project at #3. I dont want a luxury pick at #3, and I dont want to gamble on "upside" at #3. Since Buddy/Gailey/(wilson) shocked the hell out of me last year with Spiller, I dont put it past them to do something crazy like A.J. Green if they think its a "value." So for me, I sleep well at night when I dream that Newton and Patrick Peterson are already gone, so I dont have to kill my television, or light up my torch and sharpen my pitchfork.
  6. No. Please god, no. A "shutdown" corner, if he is one, only helps if you have either (1) a good pass rush, and/or (2) a tough run defense which forces teams to actually pass against your shutdown corner. Since the Bills have neither, your shutdown corner will get bored, like the rest of us, watching teams run for 200 yards per game.
  7. Mike Williams was the only one in the past 10-12 years that I wasnt (at least) mildly depressed about. He seemed to be SOLID. I dont need exciting, but I do like solid. Every other year there were a couple, or several, players that I would rather have had at the time. And this is why I want no part of Cam Newton. Give me 2-3 years of SOLID drafts, and then take a flyer if you want. But stop thinking you are smarter than the other 31 teams by drafting the Maybins and Whitners of the world.
  8. I think you've been playing too much Madden, where you can basically coax the computer to make any trade you want. Pat said he's probably gonna retire. Then he said maybe not. But best believe he wants a championship, not another year or two rebuilding. As to winfield, why would he want to come back? Lets get younger, stronger, and better with players on the way up, or at the top.
  9. A big problem, as PTR alluded to above, is that its hard to evaluate borderline guys when they dont play with the starters. If you start Carrington next to Kyle Williams, you learn something. If you start him next to Troup . . . not so much. Same with the linebackers. With a front 3 of McCargo, Troup, and Carrington, all you learn about backup linebackers is how they react when their D-linemen get shoved back into their faces. I'd say mix the backups in for substantial time. But no more then 2 of them on the field at any given time.
  10. not working. help. (never tried before). Downloaded the plugin. even went to the am.football list and clicked on the correct game. I also tried the Redzone Channel link and that one is working fine. Nevermind. After about 10 minutes a "Link 2" appeared which is okay.
  11. Can we, as Americans speaking English, finally pay attention to the words coming out of our mouths? I dont mean to be "that dude" but twice in the first 5 posts in this string, people say "I could care less" or similar. It should be "I COULDN'T care less." Why, you ask? Because the point is that I am already at zero caring. I couldn't possibly care any less than I do at this moment. If I could care less, it means maybe I'm at about 20% caring (for example) and I could possibly go lower, depending on the situation. Many people couldn't care less about this issue. I know that when people say "I could care less" its basically a phrase and people pretty much know what you mean, and that's the main point of communication, but just sayin'.
  12. considering what they have to work with, I am very happy. They get the most out of the players, which is a pre-requisite for moving in the right direction.
  13. M. Pouncey. Would quarterback the O-line for 10 years. Then plug in any mid-round rb (this year or next year) and keep moving with the 3-5 year plan.
  14. No, kids. Anyone who reads PFT regularly (not "skims" but "reads") can tell you its like this: A vested veteran (i dont know if trent is one) who is on the active roster for the first game, has an option, ONE TIME IN HIS CAREER, to take the balance of that year's salary as termination pay if he is cut. This is even if he signs with another team that year. So it is not "guaranteed" in the traditional sense.
  15. I think he means its feudal. As in he wants to start a feud with anyone who disagrees. Or something.
  16. Its a lot of fun to be rational as a fan. When you are a fan of a good team. Or at least a competitive one. Or, at the very least, a respectable one. Just sayin.
  17. Born Buffalo (Children's hospital) 68 Graduated City Honors 85 Moved to NYC then back to Buff, and graduated Buff State 91 Moved to Chicago 4 years, and now San Diego since 95 As said by the other San Diego guy, i will NEVER be a Chargers fan. Nothin against them, but not at all interested. Used to work as a pretzel vendor at Rich Stadium 88-90. Gettin paid to see the game! Sweet.
