  1. So very true. But undaunted, I press onward. To the OP, it should be " . . . none of them is "I."" "None" is singular so you need the singular form of the verb (think of "none" as "not one"). Also, the punctuation mark goes inside the quotation mark at the end of a sentence, not outside. Carry on.
  2. For Jasper, saw the workout video. Super impressed. then I saw the actual football playing video. Not so impressed. http://www.wivb.com/dpp/sports/jasper-sizes-up-the-bills Its him playing OG. He seems agile enough. But what worries me is the "gentle giant" thing. There are times when he could destroy a defender, but he merely turns the guy, or shoves him to the ground. In the NFL, you need to be an "angry giant." They are getting paid lots of money to go up against you, so have no mercy. Destroy !!
  3. 1) Haloti Ngata 1) Brian Orakpo 1) Marcel Dareus
  4. (unrelated post. Did you go to City Honors for a couple years, maybe around 8th grade?)
  5. like . . . wow. The next Ted Washington. I hope he doesnt lose a single pound. wow.
  6. Most likely they are going to have prohibited contact with an Undrafted Free Agent from UB, or one who is from Buffalo area.
  7. They only did it in each of the first 3 rounds. I was watching NFLN but its not surprising that espn did it too. Day 1 I was thinking "how can you go to commercial before the #3 pick?" Day 2 I was thinking "there's no way they go to commercial before the #2 pick" but they did. round 3, same as above for pick 4. I think we all know why, but it doesnt feel very good.
  8. I guess if i'm looking for a silver lining . . . I'm glad they went 1) Dareus and 2) this cornerback guy, rather than 1) Peterson and 2) some DL guy. Still, not happy. You are running a 3-4 defense with about 1.5 linebackers on your roster, so you pick a corner?????
  9. The problem with your post is that the question from Sullivan to Nix, as I understand it, is really "can you tell me right now, days before the draft, exactly which name you will call if no qbs are taken?" . . . Its not "will you have an easy decision and follow your board if no qb is taken?" If Nix doesnt need to know which names were called other than qb, it means that his #1 player will still be there, and he could have told Sullivan the name at that moment if he wanted to.
  10. I think you have it a little twisted. If we assume that Nix is not lying, then it follows logically that he knows (1) that he would take a quarterback, and (2) he knows which quarterback. If, by your reasoning, we said "Hey nix, what if the first 2 are not LINEBACKERS?" and he said "YES," then it means he doesnt care if they were quarterbacks or D-linemen or wide receivers, because if no linebackers are gone, he has a super easy decision (Von Miller). If, instead, he needed a follow-up like "is Newton one of the 2 non-linebackers gone?" then it means that Miller is not top on his board. The point is that, if he doesnt need to know or care what was actually taken other than qb, regardless of position, then the qb position is top on his board. And he knows specifically which one it will be. The position shows which position is #1 on his board, such that he wont care who or what goes before the #3 pick.
  11. Not surprisingly, the only one of the 4 who is pro-Newton is also the only one of the 4 who has never been a coach, a GM, or a quarterback. Hmmm. . . .
  12. Same here. When I read the OP, my first thought was "wow, a big dropoff after #14, I'm gonna point it out" and now I see that you nailed it. 14 guys out of 48, when they guy is trying hard to find 48 good ones and is including a couple 2nd rounders, is not cause for excitement. And I agree on Jerry Butler.
  13. Even though I stated in the OP that Cam Jordan wouldnt be a jaw-dropper, since people here on TBD have wanted him for weeks, you guys are still saying Cam Jordan would be a Tyson Alulu type pick. +1, +2, +500, etc. Why? Why would it be a jaw-dropping surprise at this point? I like Jordan too. His swagger in his combine interview seems genuine and manly, borne of a father who played in the NFL and being raised as a man. http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/2011/2/26/2017850/cam-jordan-press-conference-at-nfl-combine Unlike Newton, whose swagger seems so contrived. Cam Jordan's is "how can I mush a quarterback with every waking breath?" but Cam Newton's is "how can I get drafted high enough to never have to worry about money, in case I end up sucking?" What say you?
  14. Good call, but I dont get the feeling that Gailey / Nix are slaves to the "high motor" gods like the past TBD bosses. I think they prefer big nasties in the trenches.
  15. Of course we all know the top, most likely names we could hear at 3. Newton, Gabbert, Peterson, Miller, Dareus, Fairley, A.J. Green, Bowers, Quinn (even Cam Jordan, since there's a whisper campaign for him at 3 on this board). But if its not one of the likely names, and we dont trade out, predict the next Tyson Alulu. Someone who will make your jaw drop, but at least its a position of need. And please dont assume its Dick Jauron at OBD and choose some 5th round Safety prospect. Assume there's a contest worth $10,000 if you're right. I'm going with either Corey LIUGET or Ryan MALLETT. I'm thinking if their favorite player is gone already (newton? Dareus?), then they will figure one of my 2 might be gone if they try to get cute and trade back into the bottom half of the first round, so why take a chance? They learned a lesson last year when they couldnt snag Tebow. Draft who you like and dont worry about "value."
  16. At first look, it looks amateurish. Cheesy. Not worthy of respect by an opponent. But as I gaze at it, the overall gestalt is not bad. Looks close to the red-white-flag blue that its supposed to be, and is far far far superior to the current monstrosity. At least with this new one, if I buy a jersey I will feel like I am "rockin" the actual Bills colors. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gestalt
  17. I will note that Shefter says "Miller or Dareus in round one and MAYBE the best DL in round 2." The "maybe" is important, compared to the OP's original comment. But still, I'd be cool with this. Miller isnt my first choice, but its better than taking a CB, and if Miller is coupled with the best DL in round 2, at least a strong commitment to shoring up the defense is shown. And I can live with that.
  18. Given your question, I choose SOLID. How many SOLID players does this team have on either side of the ball? Maybe 4? (K. Williams, D. Florence, G. Wilson, E. Wood, and barely F. Jackson and barely Fitz).
  19. We also need wins and losses. Dont tell me that "oh if his team sucks his wins will be lower." That's true, but since you didnt say what conference they played in, what offense they ran, how many different co-ordinators they had, etc., you can at least add in W/L record. Right now, give me E or F. I like people trending upward. It shows learning and maturation.
  20. Actually, it suggests to me that there arent 3 players that he thinks are worthy of being drafted in the top 3. It sounds like he's worried that his top 2 will be gone, and then he'll have to settle or reach. But then again, every team below us has the same worry. Every year its the same. If you are drafting 9th, you feel that there are only 8 good players at the top of the draft, etc., etc.
  21. 2 thoughts. First, in the 3 hole, I dont see why the Bills would need to go through all that bother. A super good player is sure to fall to them. Since they arent just one player away from the Super Bowl, they shouldnt be too concerned over which super good player they get. As long as its not a running back, wide receiver, or cornerback. They should be more concerned with figuring out who is super good. Second, I love fairley on film, but I want more "grown ass men" on my team, not big kids who are instant millionaires. When I see interviews, that is what I look for. Last year it was clear that Suh was a grown ass man, even in college. Same with Orakpo. Same with Ngata. To me, the 2 primary factors in bust potential are intelligence and maturity. Like Marv said, if all else is equal, take the smarter player, because smart players get better faster.
  22. I wish you had substituted a non-Dolfag into the story. Like Jim Brown or Mike Alstott or Earl Campbell some other famous bruiser. I might have actually been able to chuckle.
  23. I always thought our original, official colors were Red, White and Flag Blue. Not royal blue. I remember Chris Berman said, after they changed to these ugly uniforms, that now the only team left in north america wearing red/white/flag blue was the Montreal Canadians, and something about what a shame it was that no USA team was wearing its own flag's colors anymore.