  18. I never ever ever ever read any links to articles on BuffaloBills.com. I expect them to be slanted, propaganda, fluff pieces. But sometimes the titles seem interesting. Do you guys read them? Are they worth anything? Is there ever anything good there that you havent already seen elsewhere, like here or PFT?
  19. players and coaches would have to pay CANADIAN income tax. If the game is played in Canada, its Canada source income. This also applies to visiting players for their 1/16 salary. This is why so many NBA players dont want to play for Toronto. Canadian tax is HEAVY. (perhaps I am incorrect. Looks like Canadian tax rates are lower than USA rates. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-eng.html. Then it will all depend on the strength of the Canadian dollar. Will players be paid in Canadian dollars?)
  20. Sabres should go back to gold and blue. Not that blue that is so dark its almost black. I understand wanting to sell more jerseys to fake buffalo wannabe gangstas, but please go back to gold and blue. Have some actual identity. For the bills, I say go back to the uniforms of the super bowl teams. I heard Chris Berman say, when they changed to this current garbage, that there were only TWO major sports teams in all of North America that wore red, white and Flag Blue. Bills and Montreal Canadians. For the Canadians to be the only team left sporting USA red white and flag blue really sucks. (my heart is with the throwbacks of the '60s, but I know that's not gonna happen).
  21. singular subject takes singular pronoun. "That guy dropped their wallet." "That guy dropped HIS wallet." Unless that guy dropped a wallet that belonged to several people, there is no "they" who dropped "their" wallet. One guy. Dropped one wallet. Belonging to him. Also, some pronouns that people think of as plural are actually singular, and should follow this rule. Someone. Anyone. Everyone. Each. Either. Neither. These are only talking about one person at a time. "Everyone gave me his payment" Not ". . . their payment." I received it from every ONE of you. Individually. Acting as a he (or she), and not as a they. (Unless we are talking about a siamese twin, which might be a "they"). Neither of you HAS to go to work. Neither ONE has to. Three or 4 people (they) have to (plural) but 1 person (he) has to (singular). Gregg Rosenthal on PFT botches both of these ALL the time.
  22. Fitz. Trent. Brown/Brohm. Fitzy will start because he is smarter than trent football-wise and much more importantly, he will THROW THE BALL. He will do what he's told to do. Trent looks for the perfect situation. Fitzy understands that his job is to throw the ball. Trent will stick around because of experience, and if, and only if, they can convince him that his job is to throw, not just contemplate the deeper meaning of life while he's in the pocket. I like Brohm sorta. Mostly because he was highly touted coming out, and I have no reason to dislike him. But I think Brown could edge him out. New regime likes something about him, and probably they think he's a better fit for the new offense. It will be funny if Brohm ends up on the practice squad and gets plucked again. maybe its his destiny.
  23. At least 2 problems. First, RB and LT are Not a wash. LT is one of the hardest positions to fill in the NFL, while RB is maybe the easiest. Second, dont both players have to actually sign their tenders to be traded?
  24. I have always believed (Bill-ieved?) that drafting by value for that spot is overrated. Borderline stupid. The draft is in some respects a crap shoot. So get who you like. Draft the player you want. Period. Dont say "I cant take this guy at 9 because he isnt projected in the top 20." Of course, if you think he can slip all the way to you in the next round (or wherever your next pick is) that's different. And please dont tell me about Donte, because again, its a crap shoot. They liked him for some reason, and even if he was servicable (still up for debate) at least you got a good player, instead of one of those first round bums who is out of the league in 3 years. All of this to say I'm totally cool with Williams at 9 (if okung is gone, which he will be), or maybe McClain. I dont care if Williams is projected to be a 2nd round pick (unless WE can wait and snag him in the 2nd). When a poster a couple weeks ago asked who you would take off any current NFL team (except qb) I said Wilfork. We NEED that position to make the entire defense work. If you like Williams for that NEED position, please take him. 3-4 DT might be harder to find than LT anyway.
